Marc Levy was born in France. When he turned eighteen, he joined the Red Cross, where he spent the next six years. In 1983, he created a computer graphics company based in France and the United States. Six years later, he co-founded an interior design and planning company with two friends; the company soon became one of the leading architecture firms in France.
At thirty-seven, Marc Levy wrote a story for the man that his son would grow up to be. In early 1999, his sister, a screenwriter (now a film director), encouraged him to send the manuscript to a French publisher, who immediately decided to publish If Only It Were True. Before it was published, Steven Spielberg (Dreamworks) acquired film rights to the novel. The movie, Just like Heaven, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, was a #1 box office hit in America in 2005.
After If Only It Were True, Marc Levy began writing full-time. Since then, he has written 18 novels. His work has been translated into 49 languages and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
In addition, Marc Levy has directed a short movie, written short stories and song lyrics for various artists, including Johnny Hallyday.
Le Figaro newspaper recently commissioned a nationwide poll asking the French to rank their favorite author: Marc Levy and Victor Hugo were #1.

Rame uz rame s Gijom Musoom... veliki francuski savremeni pisac...
Marc Levy is one of the authors I really like, even if his sensitivity is somehow in excess. "If Only It Were True" and "Le Voleur d'ombres" are very well balanced and with a strong touch of humor. This one is not so good, for at least two reasons: the plot is too pathetic and Mathias is no more than a moron and I hate being embarrassed by someone's behavior, even if that person is purely fictional...
This book has great reviews and I was hoping for a great novel, but I was bored and found it hard to go on reading it. The adults are too much like kids, the kids think too much like adults... I couldn't identify to anyone. Disappointing!
I enjoyed every page of this book! I couldn't let go of it. It 's touching, sensitive, funny, and full of emotions. It shows a beautiful picture of male friendship. I love Levy's simplicity in writing and the capability of letting the readers imagine the scenes and characters so clearly in their mind.
"Her cümlede tekrarlayacak mısın bunu?"

Şu kesin bi' gerçek, Marc Levy'nin kaleminden her şeyi okurum. Evet alışveriş listesi dahil!
This is a first book of Marc Levy that I have read and I really loved it. I read it in one day and I was really amused. It is so cute, so sweet, so warm and so... I don't know. By the end of the book I thought I knew the characters all my life, they became so close to me. I thought I was one of the people who live in this book and who watches characters every day. I really loved the book and I recommend it to all the romantic people to read. You will love it too.
Yer yer üzen, yer yer güldüren müthiş bir kitap. 5 yıldız vermedim bunun sebebi şuydu;
I love Marc Levy and I read every single book he pusblishes traslated into Spanish, as I'm form Spain. But this book is just boring, I couldn't finish it, eve thogth I tried my best to do it because I really love its author's writing, but i won't push me throgh a book I wouldn't enjoy, so I left it.
My feeling about this book it's that doesn't really happens at all, it's too boring, the whole plot are the twon friends arguing for things I don't really care.
This is not a book as full of magic as many other Marc Levy's, but, it has a charming humor, a way of telling a story whcih is very much like a script for theater or a movie, and it had a detail I LOVED: the "apparition" of two beloved characters of another two books: Lauren and Arthur ! It was so funny to "meet" them briefly in this book!
It's a relatively entertaining read but I had a bit of trouble relating to the characters. The whole book spends the least time with the most interesting and likeable characters and the most with characters (or should I say character) I could not like or relate to.
If you want a quick read that you don't have to get too invested in and it's not too expensive, I'd say go for it, give it a read. There was nothing that hurt or offended me in the book and I actually really liked the whole community and how it was treated. It felt comforting, seeing all these people find a little bit of home in a foreign place and life just... continuing.
Still, the only emotionally impactful part of the book was the ending and even though it's not really a twist or even surprising, at all, it ruins the potential for rereads, for me personally.
Had never heard of Marc Levy, but he's a best-selling french author, apparently. Read this in French, and it's a fairly bland tale of a few French friends leaving (for a while) in London. Cue all the cliches anyone could think of, and interesting facts such as being able to see France from the Cornwall coast, taking the M25 to get into London, paying a hospital bill after visiting A&E. Oh well.
