“ It was all a Dream” Rashaad Wilson always dreamed of going to the NBA since he was five years old. The raw talent that he possessed only came around once in a generation. Rashaad, with the gift God gave him, had a plan to get him, his girlfriend, and his friends out the hood where the rough streets of Chicago have taken their fair share of lives, until the unthinkable happens, and his dreams are ripped from his life, along with the people who mean the most to him. Wanting to run away from all of his troubles, he seeks solace overseas, throwing himself into the game, making his home and the people he loved the most distant memories, but the past always has a way of catching up to you. After seven years, Rashaad comes back, and his old drama resurfaces quickly with new developments. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy with his return, especially the friends he promised to take with him when he became successful. Determined to save his neighborhood from all the murders, drugs, and upcoming gentrification, Rashaad jumps straight in, head first to save not only his hood, but the people he left behind. Murder, sex, betrayal, and the truth of real friendship lies at the forefront of this epic standalone. Rashaad is back, and the only question that remains is, are his friends still down?
Jay Tha Writer did an amazing job on this book. I loved everything from beginning to end. I felt their pain when they loss Allen. Mya and Niyah were some dirty hoes. All Mya ever saw was dollar signs when she was with Rashaad until he got hurt and she dropped him like a bad habit. When he came back she thought she was gonna jump on the money train. Siiiiike Kiara wasn't having that. Niyah was suppose to be her best friend but her betrayal got her the whooping of her life. Davion was wrong on so many levels with his grimy ass. I loved Truth and Melly they were a match made in heaven and hell cause she was riding with him till the wheels fell off and they almost did. I'm glad everything worked out for everyone. OUTSTANDING BOOK💓💘
I love this book!!! It has all of the elements of street literature: love, hate, sex, lies, violence, and secrets. Rashaad, Kiara, and Truth were more than friends, they loved each other like family. I wanted to know more about their background/home life. So many secrets that all of them had, just didn't know that all of it would come full circle. Davion, Maya, and Trav lies of deceit was too much. Melly added mystery amongst the friends, but she was down with the squad. After all the years, tears, and secrets they were still loyal to each other. I couldn't out this book down, it was that good. I will be reading more from JayThaWriter

This was an amazing book and would read it again and again. It was sad what happened to Allen but he was watching over all of them and making miracles happen for them. Its crazy how jealousy can get the best of you and cause you to do some horrible things to people because you do not like them or just want what they have in life. I am glad that regardless of Rashaad closing his self down after what happened to him and Allen death i am glad he was able to come.back and make things right with everyone. I believe everyone had deserved a happy ending. As well as those others deserved their fates.
Losing someone is a hard pill. Noone can say what you are suppose to do and how you handle it. We make plans and at times we have road blocks. Rashaad lost personal and physical things. Enjoyed how Jay the Writer told his story. It was relatable even if you haven't been in those specific shoes. Also love the bond rashaad had with his friend and true love. This was a great standalone but would love a story about Truth!! Check this great read out!!
Rashaad, Kiara, Allen and Truth's relationship was unbreakable. Kiara losing her brother and Rashaad and Truth losing their best friend was heartbreaking. I cried for Yolanda, that hit hard. Maya was too much! She got exactly what she deserved. Davion was messed up if you don't like someone, don't get with them to use them. Rashaad and Kiara getting together was destined to happen. Rahim just happened to play a major part in that happening. Go Truth lol who would have thought he'd end up where he did. Good standalone!
I really liked this one. Rashaad was really a good man and I loved how he wanted to do something positive for his neighbor Hood. Maya, was really good and conniving. The way she walked away from Rashaad after his injury was quite inhumane. She really was after what she could get. She was the lowest of the low, especially with Allen's death. Truth and Melly was quite the couple. I didn't think she would be that gangster, but she definitely was. Although Rashaad left all those years and abandon his friends they were truly down for one another.
Are You Still Down was a really good read! The storyline was well written and easy to follow. It had my attention from the very beginning until the end. I loved the loyalty between the friends. Friends forgive and forget and still have each other's back.. and Rashaad, Kiara and Truth did just that. Melly was a good addition to the group, and her and Truth were cute together. They all had a hood kind of love that was real. Maya and Trav got just what they deserved. Great read Jay Tha Writer!
I enjoyed this book from beginning to , and couldn't out it down. I was disappointed in Shaad at first to learn that he left everyone behind, but after learning why he did I felt better about him. I'm so glad Truth and Kelly both survived and Tav, his brother and Maya got what they deserved. I would love to hear more from Truth and Melly. #anotherbesrseller
Being down can be a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. Davion was down for his brother Trav but in a bad way. He tried to right his wrong doing, but it backfired. Truth and Kiara were down with Rashaad. He was almost cut off, but he was forgiven. Truth hung up his player card because of Melly. She proved how down she was on more than one occasion. Maya is down with a lifelong jail cell where she belongs.
I loved the book it was interesting, the way his friends welcomed him back when he had no contact with them for 7 years, then he came home to find out he had a son was crazy. I liked the fact that she didn’t let her son go on with out knowing who his dad was, an how his son never blamed him for not contacting him even though he didn’t know about him. Over all I would love to see what happened to them.
