The founder of Shiva Rose Beauty shares her recipes for revitalizing masks, scrubs, and oils made from common natural ingredients.
We make our own food because we care about what we put in our bodies. So why not put the same thought into the things we put on our bodies? Founder of her own line of holistic beauty products, Shiva Rose wants to help women feel luminous through nourishing and nurturing products and personal self-care rituals.
In Whole Masks & Scrubs , Shiva offers natural recipes for total body decadence, including Rose’s Lustrous Lakshmi hair mask, Revitalizing Body Scrub, and Nourishing Face Oil. With these and other recipes using natural household ingredients, you can turn self-care from a chore into an act of love.
What I like the most about this book are two things: First, the author uses natural ingredients. Second, she uses ayurvedic ingredients, which is not that common in this sort of books. I would have liked the book to explain more about the properties of the ingredients and their history. I would have like to know about historical queens and kings and what ingredients they used. I think history was missing from this book. Instead, it's mostly a recipe book. Nothing special about it. Still, there are some recipes I have never heard of, such as using sesame oil as a mask. I guess any rich oil would do. I wonder if it leaves a greasy residue in the hair and how to deal with it. In conclusion, I was not impressed, but this book could have been so much better with more research. Still, the ayurvedic ingredients intrigued me.
