I should never have touched Avery Fletcher. But the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was under my skin. I saved her life the first night we spent in Alfheim. And then she gave me her virginity. That night she was all blonde hair, soft skin, and pure innocence. And I knew I was going to ruin her. Now we’re stuck in the virtual world, and death in God of Faeries means death in real life. I have to get her out of this hell hole before she figures out who I really am. All that matters is keeping her safe. Even if that means keeping her far away from me.
The Battle for Alfheim was a good read...When Avery and Finn are separated when they start playing the game and each lands in a different part of the world...When Avery meets Caleb I wanted her to start standing up and taking charge and not being afraid....Hope she improves in the next book...Can't wait to read about Finn story next...
A fast and enjoyable read. I did feel like I jumped into the story and it took me several chapters to figure out what was happening. I’ll go back now and read the prelude to see if that makes things clearer. I’m also looking forward to the next book in the series.
As I understand it, Avery is playing a computer game with her twin Finn. They are sucked into the game world and separated. Avery must find Finn. On the way Caleb saves her. Together they struggle to stay alive and look for Finn while getting to know each other. This does have a relationship HEA although there is still the game to conquer.
Avery and Caleb were very different. Although romantically perfect for each other, she is naive and soft hearted and he is callous and realistic. I wanted to slap her a few times (As in get with the program) and in a nice pretty romance I would have found Caleb too harsh, in this situation I really thought his attitude was healthier for them. Still, they manage to survive this book and their search continues. I would have given this a 5 if the prologue for the book had been more informative and if Avery hadn’t been so slow to accept what was happening. She knew in theory, but every time they hit reality she acted like it wasn’t right to survive. Normally a heroine like this would have me stop reading but she wasn’t too annoying and she did learn from each encounter. And she was NOT an airhead. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
ONE INCREDIBLE TREAT!!! Wow! Talk about extreme measures. One heart stopping tale that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. All the drama, uncertainty and suspense make for one exciting experience. A swirling eddy of unforseen mishaps and impulsive events that blasts all of your stormy, twirling emotions bursting to life. Drawing you in so deep until nothing else exists. The characters are authentic and relatable with on point personalities that bend and flow. The scenes are vividly descriptive in the realistic true to life form. Twists and turns abound with startling revelations that thursts this bad boy to life beautifully. Fantastic job Mirajane, thanks for sharing this awesome gem with us.
I gave it a 4 rating because I found it extremely hard to believe that out of all the people at the gathering they were the only two to survive. Surely, some warriors would have been assigned to get the people who were young, old or weaker out of the area. Who ever set up the event must have made provisions for an attack by goblins if nothing else! Finally, some real feelings from our hero and our heroine earns her wings. At last her brother is introduced but not to his sister.
The start of a new series called The Fate of the World Tree. A very interesting story from different points of view as the people get yanked into the virtual world,of life and death in Freyr: God of Faeries game. I will be watching for the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this fun and exciting read. Avery was such a great character and Caleb was the perfect bad boy for her. With all his mysterious past. To be lock within a virtual game and no way out and trying to find her brother Finn. Great unique read! What an adventure.

Get lost in this captivating ... virtual world!! What a uniquely addictive story, I felt a little uninformed at the beginning, however, as the story developed it definitely became riveting, dangerous and not-to-be-missed. I’m sooo glad to have had the chance to read it, and can’t wait to see what’s in the next instalment. This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy
A fantastic fantasy. A really "realistic" story with everything required to make it a good story. The writing is excellent and the description of the characters and locations were really good. The dialogue within the story was well thought out and written so it flowed easy. Well worth reading.
I’m so glad Caleb finally told Avery how he felt. But can’t wait to find out more about him. And so glad that Finn is so far alive and wanting to find Avery as much as she is trying to find him to.
Wish she would write more books. Enjoyed her preview and this book too. If you enjoy fantasy, monsters and fairies I believe you would really enjoy this book.
I've never read a book quite like this one! Absolutely loved this premise & intriguing, crazy, naughty read! I want the rest SOON! I usually do sets since I HATE the wait of a serial!!!