OMG this was a page turner from beginning to end, once I started I couldn't put it down!!! The friendship that Kaira, Allen, Truth, and Rashaad had was unbreakable even with Shaad leaving and showing back up seven years later!! I'm glad justice was served for Allen even though it wasn't the right way and I have no remorse for Maya trifling behind, she was to money hungry!! Awesome Read Jay 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My first read by this author. I loved this book it held my attention and it flowed well . I laughed and cried with characters of this book . This book had it all love , betrayal let’s just say it had it all . I was happy it wasn’t just another drug dealer ruling the world book and that is what made this book stand out to me . Well done jay the writer I will be following you
I love how Rashaad came back to make amends for cutting everybody off instead of letting them be their for him after his injury and Allen’s dead. I’m glad the truth finally came out bout Maya trifling ass she deserves everything she got. Truth was able to make amends with his best friend and get out the streets and get a happy ending with Melly. Kiara finally got the man she was in love with since they was kids and Rahim got to finally meet his fathers
Great standalone! It captures you from the beginning I couldn’t put the book down. It’s sad losing your friend, your brother at a young age due to gun violence but they Rashaad, Kiara and Truth overcame it and made they bond much stronger. Melly crack me up I’m glad her and Truth made it, I would to see a spin off with them two in it, this book was 🔥 you done amazing job keep up the good work.
These chacters was dealt some fucked up cards. But they stayed true to themselves and their friends. Truth and melly was match made in heaven. She definitely matched his crazy. Shad and kiara was a great match im so excited that they found love. I admire rashad for not giving up on his people like some may others have. The book was a great read loved it. Can honestly say i wanted more.
Yesssssssss I loved every minute of it. I wish we could get more but I will say I'm satisfied with this. Who would have thought things were going to work out for Kiara and Rashaad the way they did. I'm glad Truth was able to find his true love in Melly. I'm sad about what happened to Allen but he looked out from the heavens. Great read I'm becoming a true fan of your work Jay
A great standalone storyline full of love and of course drama with relatable characters, who were fun to read about as their development was planned out. This five star standalone doesn’t need a sequel, but a spin-off for Truth and Melly would be awesome. I enjoyed and recommend this five star read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
its crazy how one moment can change the path of multiple ppl. Everyone dealt with Allen’s death a different way. I loved the relationship that the crew had. And I had a feeling that maya had something to do with the fight. It was good that they finally got answers and peace
Man this book took me through so many emotions from laughing, crying anger boy I tell ya I wanted to smack maya into some sense ,my heart truly hurt for the group when Allen passed anyways if your looking a addictive standalone then here's your book Jay Jaythawriter you did your thing sir......
I really enjoyed this!! It was something that Shad wanted to come back and help his community! This is a everyday hood story, we all want our kids to be the next big star! This book really never mentions it but when God has a calling for you to do or be something the devil can’t destroy it!! Again great book!!!
This book was good. It had me going through so many emotions. I definitely felt for Rashaad but I’m so happy he didn’t give up. I didn’t like Maya from the begging and I knew she was up to something. I love Truth and Melly together. I’m so happy everyone got their happily ever after because they all deserved it.
Jay the writer you did your thing with this book. It just shows you that how most people who make out the hood still come back and help their people. It also explains how you going to always have people who are jealous of you. I’m glade that all the friends got a second chance of life to spend together. Great Job
I am so glad Truth an Melly didn't die. I love how Melly went hard for Truth. They was perfect for each other. Finally Rashad an Kiara found each other an now they have that real love. Happy all the people that was trying to take them.down got what they was looking for. Great ending
As always Jay Tha Writer never disappoints. I'm a huge fan of your work and everything you have written this far is 5 stars in my book. This standalone shows what true friendship and loyalty stands for. I loved the characters and storylines. It was just awesome. Keep up the good work.
This was a really good fast paced book. Great storyline of friends trying to make it out the mean streets of Chicago. I love how Rashaad and Kiara reconnected like they were never separated. Glad they got their happy ending and would love to read a story on Melly and Truth.
This standalone had a memorable cast of characters as their drama-filled stories were told. While Rashaad left on a whim to better himself, at first his friends didn't seem excited once he returned home. Eventually they accepted him back and secrets were revealed. I thought Davion and Trav deserved what they received. I was happy for Rashaad, Kiara, Tru and Melly. Good read
This was a really great book. I Loved the great theme of friendship for life. Rashaad left town after a great tragedy but he came back looking to make up & reclaim his life long friendships. So glad Truth was able to go d true love with Melly. With True Love & True friendships where can one go wrong? 😊
From the beginning to the end had me at the edge of my seat. Even though shaad made a promise at the beginning, he still kept that promise. I love me some melly and Travis they was crazy in love... can’t wait to read from this author
Thank you Jay for a happy ending. This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I wish this book could have been a series, because I would like to read more about the couples.
This was well written and worth the wait. I feel in love with it and wanted more. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Some parts I was afraid to turn the page seized by fear of what was going to happen next. Highly recommended 👏
