I’m the kid your parents warned you about…

Eighteen months in prison or three years at Oceanside Academy.
Reform school has met its match in me, even if it is full of young offenders. Thieves, graffiti writers, drug runners and other petty criminals reside within the walls, and I'm just like them.
But what they didn't tell me was that I'd be one of only a handful of girls in a hoard full of boys. It'll take more than just street smarts to keep my wits about me.
Everyone here has a chip on their shoulders, and I'm no different. Mine's one of the biggest, that's why they call me Asia because I have one as large as a continent.
Rules or not, these bad boys are about to discover I've earned my label for reason...
I'm the biggest misfit of them all.

**Delinquent is book one of this new gritty, contemporary reverse harem academy trilogy for 17+ readers and deals with adult themes and some subjects you may find upsetting. Contains foul language and sexual scenes**

This book isn't what I quite expected... Our heroine Asia, is like a dual scrub brush, how you ask? Well, let me put it into context for you: Asia, attitude towards people and life, in general, was like the abrasive side of the scrub brush that you would clean caked up and burnt food from a cast iron pan but her heart is like the sponge side where she actually can love and express friendliness but she holds onto her feelings like water in a sponge.... pretty much she's a walking, talking contradiction of what she tries to portray. It kinda got on my nerves but being this is the first book of the series and we're getting to know the characters as a whole, so I will let her bothersome idiosyncrasies slide for now.

Usually, I dig a heroine that's badass but her not so much. I can't put my finger on it but she just doesn't work for me. I think if I was to meet her, I don't think I would like her very much. I mean damn she's, not trying to better self. She just wants to sit in what life handed her and wallow in it and be miserable and complain about her damn life. However, now that she's in a situation that she could become a better person she doesn't even try. Ugh!!! Anyway, I will give this second book a try and hopefully the heroine will become more likable but I won't hold my breath.

I liked the line from the blurb :
I’m the kid your parents warned you about…

Asia is a graffiti artist, from the wrong side of crowds. Upon being caught during one of her escapade, she is offered a deal. Eighteen months in prison or three years at Oceanside Academy. The choice was made. But, Oceanside Academy is full of....delinquents and misfits- Thieves, graffiti writers, drug runners and other petty criminals.

Fight or flight, live or die. Beat or be beaten. Run and hide, or stay and fight. This is how it is for us. This is how we live our lives. The delinquents. The rejects. The misfits.

What Asia doesn't know is that she is going to need more than her street smarts to keep her and her loved ones safe.

I kinda loved Asia. She’s tough, determined, strong and doesn’t take any crap lying down. But, at times I found her a tad bit annoying. As for the boys, they are only just beginning to show their true strengths and colors. I am pretty much warmed to Eastern, Ford and Sonny. Camden is another subject. And considering the ending chapter, I think things may go a little awry in the next book.

Overall, it was an okay read. Now, that maybe because I'm biased after reading Hannaford Prep series which does and doesn't run along the same lines. So, yeah, okay-okay read which I am going to see through the end.

Asia is a graffiti artist. An artist who got caught tagging and is given the option of three years at Oceanside Academy or prison. So now she finds herself in a residential center run by a former convict who wants to change lives. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. Life at Oceanside follows the same rules of the streets and the rival gangs. However, Asia isn't one to follow rules.

Bea Paige has become one of my favorite authors. Her books have always been entertaining but now they have substance. There is an authenticity to her characters, a richness to her writing that has emerged with the last two series. This is technically an academy book but it's no posh boarding school with rich bullies. These kids play for keeps. Luckily Asia can hold her own. She's prickly on a good day, nasty on others. A beautiful artist with an attitude. She's a tough chick but she has a heart. When she loves, she is all in. This is a girl you can trust. If she says she has your back, she does; if she tells you she has no time for you, that's exactly what she means. Eastern, her best friend turned something more is the type of character I struggle with. He kept too many secrets, he betrayed her trust and their agreements. That's difficult for me to forget. I know his reasons but they weren't enough. He has work to do to regain trust. Sonny is a handful. Emotional, playful, volatile. Ford is almost his opposite. He's controlled violence. Camden is an unknown. He's in too deep, so it's hard to see the real man. The men all share a desire for Asia and all have the potential to be deadly. Somehow that only makes them more attractive.

