Few surprises & fewer realities! Not to be a spoiler makes this tough to give credible review! Everyone expected perfection , forgiveness and love forever! They beat a poor dead horse for 3 miserable chapters!! I gave extra star for the attempt, but this was extremely hard to keep hearing same drivel!! Extremely disappointed because I normally love your books! You please everyone, but did YOU feel like you did your best to present a bloody, vicious, but understandable plot? Even further disappoinment compounded by not being able to read extended dialog, tho I've used the funnel app for YEARS! I just hope it was your redemtion! Sorry!
Yes, 3 stars because the number of grammatical errors was very off putting. I started counting and I can say the was at least one error on every page. That interrupts the flow in reading. The story was cute, but the errors were sad. Who did the editing for this book? Not done well.
I liked the plot. But this book needs a good editor badly! It contains so many grammatical errors and missing many words. Please hire an editor, let her do her work, and republish the book.

What a whirlwind ride! Sloane💃💋 and her eventual alliance to her new husband Lachlan🐺🔪 begins to make all the difference in this intriguing novel of a political marriage turned romance💞. Great story!
This a great romance surrounded by feuds, alliances, spies, betrayal, death, loyalty and family. The story opens with a funeral and the five clans had gathered together to pay their respects. Suspicion was ripe and tension was high because no one knew who killed the cousin of Laird with the largest clan. The five-clan alliance had a problem. Two of the clans, Fenton and Brisbane were feuding with each other. In order to keep the alliance and stop the feuding, two political marriages were arranged. Laird Lachlan MacFarlane was to be wed to Sloane Fenton and Lachlan's sister Freya was to wed Gair Brisbane. This would protect the alliance from any future feuds. This book centers around Sloane and Lachlan. The story shared how hated Sloane was by Lachlan's clan. She was determined to win their respect. Her father, Errol Fenton was a snake and was trying to use Sloane to his advantage to stop the alliance from solidifying. However, Sloane had never been loved and now Lachlan and his family was showing her what it was to be loved. Sloane stood against her father and as a result, bad dangerous things started to happen. Everyone believed it was Laird Fenton behind everything but by the end of the story the truth came out and it was unexpected. This is an exciting read and I highly recommend it.
I really enjoyed this story. The plot is a good one, and it was handled well. The characters were more than just descriptions on paper, and they were believable. There were some things that might have improved the story if they had been expanded upon, but all in all, it was a very nice read. It has adventure, drama, romance and suspense…trademarks of a great Highland historical novel. Lachlan, laird of the McFarlane clan, is determined to have peace between his clan and the four that live on his borders. To that end, he will even wed the daughter of one of his worst enemies…but did she marry him to promote peace, or is she working towards some other end? Sloane Fenton dearly wants her father's approval and love. What is she prepared to do in order to gain it? Will she obey her father's wishes and work against her newfound family, or will she follow her heart and her vows of loyalty to her new husband? Figuring out what to do would be a lot easier if someone wasn't trying to kill her at the same time. To find the answers, you really must read this wonderful debut novel by Adamina Young.
Sloan was confused that after years being ignored by her father, Errol Fenton has decided she is going to attend the funeral of a Highlander from the neighboring MacFarlane Estate. The death of this Highlander has made things tense between the eating clans. Sloan foolishly thought her father was finally showing her love and acceptance but he is just using her to create havoc on the alliance he wants to create between the eating Clans. Sloan has been married off to Lachlan laird of the MacFarlane as part of the alliance but her farther has asked her to spy, Sloan must decide will she trust her new family of betray them to earn her father's love.
This is the first book that I have read by Adamina Young and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed Highlander's Deception. I loved how Lachlan and Sloane developed and were so believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. This book contains romance, drama, intrigue, deception, and betrayal. This book is the one that will keep you turning the pages! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, from cover to cover.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Warning, if you love a good book like I do, I couldn’t put it. I finally finished reading it at 3:00 am. I loved Sloane and Lachlan. I wanted to make them wake up to see was going on. I liked most of the characters a lot too. There was some twists and turns, with some surprises There were villains, that were easy to hate. Some very tense times, making me have to see what happened next. But as they say all’s well that ends well. There was a little sizzle to keep it interesting. I do recommend it.
What a great book! I felt sorry for Sloane. She was raised by a parent that didn't love her and didn't have anyone to teach her the things a wife needs to know. Then she was thrown into a marriage to help clans keep the peace. I liked Lachlan at first. Then I wanted to throw something at him, for the way he treated Sloane. Thank goodness for Freya, Lachlan's sister. Also some edifying was needed.
This book had me from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down! Sloane had me in tears and I loved her strength when everything seemed hopeless. Lachlan was a good man but I wanted to smack him at times. The secondary characters we well written and developed as were the main characters. I enjoyed the unexpected twists. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves their Highlanders! This is my honest and unsolicited review.
If ever a woman had a right to be insecure and fearful that would be Sloane. And if a man could understand the women in his clan then he might have all the answers to life's problems. But Laird Lachlan didn't stand a chance. Wonderful story with laughter and tears.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters came to life for me and it was quite the journey through Twista as turns, ups and downs to reach everlasting love. Thank for an epilogue, I enjoy them, I wish you would have given a little more details of their lives further in the future.
It has been a while since I've found an enjoyable book.
This was an amazing book, which kept my interest from the beginning until the end. It drew me in and broke my heart. It was full of surprises, and kept me on my toes. I only wish Sloane wasn't so forgiving at the end because some begging on his part would have been nice to see.
It is hard to not have love not been wanted all of your life to then be treated like a spy/object by your own father. But finding love, fall in love and trust is going to be a challenge for Sloane. Her fight is not for naught. My first highlander story. Just had to learn some of the wording. Via text to speech was easier to understand for me. Opp
Well written and I feel in love with the characters. I cried at the emotions the characters both to the text. The ending was a total surprise! I love how Sloan understood how it was to forgive yourself and how she shouldered her her small part in the situation. She too had to forgive herself and understand her worth,
Really enjoyed this w. Was a very exciting story.Never knew if Sloane was going to be Excepted by her new clan are not because of her father.Sloane went through a lot to prove her loyalty and love to her husband and clan.It all worked out in the end . Thanks for a hold read . Diana De.Moulin
Lachlan and Sloane are a trip. A trip worthy of a repeat. Ms young can certainly spin a fine yarn. The story was pleasantly paced and her characters were easy to understand and fall in love with. Definitely an author I will continue to keep my eye on .
