An end, while expected and does not surprise offers big emotions and a full circle.

World: The art is solid, this has been one of the better shonen books on the market. The world building is great, it goes back to book one and it pulls on all the pieces of Nakiri and Soma since the start and uses these pieces so well. It's a great payoff.

Story: The story plays out as you would expect this finale to be, all the beats are there and all the tension is there. It's actually really safe in how it was executed and there were no surprises. The thing that made this finale stand out compared to other Shounen books with the two mains finally coming together is that Tsukuda lets readers enjoy the full circle and fully realized arc that is Nakiri. Her driving arc makes this a fitting and emotionally satifying end to this battle. I also really loved how this book acknowledged Megumi (my favorite character).

Characters: Erina gets a wonderfully payoff for her arc and it's well done and well earned. So is the banter and the dynamic of Soma and her. The characters are fun and the full cast of characters that are in this finale is pretty fun and a good payoff for fans.

An enjoyable finale which although standard has good heart.

Onward to the next book!

It took forever, but the battle for control of the school finally reaches its conclusion in a spectacular manner that epitomizes all the best aspects of this series. Soma's competitive drive to create ever more delicious dishes pushes him and those around him to new levels of greatness. Themes and running jokes from the whole series pay off here in a big way. And of course there are plenty of beautiful people exploding out of their clothes when the dishes are served up.

I really enjoyed the way everything came together, and the story arc wrapped up in this one. The way Soma and Erina handled their joint shokugeki especially made SO much sense for them. I wouldn't have minded a few more details on a few things, but I don't have any real complaints. The weird 'clothes falling off because food is good' thing even kind of worked well in this finale.

Ahhhh, I got behind in this series! Anyway, I loved this final battle for Totsuki and how things turn out, and how ridiculous Soma and Erina are together with all their competing and bickering. And just when I think this series can't possibly go in any new directions, it does!

This one really showcased Azami’s ability to groom so efficiently. But it was good to see how this all ends though we need more information!

An epic conclusion to the battle for Totsuki! Soma and Erina have taken everything they’ve learned from everybody around them, especially each other, and made their best dishes yet!

This volume is the biggest disappointment for me since I started reading this manga. Probably the lowest rating I ever gave comparing with all the previous volumes of this series. I couldn't believe what I've read and why it suddenly became so lame when the story was quite good at the beginning. The story was quite dull and unacceptable when it comes to the part of Azami's reaction towards delicious food. What?? Why?? Can't he react differently?

Quick thoughts: When the new regime phase of the manga started I had my doubts, but overall it really became great stuff and lead to some of my favorite parts of the series. This is a really fantastic finale to the team Shokugeki that pays off numerous storylines and character arcs.

Wiele rozdziałów i przygotowanych pysznych potraw musiało minąć, zanim fani serii mogli zobaczyć ostatnią rundę Regiment de Cuisine.

Jeśli zaś chodzi o warstwę graficzną, to nadal prezentuje ona najwyższy możliwy poziom. Świetnie zaprezentowana dynamika wydarzeń, apetycznie wyglądające dania i oczywiście świetne projekty postaci.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Sōma!, Vol. 30 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (254–262) of the on-going manga series.

The Fifth and Final Bout of the Régiment de Cuisine begins and concludes. It is a team match with Sōma Yukihira and Erina Nakiri of the rebel camp taking on the establishment of First Seat Eishi Tsukasa and Second Seat Rindō Kobayashi. As expected, Azami Nakiri was not an impartial judge favoring his students and refusing to acknowledge the creation created by Sōma and his daughter. Even when faced with the superiority of their dishes he stubbornly holds on to his beliefs as his world is slowly slipping away and his dreams sieving through his fingers.

This tankōbon is written by Yūto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. It is nicely narrated and gives the back story of how Azami Nakiri first met and recruited Eishi Tsukasa and Rindō Kobayashi. It also showed the strategy session between Sōma Yukihira and Erina Nakiri as they planed what they want to make. However, Sōma threw those plans away and challenged Erina to a shokugeki to make their specialty dishes, which pushed their abilities to their extreme.

All in all, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Sōma, Vol. 30 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

In a way, it felt like the good guys shouldn't win this battle, because the idea of Soma and Erina working together felt really bizarre. They've been at odds since volume 1, and yet they're working toward the same goal, both as chefs and as Resistance to the idea of Erina's father that cooking at the highest level should be tightly regimented. In fact, the readers are reminded that Erina's amazing sense of taste is key to his plan, since she would help to identify which things taste best. Soma manages to turn that around, to turn this not only into a battle against Central, but a test of skill between himself and Erina.
For me, one of the funniest bits in the whole series is the payoff to the whole "squid and peanut butter" running gag, and yet it actually makes sense, if you've ever had a dish that uses cooked peanuts in a sauce. I still don't like squid, though...

It's Irina and Soma versus the two best members of Central's team.

I enjoyed watching these two verbally battle and eventually settle on the absolute best way to support each other. The next volume will be the fallout from all of these team shokugekis and I'm looking forward to seeing how things will change.

Corniest food porn of this volume: (so many): "A rebel angel come to steal us away to a new land of unknown delights!" with not one but two naked ladies cuddling cherubs while behind are two people in ant costumes (read the book!)

Everything was going pretty well until we got an entire chapter of people stripping naked because "the gifting" is terrible and awful and I hate that it's a thing. What a way to ruin the ending to such a long arc, and to have all these character arcs from the beginning of the series hinge upon a room full of teenagers having a group orgasm.

The final round of the Regiment de Cuisine and the finale of the advancement exam arc! Souma and Erina face off against Central's Eishi and Rindou. This one really pulls out all the stops and is a tense affair from start to finish.

I regret I started late into the series but appreciating the solid world building/ iron chief style competition universe and the rich attention and descriptions of the various recipes which makes me think, is the writer or/and illustrator is a chief themselves?

I guess I had ignored what the whole “gifting” thing was til now, cause I was really confused but then I thought about it and it makes a bit more sense. I loved this volume! Loved seeing Soma & Erina really come into their own and yet work together at the same time.

Man! Erina's dad is a jerk. Please stop calling her contaminated.

But we have come full circle and are once again talking about peanut butter and squid legs. Love that!
