Mythical creatures are real, and the world is just finding out.

Discovering that your neighbor was once -n evil, blood-sucking fiend tends to bring property values down.

Katrina Darling’s only real friend has been murdered. And not just murdered—ritually sacrificed by a serial killer. Kat is sure more death will follow. She should know … she used to be the monster plunging the blade in.

Trouble is, after three hundred years of being a vampire, Kat has forgotten what it means to be human.

One thing she does remember is that friends matter.

Now she's determined to find whoever—or whatever—killed her friend before more victims surface. But just as the hunt begins, a mysterious young man discovers exactly what she was.

Kat has a decision to make: Run and keep her monstrous past hidden, or avenge her friend and save the city from a merciless serial killer.

Family Matters, Book 2:

Family matters … but so does breathing.

All I want is to be a normal college student, doing normal human stuff … you know—date the resident hunk, study, date some more. But when you’re once undead mother pops in for a surprise visit, well, that's anything but normal.

I think it’s best to make good ol'mom's visit as short as possible.

But when a deranged stalker from our past, hell-bent on making my mother suffer, interrupts our little dysfunctional family reunion, I’m forced into a perilous fight that could very well get me, my boyfriend and everyone I know killed.

I’m Katrina Darling, a three-hundred-year-old ex-vampire who apparently still has mommy issues.

Mortality Bites #1 - The story begins as a light-hearted romp about a vampire struggling to fit in at the university among the humans. As the tale expands, the complexity of the true plotline makes itself known. As a result of the gods deserting earth, all the mythical, paranormal, and horror beings called “Others”, fell to earth and now must find their place in this human world. Our MC, Katrina “Kat” Darling is the vampire, struggling not only with fitting in but with her three-hundred-year past and the deaths she committed.
Family Matters Matter #2 – Someone is looking for Charlotte Darling, Katrina’s mother. Charlotte has gone to the university to see Kat. Charlotte was searching for something other than a family reunion. Charlotte was quite the stinker. We learn of Kit’s transformation at the age of fifteen, including the additional background of her childhood. Our girl has a tendency of saying out loud what she is thinking, which is pretty funny. I like the series so far. I may invest in the next two parts of the series. We’ll see.

I’ve heard a lot about this series recently and it didn’t disappoint. As sassy and snarky as she’s described, Kat Darling is coming of age, despite being 300 years’ old.
It’s tough but Kat is trying to reform, the effort is made harder by a mother who was a lot happier as a vampire. Charlotte Darling doesn’t really want to be human, but she is trying her best. Okay, that doesn’t look like everyone else’s best, but what’s a vampire mum to do?
Looking forward to reading more in the Gone God world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This had potential, but the writing made me cringe.

Too much repetition of certain words and phrases, just to make the story longer.

-something I did myself once in fourth grade cause I didn't want to write my essay, and thought that would bore my teacher to death... she saw through my ruse, and I had to do it over...

As a reader - Ramy Vance, maybe get a better auditor? Maybe hire my old teacher..?

This was a fun read - not my usual genre, but still fun. It was entertaining and engaging enough that I'll probably read the rest of the series as I am a bit vested in the outcome for the main characters. And no, I'm not going to go into any details as the publisher's review and blurbs from the various vendors handle all that.

The writing is very good and there are enough plot twists to keep the reader engaged.

Enjoy - I know I did.

Great series. I really enjoyed listening to this and am hoping for more audio releases from the series. Amazing characters that make you want to root for them. Narrator did a wonderful job and her voice was absolutely perfect for the part. Highly recommended.

Held my interest

I've had a mind like a mouse in a cage since I got older, all over the place, but this book held my flighty attention page 1 to the finish. Highly recommend.

Audible Plus catalogue disappoints once again - the world is interesting but the MC (and the audiobook reader) are annoying and in particular the second book has several plot holes.
