Have you ever met someone whose entire life mission was to get under your skin? A high school bully perhaps? A work colleague that just can't buy a fucking clue? Your shithead next door neighbor who revs his engine at all hours of the night? Now imagine for a moment that pain in the ass follows you to your new home on a Caribbean island and continues to poke and poke and poke until you fucking explode. You'd wanna retaliate, right? Yeah. Me too. But this didn't happen to me. It happened to my boss, Artie Balladares. Poor fucker. And it couldn't have happened at a worse time. What time was that, you ask? Well, let’s just say he was focused on bigger more voluptuous matters. Now, I'm not gonna ruin the story and tell you everything that went down, but as head of security at Artie's Caribbean resort, it was my JOB to protect him at all costs. And I was prepared to do just that. Even if that meant sleeping with the enemy. Come on! You guys know me. I'm always willing to take one for the team. I mean, make love, not war, right? Right. So, here we go. If you wanna know what went down, then follow me, Daniel Terrence Drunk and my octogenarian best buddy Al, on another wild and crazy ride. Rated R for colorful language, crude humor, sexual innuendos, and the occasional non-PC remark. Rated A+ for entertainment value. **Oh, and one more thing. While I’m not one of those people who’ll tell you what to do with your life or anything, I will say, if you haven’t read Drunk on a Plane, Drunk on a Boat, or Drunk Driving, you might wanna start there. You’d find this story a lot more entertaining if you did. That said, this story can stand on its own two feet if required to do so.
Zane Mitchell switches the emphasis back onto comedy in this fourth book in the series and most amusing it is, too. Danny Drunk’s friend Artie is getting hitched but nothing really goes to plan (like pretty much any wedding, I guess) when a prank war starts to escalate totally out of control.
I’ve got a wait now as my wife’s still reading book five and I can’t start it ‘til she’s done...
A great flowing story, funny dialogs, action and interesting characters....and all of that in a beautiful setting. I am enjoying this series a lot and hope it will be a long lasting series.
Highly Entertaining!!! I absolutely love this series, these characters, the crazy situations they all end up in, and the introduction to the new ones in this title. This being book four and now having to wait for book five is really going to drive me crazy. As soon as the next one is out I am definitely buying it. To give readers an idea, this series is a bit like Magnum P.I. meets Grumpy Old Men. I laugh a lot, out loud, while reading this and become really drawn into each story. I really hope someone in Hollywood will turn these into films for the theater or even a TV series.
Earlier in this installment, the pranking between the two neighboring resorts just seemed silly. And yet, I was sucked right in and enjoyed the ride. It ended up being highly entertaining like the rest, and I loved that this book got Drunk’s elderly crew involved. It reminded me of the end of the movie Battleship when the old guys took over. As always, a fun series to read!
I really enjoyed all the books in this series. These are mysteries with lots of humor, including a bit of slapstick. The language is a little wild, but it settles down and changes into a good story. Drunk on the job started off with some pretty absurd pranks, but then the plot started to come together and it had a great ending. If you like sarcastic, absurd humor, with a few bad dad jokes thrown in, you'll probably like this series. It's set in the Caribbean so the setting leaves plenty of room for fantasizing about life in the Caribbean.
OMG, this is a great and super-entertaining series! Danny Drunk has to be one of the funniest characters ever, and the expanding cast of characters is well realized and fully fleshed out. An amazing book that I recommend to anyone who likes who-done-it detective thrillers. I can't wait for the next one!
By the way, Christopher Boucher, the main narrator of the audiobook, is exceptional! I can't imagine Danny Drunk, Al or Artie being voiced by anyone else. Marissa Parness (narrator of all women in this audiobook) also does a fantastic job.
I enjoyed more the previous book, but this one is also good and entertaining. I like that each time we know more about the characters, they're getting more real, deeper, which I like. What I perceived in this novel, is that Drunk at the same time wants to get more serious/professional with his (awesome) job, but keeps being a bit clown sometimes. It's his way of being. Although suddenly he comes with some smart comments/actions/ideas... Which makes me think, if he was able to keep the focus & initiative a bit more often, he could rule the island 😜
After three previous freelance outings, Drunk has finally hunkered down and gone to work, as security chief at the Paradise Isle resort he calls home. This heralds a decrease in the scope of his adventures, but not the quality, as he is still firmly married to the outrageous and the borderline off-color. This time, he is trading pranks with the resort owner next door and trying to insure that his boss's wedding to a lady of questionable virtue comes off without a hitch - and of course, while these enterprises may keep him close to home, they are fraught with the usual Drunk complications and setbacks that are singular to this larger-than-life character. Events are outrageous, new characters as flamboyant as Drunk himself parade across the stage and the tranquil beauty of the island is upset once again as everyone is seemingly shouting for Drunk to come solve their latest problems. This offering is more polished than earlier ones, as you would hope; Drunk's feet are firmly beneath the table in contention for the best of tropical-themed escapist fiction out there.
