Sometimes you CAN judge a book by its cover.
When I decided to read Work in Progress: Unconventional Thoughts on Designing an Extraordinary Life by Leanne Ford and Steve Ford, I had no idea who the two people were on the book's cover. And that cover is what prompted me to read the book -- I was curious.
After reading Work In Progress, I know a lot more about this brother and sister team, the hosts behind the HGTV show, Restored by the Fords. This is a quick read and, at times, is more of a conversation between Leanne and Steve.
Building on their title, each chapter focuses on a particular life lesson whether it be showing up -- something that sounds simple, but can terrify a lot of us to looking at our own strengths and what works for each of us. At the end of most chapters, they have a Working on Progress box challenging readers to further delve into that particular chapter's theme.
Encouraged by their parents to take risks, be creative, and embrace the fact that failure is not always a setback, Leanne and Steve were given that perfect mix of boundary and encouragement to explore, and it's evident that this has been a strong building block to their success. Leanne and Steve aren't toe dippers; rather, they jump feet first into any new endeavor, which is why they don't see failure as something to be afraid of -- often it has been the fuel to many positives in both their lives..
I came away liking the people that I didn't know anything about going into this book, admiring their risk-taking attitude, and am looking forward to watching their show. #NetGalley #WorkInProgress