This book was all about setting the stage. It's a little dark and gritty and feels legit. Now all of the characters are in place and lines are drawn. Let the games begin. These kids didn't grow up expecting a happy ending. They just want to survive. They have fight or flight honed to an art form. But there's no running from Oceanside. They're trapped. So they stay constantly on edge. Trust has to be earned. Respect doesn't come easy. Sharing just isn't a thing. I look forward to seeing how they break through each other's walls. A lifetime of habits will have to be overcome for this RH to work. I am so intrigued. How do these guys learn to come together? How do they curb their violent tendencies toward one another to make Asia happy? How will they balance being with Asia while still allowing her to be free? Remember "Belonging to someone and being owned by them are two very different things". Asia will not be caged in. It goes against her artist nature. She will be the biggest obstacle of all for any relationship/s to work. As strong as she is; the idea of love, giving her heart to someone else, letting go of some of her control will be terrifying to her. It's obvious, I am already somewhat obsessed with these characters and already wanting more.

Side note: Does anyone do crossovers better than Bea Paige??

Well well well, I was not expecting this to be so good and I'm now incredibly pleased to have found a new author whose writing I just instantly clicked with. I discovered this author on Tik tok I hadn't to date read anything by them yet but decided to take a chance anyway as this trilogy was on a black Friday deal in their shop and it just sounded so good. From the instant I picked this up I was consumed it skipped my physical TBR queue (which is huge by the way) jumping straight to the front and I didn't put this book down once. I can guarantee I'm going to finish the other two just as fast if they are equally as addictive reading.

I loved all of the gritty realism and the down-to-earth language used. This just felt so authentic and had such a raw intensity that grabbed me by my throat in a chokehold. It's not a rainbows and kittens story but rather one that's set against a more realistic backdrop and this first book does an excellent job of easing us into it all, setting the scene and moving the players into place. I adored that this takes place in the UK it felt familiar and i think that this then added to my overall enjoyment and connection. The characters involved all felt larger than life all complete individuals with their distinctive personalities and flaws.

Genre-wise it's an academy-style bully reverse harem romance with some definite dark undertones so yeah totally my jam. It's very well written and follows Asia a graffiti artist from Hackney who finds herself attending Oceanside Academy a reform school for delinquent teenagers the alternative is being sent to Juvie for her numerous crimes and if she wants to maintain a relationship with her brother's Oceanside is the better option. Once here she gets dragged into gang drama and by refusing to pick a side places a target on her back now with limited protection this makes her fair game for her enemies.

The reverse harem side of things is still a percolating pot that's currently at a steady simmer and it's still early days. I have no idea how this all going to slot together but I'm anticipating great things to come, especially with all of the emerging steam we got given here it was seriously intense with plenty of budding chemistry this is slow-burn done well and how it should be done and it totally worked for me.

So we have four potential males introduced here Eastern Asia's best friend he's always been her rock but the dynamic between them is evolving causing natural feelings of confusion for Asia. Sonny is a wise-cracking lady's man with a sunny smile that's masking a whole lot of rage issues. He has a protective streak a mile wide for Asia despite her not initially giving him a chance. We also have Ford he's head of one of the gangs at Oceanside he's stoic private and contained and prizes loyalty above all else. He's also takes a shine to Asia almost straight away becoming extremely protective of her. We then have Candem who Asia managed from first contact to set herself up as an enemy and adversary. He's a complicated one whose actions totally contradict themselves time and time again. He also heads his own crew one Asia disrespected before her arrival on campus. Finally, there's Asia herself and boy this girl is prickly with a capital P. She's a mix of bad attitude street smarts sass and she covers up all of her many insecurities with a smart mouth and a middle finger to authority.

This is all told from Asia's POV and her background has certainly shaped her into the girl she is today. Her main priorities though are Eastern, his mum Tracy and little brother and her younger brothers who are in the foster care system. Asia lets few past her defensive walls as she has learnt that people let you down all the time, especially adults.

This is well-written powerful stuff and I can't wait to read more from this author now. On a final note just want to emphasise that this one is definitely new-adult despite the younger ages of the characters. This was a fabulous start to the series and I can't wait to continue on now.

So I am going to give this book 3 stars as a whole because I really did like the plot. I liked the idea behind the story and I think it has a lot of promise. But I could not get over the FMC. Normally I am all for a tough heroine but she was just annoying. She was content to sit in her self-pity and wallow away. Also a lot of her arguments don’t make sense. For example when Easton asks why they can’t be together she says “we just can’t”... wtf! That is not good enough for me.

