Poppy is at her best and worst when she is protecting animals. Her trip to Bikini is different than her countless previous assignments in that there is no Intel, boo background information and no target. She was simply sent along with a team to observe and report. That in itself was a mystery, but when Uncle Sam speaks, those in government employment listen. So, a trip to paradise to watch dolphins it is. Like a magnet attracts metal, trouble is never far from Poppy.
Kimberli Bindschatel uses facts, research, personal experiences and her wonderful writing style to draw the reader into the scenes. I was swept off to Bimini to check on the dolphins and chase bad guys right along with her. Luckily I didn't get a sunburn.
I enjoyed the McDermitt book, and also enjoyed this book 18 months on. Though I must admit that the McDermitt series is on it 4th or 5th Cross over with the Charity series as well. That's 8 or so books with the same story... In TV its a 1hr investment of your favourite characters sharing the same screen. It's 20+ hours in books... It's less reasonable, l hope not to see another spilt account... Do it in one book, split between both groups, or just one account.
Poppy McVie is undercover in Bimini posing as a marine mammal research intern when she arrives and immediately has to participate in rescuing a dolphin beached and in danger of dying. Dalton is there acting as a diving coach for tourists who want to swim with dolphins. Together they are investigating a pod of dolphins who are acting strangely. While doing this Poppy meets Dalton's ex-wife when she didn't even know he had been married. When they discover the truth about the dolphin's behavior things get nasty and Poppy has to take charge.
Enjoyed this book and pleased the author shows how difficult a relationship can be if each in it is an independent thinker and not shy to admit their true thoughts and opinions. I like the addition of the three seals and Allison. Always enjoy the relationship between Poppy and Chris. It's amuzing how Chris ends up getting involved, adding humor to combat how cruel individuals are to animals. Looking forward to the next book. Keep them coming.
Excellent story! Poppy is a sassy, strong-willed Agent with the Fish & Wildlife, and she and her partner, Dalton, are sent on a mission to investigate wrongdoing that is related to dolphins. That is all they are told, but the bright side is that the location is in Bimini! Exciting and nail biting adventure is in store for you!
The ending to this book was not like anything I could imagine. It gave me some new information about Dolphins to digest. I some enjoy the interactions of these agents as they work their cases. They are sent to check on Dolphins but have no idea what they are looking for as usual. Please read this book and enjoy it as much as I did.
Read it and enjoy! The real-world utilization of dolphins as soldiers is rarely discussed. It is always lovely to read about the exploitation of marine creatures as well as terrestrial ones. Loved the continued storyline as well.
Sent out on a mission to look into the dolphins, her discovery is a bit disconcerting. Her desire to help the dolphins may cost her job, her love and maybe her life if she isn't careful.
I read this book because of its tie in to Wayne Stinnett’s Rising Charity. This was a great decision on my part, and now I have to go back and read all of Poppy’s earlier books. What a way to get hooked on yet another Indy Writer.
Will this really be one of their last? Can they be partners on and off the field? Great information about the area and history. Also, Poppy getting in over her head yet again. A great read and lead in to the next book.
A great book for cozy mystery lovers and animal lovers! Poppy McVie is a strong willed character with a totally devotion to save animals and stop anyone that abuses animals. Most of the time this keeps her on a peck of trouble and a hairsbreadth away from losing it all! Great book for everyone!