Yep, another one down and waiting on the parents. YES I would buy your books now that I know I like and laugh at them. I thankfully have unlimited but I eliminate know about drunk if it hadn't been free. I read to much and would be broke in no time. Your plots are great and the character are hysterical!! Keep putting the comedy out there. You are making my quarantine very tolerable.
This is the most fun yet...so I'm ready for more. These books have just the right mix of suspense & humor, just like the drink recipes' balance of booze & mixers! Love the characters and though Drunk is probably too young for me (I'm 72 yikes!), I may still go to find this resort someday. Thanks Zane!
Good light entertainment. The characters are unforgettable
Good light entertainment. The characters are unforgettable and even the minor ones contribute to the story line in a manner that makes the readers wonder what is coming next. If you want a relaxing read. That still makes you use your brain, this is it.
I really enjoy the Drunk in Paradise series, and always look forward to the next one. No matter what you’re reading, its always fun to imagine the setting and surroundings. Because this series takes place on a Caribbean resort, it makes the book just that more enjoyable.
As good as the first book in the series. All of the main characters are now well fleshed out and so the story flows much smoother. Artie is getting married to a woman with a scandalous past, and he is in the middle of a prank war with the hotel next door. But never fear Drunk is on the case, so what could possibly go wrong?
Another great book in the series. I started this book when it first came out and got about 20% done but had to put it down till 2 days ago. Started at the beginning, could not put it down. Great characters that are very real . Funny and exciting all the way through. Please Zane many more Drunks!
I have really enjoyed reading about Drunk's adventures. Stories are entertaining and so are the cast of characters. It was nice to have a series with interesting story line without the usual suspense that I encounter with many of the mysteries I read. No serial killers.
A good continuation of the series. I've read four books in a row from this series. They have all been good stories, but I'm getting a tired that Drunk can't seem to separate himself between being a hard nut with a good heart or giving an outward image of a toughie but being an emotional softie inside. Personally, I'd prefer the first.
Still, I'd recommend the read. It's a good storyline.
This is one very funny series. This book, like the previous in this series, is fast paced, action packed and just so funny. The characters are crazy but lovable and you just have know idea what kind of trouble they are going to get into but you just have to keep reading. It is that good. I cannot wait to read the next in this series.
The Drunk series is generally an entertaining, light series with a sarcastic main character and a little mystery. This one fit that description but was a little frustrating due to the main character’s bone headed decisions yet the book was still fun and recovered in the end. A solid 3 star and a good Kindle Unlimited book value. Looking forward to book 5 ahead.
it’s so good I’ve already ready two more of the series and have another 5 waiting. Super enjoyable book with lot’s of twists and turns. a lovable main character whom you can’t help but love!
Read several already, don’t miss this lovable confounding super funny main character. Will take your mind to a wonderfully pleasing place! Please give the series a try.
I totally freaked out my hubby and pup a couple times while they were catching some Z's. Oops! My bad. Mr. Mitchell wrote something hilarious that caught me off guard, and I couldn't help but crack up. The death stares from both of them were priceless. me laugh harder.
Another great story line e with the number of twists and all with drunk and his cronies leading the way and now Erika as Frankie loves her new bingo drunk have a ball
Drunk is hilarious! I could visualize this whole book playing out. It’s funny and mysterious and the characters are so good. I never want this series to end. I don’t think it’s predictable and the pranks were funny. Great book
And 👍yes......more of DRUNK and that circle of geriatric buddies is definitely a must read! We all need humor and good stories in our lives and this series does the trick. BRAVO 👏
I've read all of Zanes books. The characters are a lot like many of my friends, fun, crazy, intelligent and just plain awesome to be around. Any lover of good times should visit the wonderful tales spun by Zane Mitchell!
Another solid effort by Mr. Mitchell. After reading all four novels within the span of a month or so, one would assume I'd be hungover. Quite the contrary. I'm ready to rally and to get more Drunk. Bring it on!
I’m not much of a reviewer but I’ve enjoyed this whole series. I love his characters. He presents a well written story that is hard not to enjoy. I hope Zane comes back with another one....soon. Zane please continue with the Drunk series.
These are such fun books. I have read and enjoyed all four in the series. Drunk, Al and the gang are great characters and manage to get themselves into some really good adventures. I look forward to any future books from Mr Mitchell.
I really enjoy all of these books. They are quick reads, hold my interest and entertain me. The language is strong, but the author warns you about that and I don’t mind. I also think it’s cool he includes drink recipes at the end.