Anyways now that that’s done here are my final thoughts. I would cautiously recommend. I probably won’t be reading the next book.

After reading Freestyle by Bea Paige I just had to go and check out some her back list!

Delinquent is a RH, Bully romance with a twist as Asia gets sent to reform academy after getting arrested and being given a second chance. Oceanside Academy or Prison.

Things get interesting though as the gang life that she’s done so much to avoid on the outside has seeped its way into the academy and is pulling her in several directions.

Which side will she choose? The boys that she is getting close too but she hasn’t known for long? The best friend who she was closest too on the outside or will things just completely blow up in her face and the choice taken out of her hands?!

Delinquent is full of secrets, leaving me with more questions than answers after that cliffhanger.

I'm reading them all in the wrong order, So I already knew some of the characters from academy of stardom but luckily it isn't too bad to do so and the accidental spoilers because of it don't annoy me much.

But if it does bother you and you don't know where to start, I think the correct order is starting with the freed Brothers, then read through these 3, continue with the academy of Stardom, and then read through the Masks & the Dancer duet (1&2) I'm not entirely sure that's the correct order but that's what I gathered from talking to other ppl.

I love that all of these books take place in the same universe. The characters really grew on me and getting into this book didn't take much effort at all.

I like the setting and can easily relate to a lot of the newly introduced characters. Will definitely read the next two as I appear to be reading through the majority of Bea paige"s books atm atm.

Damn what a good book, i love Alicias aka Asias don´t fuck with me and that she don´t take any kind of shit and have no probs to stand up for herself and fight back. We have the alpha protector, the gang leader, the playboy and the best friend. I felt like it was a nice ending not really a chliffhanger so i am thankful

I'm going to round up to a three. While I thought it was OK, sometimes I feel like the two-stars Goodreads uses sends a much harsher message about the book in question.

Delinquent has a premise that I really liked because 1) I feel like I don't get to see the "alternative school" setting very often, and that specific location already sets an expectation for what many of the characters might be like. 2) I was looking forward to a tough FMC who was a survivor and was used to not taking sh*t from anyone or sacrificing her own wants/needs. 3) I've always loved characters who had some kind of damage or issue to overcome- who doesn't love a character that's an underdog in at least one way?

That being said, the book DOES deliver on all of those reasons for why I was initially interested. We get Alicia (but don't call her that)/Asia, who is tough, outspoken, and unwilling to be owned by anyone but herself. I like that she's no one's victim, yet she still has the scars from her tragic family circumstance. She doesn't trust easily, definitely ignores the feelings that are tough or uncomfortable to process- like the fact that she's in love with her male best friend, Eastern, who's obviously in love with her too, and she lets the fiery rage and protective instinct inside of her have way too much sway over her actions. Yet, I do like her. I understand WHY she is the way she is, and that helps me be more sympathetic to the parts of her that might seem a little ugly when they rear their head.

It's more the men that I'm uncertain about. Looking at their basic profiles, the alpha protector, the gang leader, the best friend, and the playboy, you're getting a nice variety. But Eastern, the best friend, and the playboy were the ones who I felt like were the most redeeming of the bunch. They had the clearest motivations for their attachment to Asia, and I felt like they were also the most likable. Ford, the alpha protector, and Camden, the gangleader, were less appealing to me. I just wasn't entirely certain what their motivations were- OK, yes, they like Asia, they're drawn to her personality and attitude, but one minute Camden seems like he's turning into a guy who is going to put her first, then it's back to he can't tell her anything. Then it seems like he's trying to protect her, but then he also needs her obedience and public fealty. It was just this back and forth that I wasn't a huge fan of. Ford was more likable than Camden, so that was a plus, but I still wanted more from the connection between him and Asia. What does he think he can get from her? When he confides in her- the little we get to learn about him- what drives that?

There was just a lot more that I hoped for from the guys and the relationships. That being said, I think there's a lot in Delinquent that many readers will enjoy, but it just didn't WOW me.

Amazing doesn’t cut it!

Oh Bea Paige, you and Asia rocked my world with this read!

This book came out of left field for me. I came in hoping not to give too high of expectations because I had been on this endless bully book train with so many similarities it was hard to tell them apart. But let me tell you, Bea over exceeded my expectations.

This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. It was truly unique in its own right, and glued my eyes from page one.

