Mr Bambuckle's Remarkables #2

Mr. Bambuckle: Class 12B Fights Back

Rate this book

The students of class 12B are up to something...

Principal Sternblast wasn't a fan of Mr. Bambuckle's wacky teaching methods, even though class 12B never had that much fun learning before! Their new teacher, the strict Miss Frost who says discipline is what's important, definitely does not make school fun.

The students are willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of Miss Frost and get Mr. Bambuckle back! And they're not afraid to bend the rules.

Perfect for middle school readers of Sideways Stories from Wayside School and My Weird School!

Take Mary Poppins and Doctor Who, and combine them together, and maybe you will come up with Mr. Bambuckle.

Mr. Bambuckle keeps a scrub jay in his pocket. He rides a unicycle, and offers gormet food to his students. He teaches by doing, and the principal does not like him.

This book, the second in what appears to be a series of books about the class of 12b, and Mr. Bambuckle, their teacher, is light hearted, and fun, but like cotton candy, is not very filing. There is a huge introduction of pictures of the major players, the students, at the beginning of the book where we learn their dislikes and likes. Very odd. Once we get past that, we get to what appears to be the crux of the story, of how to get Mr. Bambuckle back.

Through the students, with some unexplained magic, the students learn how to send the new teacher far away, so that Mr. Bambuckle can return.

But the plot wanders off form there, so that we have stories of disruptive kindergartners and parents that change the age of majority from 18 to 8.

It is not clear what this has to do with the main plot, and thes stories seem to be side adventures.

But perhaps that is the way this wacky series works.

And honestly, the stories are cute and good, and probably just right for the market of middle-grade.

This is part of a wacky series, Mr. Bambuckle,’s Remarkables, set in a school. In this book, Crazy fun teacher Mr. Bambuckel has been replaced with Belladonna Frost. Fun loving Mr. Brambuckle rides a unicycle, keeps a bluejay in his pocket and cooks his students gourmet food. Mrs. Frost is an absolutely no nonsense teacher. The main story is the students quest to get their favorite teacher back and rid the school of Mrs. Frost. Well.....it kinda works at least for a while. The story is definitely kid friendly with such as pee-graffitied toilet walls. For me an adult reader, I thought there were too many plots in this one book. I worried a bit about Slugger’s homemade sauce with radiator fluid. It is said to leave the body feeling refreshingly cool. That stuff can kill ya! I guess kids will understand it all in fun and not drink radiator fluid to feel refreshed. Oh me, we do worry so much these days.
Funny reading, funny kids and teachers, a little bit of magic and lots of silly. Great series by a very creative Australian author who knows what kids like.

Oh dear! Another instance where the paperback version is not on this website. The ISBN is 9780143785873.
The school principal, Mr Sternblast has managed to get rid of the truly remarkable teacher Mr Bambuckle and has engaged a really nasty witch of a teacher called Miss Frost.
A very icy, cold and hard teacher who brings a chilly atmosphere in the classroom and the kids suffer horrendously and are in danger of losing all confidence that they had gained through Mr Bambuckle.
However, it's as if Mr Bambuckle is helping the students from a distance and one of them finally finds a way to remove Miss Frost to a location a long way away. This results in the return of Mr Bambuckle and things start to improve dramatically. It's a little similar to "Miss Nelson is Missing" (Remember the awful Miss Viola Swamp?) except the kids are not nasty ratbags that have to be trained to behave.
As usual, upon Mr Bambuckle's return, the kids are in for a wild and unpredictable ride - a good sequel to the first story.
However, Mr Sternblast is still most unhappy about Mr Bambuckle's unconventional teaching methods and is determined to get rid of him again. Will he succeed? Read the next story to find out what happens!

The students in room 12B are in for a rude shock. Their new teacher, Miss Frost is a discipline nightmare. The change from Mr Bambuckles, who was interesting, fun and they learned lots to Miss Frost was too much to tolerate.
Overwhelmed by the change, the students are surprised to get notes from Mr Bambuckles. Unusual things start to happen. How does Miss Frost cope? What happens in the end?
I enjoyed the unusual story and design devices that helped convey what was happening in the classroom.

I am going to have to find the first book. are there others? This one was fun, but could have used a bit more background from the earlier story. I'm betting middle grade school kids will enjoy this book. Miss Frost was a bit harsh, but I can recall far more teachers like her than nice and creative ones like Mr. Bambuckle! Schools need more teachers like him (give them more money!).
I received a Kindle arc from Netgallay in exchange for a fair review.

This is the first of the Mr Bambuckle books I've read. I downloaded the audiobook to accompany myself on a long drive and really enjoyed it.

A nice touch is that Tim Harris is the favourite author of one of the characters!

(Book 1)In book one of Mr bambuckles got fired. (Book 2) 2 weeks later room 12Bs new teacher came. Miss Frost. Miss frost was a strict teacher. Scarlett Geeves received a letter from Mr Bambuckle, you have magic in your finger tips. It started when the class went to the computer lab to edit photos on photo crop. Scarlett got rid of Miss Frost and sent her to Ecuador. Mr Bambuckle came back, YEAH! Along the way Sammy, Victoria and Albert had some troubles, but advice from Mr Bambuckles fixed it. When everything was going well Mr Sternblast(the grumpy principal) called an emergency assembly. Discipline is the new order with Miss Frost as assistant princapal. Miss Frost is keeping an eye on class 12B and Mr Sternblast is keeping an eye on Mr Bambuckle. Will class 12B survive the circumstances from Miss Frost?

It is a fiction book. The story takes place in room 12B at Blue Valley School. Yes! I feel apart of this story. The chaos in Sammy's story felt real and entertaining but unbelievable. Mr Bambuckle giving the class bacon and eggs reminds me of when I have bacon and eggs with my dad on a weekend. Yes! A class that wants to get their old teacher back. When ever something went wrong they just kept on fighting. The desciption of Miss Frost made me picture her in my mine

I received this book as an ARC from Sourcebooks in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I have always loved these types of books. If I could describe the Mr. Bambuckle series in a few words it would be Miss Nelson meets the wayside school with 100% chaos. This book was so much fun to read that I had to share it with some of our elementary school patrons and they could not get enough of it. I know this will be such a big hit with ALL of our patrons and community.

We will consider adding this title to our JSeries collection at our library. That is why we give these books. 5 stars!
