If I thought Keith C. Blackmore couldn't outdo himself after the The Mountain Man series I would be sorely mistaken. Breeds has proven to be of one the best werewolf series I could ever hope to encounter. The writing is extraordinary, the characters exceptionally well developed, and the storyline equal parts suspenseful, thrilling and gruesome.
Looking forward to Breeds 3 and finding out what is in store for the "weres" (name characters use for werewolves) as the series concludes its final edition.
Narrator Sean Runnette continues to keep me spellbound.

Just tell me when the next chapter is ready!
Two Werewolves have broken the cardinal rule by eating the flesh of a fellow Were. Not because they wanted to, but at the time they had no other choice if they themselves were going to heal from their wounds and regenerate. At the time, it was the only "food-meat" available. But because of that act they have now become targets.
Another "special" Werewolf is sent to bring them down, and in the attempt IT becomes a bigger problem and threat to the entire community of Were's and Humans alike.
It's been a long time since I've been so hooked. I can't get enough of Morris and Kirk, and wanting to know if Ross Kelly is doing OK. I hope I don't have too long a wait.
If you enjoy Fantasy/Horror, I highly recommend this one, but make sure to read "Breeds" first! You won't be sorry.

The setting moves to a city and the age range of the people dying expands. Fun and violent. Do not read if you're hoping for something deep and thoughtful.

A bit of a let down from book 1. In book 1 we see hard men trying to kill each other. Here the survivors have returned home but they have given the werewolf "elders" cause to kill them. The MCs, however, aren't certain the elders will attempt to kill them and are too busy lying to themselves and each other to take that threat seriously and act intelligently. One of the MCs, Morris, is at least paranoid enough to be suspicious of were, Bailey, that shows up unannounced to hunt on his land. Bailey is himself an elder and so is much stronger than Morris. Morris escapes, barely, and, in a fluke, Bailey gets his head blown completely off. Werewolves don't die from decapitation but a werewolf that regenerates a head becomes a mindless killing machine, stronger even than typical werewolves. Therefore werewolf "wardens" are called in from all over Canada to stop Bailey.
The problem with this book is that Kirk and Morris come across as stupidly indecisive. Kirk is for much of this book an out right wuss. The author makes it abundantly clear to the reader that the elders want the MCs dead but why the MCs refuse to understand this is never convincingly related.
Bottom line: Good book that could have been great if the author would have made his main characters a bit more intelligence and decisive.

Dark stuff
About time we got rough and gritty story about werewolves it's Al, vampires lately not that I mind...although I do wish Mr Blackmore would have a go at a vampire book he would do great. Anyway... the book takes up where the first left off Kurk and Morris after healing quicker and having urges but the healing alone is a cause for concern with the other wolves and puts them under suspicion leading to another gore fest this time in a built up city area. All in all another good read and I'm going to buy the third installment in about 2 minutes...so if your reading this take my advice and hop to and start reading my fellow bibliophiles.

A solid follow up with a nice main plot that links into the overarching story
So this book picks up about a year after the end of book 1. The main plot for the book wraps up nicely by the end of it, but there’s still the bigger overarching plot involving Kirk and Morris that leads us into book 3. I definitely enjoyed the book, though there were a couple of moments that I was like “oh come on!” Where I was hoping things would go differently. There are some interesting implications for the in world lore from this one that I can’t wait to see explored further as well.

Loved it. Kirk and Morris sorta friendship has grown on me. Blackmore's the king of gritty, descriptive gore scenes. Had me cringing during the savage fight scenes. He's definitely not afraid to rip his heroes apart. There were no easy wins for sure. Loved how he was able to introduce new characters and make me care about them. I'm anxious to read the next book as the weres cravings grow stronger. Who will the Elder call next to solve his problem?

The whole idea of werewolves being the "good guys" kind of blows my mind. It's an interesting viewpoint. It's a good thing I know that there's another sequel, because although there was an ending (sort of), there was one major thread still dangling.
Good series. Surprisingly well written for a horror novel, which I always enjoy, but don't generally expect high quality unless written by Stephen King. I've enjoyed both books in this series.

The were saga continues...
The saga with Kirk and Morris continues. I was totally drawn into this story now that characters have become more developed. Now a new threat arises that could not only destroy the were wardens but humans as well. The adrenaline enriched story starts almost immediately and doesn't let up until very end. Such a great original story line with real emotional characters

Not as long as the first but it really builds into the law, and some "Humanity" to the creatures in this part of the series, but in general as most 2nd book its a information and prep for the bigger part of the story.
like the first dark, gory but more action based this time, but still very enjoyable if you've bonded to the characters in the first book. Again highly rate for those who like this area of genre.

Building speed
One of the things I love so much about books is the freedom. Freedom to shift plot lines. Freedom to change the protagonist and antagonist at will. Freedom to dispatch or elevate characters as the author seems fit.
This author and this particular book took full advantage of all the freedom provided by writing. One thing I will note is that I'd like to see a prequel on the antagonist. Their potential was that strong.

Good Second Act
This was a solid confidant of the first act. However, I'm pretty well sick and tired of Kirk's ambivalence to who and what he is. No, he's NOT a monster, but he IS a protector! He doesn't want to go on the yearly hunts that's cool, but, Damn! Man The F**K UP!
This whole melancholy bit got old the first 50 pages into the FIRST book. Plus, he can't be as DENSE as he's made or to be.
For all his falls, I'm beginning to prefer Morris, Good Help Me!?🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Hopefully, the next books will bring about some changes to Kirk.
The writers stories are solid, I just hate them being dragged down by a character that could be SO MUCH MORE!

Breeds 2 - my review
I gave a great review of the first Breeds novel, but it took a little over a week for me to read. I said it was a real page-turner.
Breeds 2 on the other hand, I read in less than 3 days! I couldn’t put the book down and stayed awake way past my normal bedtime. Can’t wait to start reading Breeds 3.

Brilliant!!
So it’s possible that a second book can be just as good, if not better than the first!!!
As you would expect, plenty of gore, action , sharp teeth and lots of fighting!! Perfect all wrapped up into an excellent werewolf story!
I’m going straight into the third now! 10/10!!

Its like John Wick with werewolves.
If you like King and Koontz, this is similar, yet the morals of the story are more toned down. Very interesting, really good takr on the werewolf mythology. The history, abilities, and physiology is veeery interesting, and adds a lot of juice to the storyline. Where's Breeds 3? I want to know what happens!!

great book…gory and full of action!
Another great book by Blackmore….great action, gory battles, and hats off to the author’s creative imagination! Be sure to read the first book in the series to fully enjoy this contemporary werewolf tale!

Second as good as first
Don't often find a series where the sequel is as good. Sure as he'll is in this case. Phenomenal character development while the action never ceases. Very good work

Absolutely the BEST version of werewolves around! I love Blackmore's style of writing and his vision of the supernatural wolf.

Very good
A very good sequel to Breeds 1. Took a lot of unexpected turns. I really enjoyed the different wardens and their personalities though Morris is my favorite.

Not a horrible book. Story is interesting but when a main character that is supposed to a hero is portrayed like a total idiot makes for a hard read.

Some really great action scenes in this one 🙏🏻 the ending was a little lackluster in my opinion as I think it escalated and ended very quickly. Not sure where the last book will go but excited to see