Asia was a total and complete badass. The way she wrapped her hands around your heart and truly made you feel why she is the way she is, got me. There was no point in this book where I felt Bea was trying too hard to make her into something she wasn’t. Asia was just Asia, take it or leave it.

The boys in this book and the story building were amazing. The transitions were nearly seamless.... all in all this was truly and honestly a 5 star read from me.

Thanks for giving me an amazing series to follow and sit on the edge of my seat for Bea, you are fabulous!

*WIP Review*

I see potential in the story, especially with the presumed four Hs being at odds (different crews and allegiances) yet have that "stronger together" thing going for them. And I liked how each offers bits of their souls, secrets and raw emotions to the FMC.... Even when she's the prickliest of pears

The FMC was a struggle for me. I just grew tired of her. She just feels very one note with her rage and fight / mouth off mode. She's constantly saying the opposite of what she feels - shutting people out and not offering any honesty or vulnerability - and it just grew tiring. It's her mode and motto to tell everyone to F off and be ready to throw down.... And she doesn't let anyone get close or trust them because all she's known is being let down. But.... Is that living? She's just never going to give anyone a chance?

She didn't feel like a badass FMC to me. She comes across as petulant and stubborn to her own detriment. Being a "badass" isn't all attitude and telling everyone that you can take care of yourself and don't need anyone. 🙄🙄🙄
It's only book 1, so maybe there's growth for her coming up.

This is an academy book. It’s also a bullymance. It’s also an RH. Those have been done before, sure..but they haven’t been done like THIS.

I read the blurb, saw the cover and thought “yep..I need this in my life!” And you guys..it’s just honestly such a good book. It doesn’t read or feel like what’s out there right now. It’s just..more. You’ve got your female lead who is unapologetic with her loyalty and devotion to her friend(s) and surrogate family. Honestly I loved that about her, so so much!

While this is an RH and it’s all about the #whychoose — I definitely have a favorite and hot damn I can’t wait to experience more of him in book 2!

If you’ve read bullymance, academy and RH books before in the past and are thinking “okay, it’s just one more of the same..” I’m here to tell you that it is NOT more of the same. It is SO MUCH MORE. It’s better than you’re imagining it to be. It’s better than others you’ve read in this genre. It’s just, MORE. You need to read it. You really, really, realllyyy do.

This was a freaking amazingly realistic and gritty start to a new series! Asia is sent off to Oceanside Acdemy, a reform school, which is also her last chance to change her ways before she’s sent to jail. Honestly, she only takes this option over jail because she’s worried for her brothers who live with a foster family and still wants to be in their lives. Oceanside Academy isn’t what she thought it would be, especially not the person running it. Asia has the badass and strong survivor personality that I think deep down everyone wants. She isn’t afraid to fight for what she believes in, doesn’t back down, tells it how it is, and loves fiercely for those who she deems worthy. Her interactions with each of her guys are so different, but the attraction is definitely there even if she doesn’t want it to be. I’m not sure how I feel about Eastern, her best friend, since he broke her trust and kept so many secrets. Camden is the leader of the Hackney Hackers, one of the gangs, and I’m not quite sure how I feel about him except that he’s tough and sinful. Ford is the leader of the No Names, the rival gang, and he’s protective, serious, and the only one who’s ever challenged Camden and won. Sonny is wreckless, emotional, and playful and I fell for his character from the moment he was introduced! The secondary characters are well developed and their roles are realistic even if you want to hurt them for hurting Asia. I have a love-hate relationship with every single character, but I think Pink and Sonny are my absolute favorites besides Asia. I’ve read plenty of reverse harem and a handful of contemporary romance books, but I’ve never read anything like this before. I love what Bea has created- it’s angsty, raw, and has such a “bad boy, bad girl” vibe!

Good start to a series but the ending is making me rethink

I really enjoyed this book but I almost was turned off by the foreshadowing that happened in chapter 6 and a few others, I’m not a fan of foreshadowing and telling me shit is going to go down later in the book then I sit there reading and can’t enjoy the moment because I’m all tense waiting for things to go down. Luckily I persisted and the story got interested and so far none of the guys she’s interested betrayed her in a way that freaked me out. So the tension I had was for nothing.

I do like the series but the ending kind of annoyed me and I’m not sure how I feel about Asia’s decision. I really feel like it’s going to be a problem, but maybe not? I’m not sure how this is going to go down so I am intrigued to go further. Maybe take a break first.

