"I told you I would do anything to have you and make you happy."

Demon from the Shadows is a paranormal blend with assassins, witches, demons, and magic. The story is very similar to Beauty and the Beast with a complex twist. The main characters are complete opposites and yet once passion and romance bloom they will do whatever it takes to overcome their obstacles and find a way together!

"He was proud that she was his mate."
Overall, Demon from the Shadows has a complex plot with an enduring love story. Although the passion and romance was truly heartfelt, there were moments throughout the read that I found myself overwhelmed with the complex names and numerous plot lines developing throughout the story. Still, I found Grim and Shimon to be quite endearing together and could not help but find inspiration in their story.

I really enjoyed this book! I would recommend this to any fan of paranormal romance. If you're a fan of Kresley Cole or Gena Showalter, this book is definitely for you. The characters were enjoyable and you fall in love with them immediately. Can't wait for the next one in the series!

What a great start to the series. I did not know anything about this book going into it and ended up thoroughly enjoying it! I love the chemistry between Shimon and Grim. Their relationship ranged between the shyness and vulnerable to full on combat fighting. The range of emotions these two feel towards each other was amazing.

The storyline pulled me in almost instantly. The author created a world of paranormal beings that are not what we normally see. It was cool to get into their world.

I look forward to see where this story goes and further explore a couple of the storylines that were hinted upon in this book.

This started off strong and I was immediately enthralled. I really did enjoy it and I am intrigued by the questions we are left with at the end of book one. I am really curious what next books in the series will bring! So many interesting characters I want to read about.
Oh, and Grim and Shimon... I felt glued to the pages, because of their constant banter, snarky comments and teasing. Don't get me started on the sex parts because they were so, so hot.
Overall, I highly recommend Demon from the Shadows to any and all PRN fans.

I loved this story and its characters! I don´t get why some people are bashing this book to be similar to IAD. I love the fact that it´s similar to IAD. You know how long I´ve been looking for that kind of book or author to live up to that? Looong. And I finally freaking found it. I will definitely keep an eye on this author and this series! I recommend this book to all paranormal romance fans.

Love iiit!!❤❤❤

Not a slow romance. They get hot in the sheets pretty soon.

I love when the heroine it's a warrior. She is not a meak woman.

I just wish it wasn't a standalone... :(

I want to know more about the situation that their world find itself in and, what will happen to it..

And more about some of the other characters too, about their own love affairs.

I don't usually leave reviews but I felt like this one deserved one. For this to be a new author on the market, she did a great job with her debut novel. I will definitely keep an eye on this author.

Well written, steamy

I hope there are more books about the other captivating characters... will be looking now! Relatable humor and situations within a paranormal context.

Reads like Immortals After Dark fanfiction

No real urgency or tension. Lots of plot holes. Clearly a series setup with unanswered questions. One of the Valkyries was named Mist (like IAD). The mastermind in this book was a witch, not a Valkyrie, and her name was Mexx, not Nix, lol. The plot was a weak beauty and the beast trope. The curse wasn't explained and it wasn't that impactful except to make the hero a recluse. No justification at all for him to be a recluse though. 2.5 stars rounded up bc I used to love immortals after dark.

I was really looking forward to reading this. But this turned out to be such a disappointment. This is Fan Fiction and shouldn't be sold. Let's hope Ms. Cole and or her publisher has a sense of humor as I have seen copyright claims filed for less than what happened here.

Um… feels too much like a more immature version of Immortals After Dark The Immortals After Dark Collection Dreams Of A Dark Warrior, Demon From The Dark, A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2, 10, 11) by Kresley Cole . At least it does to me 😕 and since I still hold that series in quite a high regard as far as established legends of the paranormal romance genre are concerned, I will skip this version.

Worst case scenario this is a bad PNR version of Beauty and the Beast. Disney's Beauty and the Beast by Teddy Slater

DNF at 16% unfortunately because of how rushed and childish it felt. And I could feel that the characters weren’t fleshed out at all starting from page 5, which is…

Well…

description

Not good, to say the least.

The plot was going on fast-forward and it made me feel nothing - not from the descriptions, the action, the trope or the characters and their reactions. And I couldn’t pinpoint the feeling until a few other reviews gave me the answer: fanfiction.

description

This has the same vibe as most - free - fanfiction posted out there on the vastness of the internet. The same type of fanfiction that is written for fun by teenagers after they finish school. And which is not, under any circumstances, supposed to be monetized, especially since the literary level is what it is and ESPECIALLY since this is almost a low quality carbon copy of a book in the series I have mentioned above.

Even some of the names sounded similar and it was obvious that the species of some consecrated characters were just switched to try to make it seem like we're not regurgitating Kresley Cole with a thinly veiled attempt at concealment.

I am aware that some tropes, plots and characters tend to be similar because not everyone has a god-level imagination or writing skills, but this? This is too close to blatant plagiarism for me to enjoy it. And that's not even mentioning the writing itself.

And trust me, this is DEFINITELY NOT the sentiment I want to experience when I am reading something which wants to be an actual book.

A pity truly, since I really wanted to like it.

Even more so since most books published in the past years - even the bestselling, overhyped ones - cannot hold a candle to the oldies.

This book was recommended to me by a friend and though it is not a typical book I usually read, I must say I really liked it and enjoyed the story. The plot kept me interesting, I liked the little twists and turns as it went along. I really loved our main female lead, valkyrie Grim. She was a strong badass woman with her own sass and I enjoyed reading about this strong female lead. The Demon, Shimon, the main male lead was a little angry at the beginning, but it was interesting to watch him change his ways for his fated mate. What I especially loved was the humor in this book. I think the author quite nicely put the humor where it belonged without it being too pushy.

Overall this book had it all for me.
Strong heroine with a sassy attitude, Troubled but strong hero that grows with the story, also strong and intetersting side characters, romance, love, humor, action, twists...

I actually might give a shot a lot more stories like this after reading this :-)

I think it was a great fantasy story worth reading and giving a shot to.

Cheers,
MR
