Adopted by a loving family in California, she grows into a successful criminologist whose abilities earn the attention of the Los Angeles Police Department.
But not everyone sees her gift as a blessing.
As threats close in and suspicion begins to surround her, Isabella finds herself hunted by an unseen enemy determined to destroy her. With danger mounting and her own instincts becoming harder to trust, she must uncover the truth before the past consumes her completely.

Foresight turned out to be such an interesting and surprisingly emotional read for me. I originally picked it up because the premise sounded unique, but I ended up getting completely invested in Isabella’s story and the mystery surrounding her abilities. Even though it is a shorter novel, it manages to combine crime, suspense, supernatural elements, and personal trauma in a way that kept me engaged from beginning to end.
What I liked most about this book was Isabella herself. She is not written like some untouchable superhero character. She feels human, vulnerable, and emotionally scarred by the things she has experienced in her life. Surviving the 1985 Mexico City earthquake as a child already gives her backstory emotional weight, but the addition of her visions and strange abilities makes her even more compelling. You can feel how exhausting and isolating it must be to constantly carry memories and glimpses that other people cannot understand.
I also enjoyed how her abilities were woven into her work as a criminologist and investigator. The story did not rely only on supernatural powers to move the plot forward. Isabella still had to think, investigate, trust her instincts, and deal with the consequences of her decisions. That balance made the mystery feel much stronger and more believable.
The pacing was another thing I appreciated. The chapters moved quickly, and I found myself reading “just one more chapter” several times. There is an easy flow to the writing that makes the story accessible without losing tension. Even though the book is short, it still manages to build intrigue around the old and new cases that begin to connect.
I honestly think the emotional side of the story stood out even more than the mystery. Isabella’s struggle with trust, fear, trauma, and loneliness gave the novel depth. Her gift is useful, but it also feels like a burden she never asked for. That made her journey more meaningful to me because it was not only about solving crimes. It was about learning how to live with who she is.
The atmosphere throughout the novel also worked really well. There is this constant feeling that danger is lurking somewhere in the background, and Isabella never fully feels safe. I liked that sense of unease because it matched the supernatural themes perfectly.
By the end, I was left wanting more from this world and this character. I could easily see Isabella carrying an entire series because she has the kind of backstory and abilities that leave room for so many future mysteries. Overall, this was a fast, engaging, and memorable read with a strong female lead and an intriguing paranormal twist. Definitely recommended for readers who enjoy mysteries mixed with supernatural suspense
This is a short novel that centers around a young female with special abilities to relive experiences. These powers emerged after a traumatic disaster that occurred while she was a child and have enabled her to become a skilled detective. When an old solved case merges with a new one, she becomes embroiled in a career crisis that threatens her life. It’s a quick read that doesn’t offer a lot of suspense but is a nice little mystery with the promise of more to come. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