Asia is a hard character but also has her own way of happiness. She’s complex, multifaceted and tough. I like her.

I've read so many reverse harem books, that I'm finding them kind of redundant. I picked this up hoping that it would be gritty and different enough to pique my interest, and I'm glad to report that it has exceeded my expectations.

Asia is tough, scrappy and a very likable heroine. She's damaged, flawed, and fiercely loyal, and these qualities make her such a endearing and lovable protagonist. Eastern, Camden, Sonny and Ford are all so different and complex. I was fascinated with every interaction that Asia had with any of them. This story is entertaining from beginning to end. It's so good, that I stayed up until 5am finishing it!

If you're looking for a steamy, reverse harem book with a fascinating plot, then I highly recommend that you pick this up! I just hope that the rest to the trilogy lives up to my high expectations.

Absolutely amazing!!! I first heard about this book and main character Asia in Bea Paige’s Freestyle book, which I read a couple weeks ago. If you haven’t read Freestyle go read it now!

Bea’s writing is phenomenal. She makes her characters so life like. You feel their ups and downs in all her books. Asia was no exception to this. Asia was sentenced to Oceanside Academy. There were great moments but also some sad. Being sentenced to Oceanside Academy wasn’t a joy. Asia’s life is no walk in the park. Her life was tough and so is she. But no matter what, you feel for Asia. You are pushing for her to come out on the other side.

Get ready for up and down! Bea Paige is a author who I absolutely love! This is a must read!!!

I swear, RH by Bea Paige is my most favourite thing.. shit hasn’t even spiced up that much and I’m already hot!😂

We’re briefly introduced to Asia in the Academy of Stardom series but this story is her and her boys and I am here for it 👏

Asia’s found herself in an academy surrounded by a bunch of juvenile delinquents with 80% of the students being male and 2 gangs both trying to take ownership of her.

I dunno bout her but I’m ready to be owned by them all 😂

I read Bea Paige so quickly, she’s an incredible author and I fall in love with her characters and stories.

I’m ready for Reject 🤪

I do love a good bully romance and this one has the added bonus of four hot bad guys. I liked the added twist of Asia being a 'bad girl' and she's sure giving them a run for their money! Loved all the different characters, Sonny is kinda my fav at the moment because he's so funny and sweet, I'm hoping we get more from Camden in book two, I kinda feel there are alot more twists to come and I can't wait!! This is one book you dont want to miss, it will hook you from the first page!

Okay so this book was so good and different from what I’m used to. I have questions because everyone has secrets. It’s hard to say who you can really trust including the principal and therapist, are they somehow involved? Or the Freed brothers. There is definitely more going on than meets the eye. I love Sonny and Ford and even Eastern. I know I’ll like Camden but not yet. I’m glad she laid Monk out. There are going to be twists and turns in this series, I can feel it.

Gritty contemporary reverse harem

The mc is sixteen and does not come from a happy background. She gets in trouble with the law and is sent to reform school instead of juvie. She is just trying to survive in a world full of violence and gangs. The characters are very layered and interesting. Good start to a great series.

I loved this book! Asia’s had a hard life and only trusts few people, and fights for what she believes in. The court forcing her to Oceanside could just be what saves her life or breaks her. So many bullies and a few that want to claim her for their own...I love Ford, Sonny and yes even Camden, and of course Eastern! Monk needed his a$$ kicked! I love this filthy, dirty gang world!

Dark, gritty, compelling. I don’t know where to begin. Asia, I love her. Tough as Stone with a heart. She’s mean, she’s got attitude, she’s bad and she knows it. This isn’t your typical academy story. This isn’t for the rich and perfect.
These kids are basically inmates. It was academy or prison for Asia. She will be tested and tried at this new “prison”.
They’ve all done wrong, they’re all on edge and ready to fight. Asia’s men will have to break down walls and prove they’re worth her time, can they do it?
This is totally different then Bea Paige’s other work. She nailed it. This is book one in an RH academy series, it’s dark, there may be some triggers for people. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens next. I have theories but I won’t pos them here. Now, go read the book!

Fantastic!

What a fantastic read! My emotions are all over the place!! Asia is full of fire...she draws her men in (very unintentionally) like moths to her flame!! Definitely got a love/hate thing going on with the guys....Well lust/hate might be more accurate!! Can’t wait to read more...after that ending, it seems like things are about to get even more interesting!
