Things get pretty hare-y when rabbit rescue and rehab expert Jules Bridge and her brilliant bunny go undercover to catch a murderer hiding in plain sight . . .
When Juliette “Jules” Bridge began caring for rabbits on her beloved Fur Bridge Farm in rural New Hampshire, she never imagined she'd be solving murders with one of them. Not only can her black-and-white rabbit, Bun, communicate with her telepathically, he happens to be a pretty sharp sleuth. Bun comes along as part of a petting pen for a birthday celebration—but for one of the guests, the fun is soon over. Evelyn Montgomery is found lying in the bushes with a knife in her chest, and the distraught hostess begs Jules to help . . .
To her surprise, so does Sheriff Jack Carver—who usually discourages Jules from getting involved in criminal investigations. But now she's drafted at the last minute to fill in for Evelyn as a judge at a rabbit show, and Jack wants her to go undercover. Yet as she and Bun expose the dark—albeit fluffy—underbelly of the world of rabbit competition, a killer is ready to act as judge, jury, and executioner . . .

Who’s Dead, Doc? by J.M. Griffin is the second book of the cozy Jules & Bun Mystery series. As with most cozy series each book in this series will contain it’s own mystery that will be solved within the book so they all may be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. While this series mainly falls into the cozy mystery genre it does have a touch of fantasy to it in the fact it has a talking bunny helping the protagonist solve crime.
In the first book of the series, Left Fur Dead, readers were introduced to Juliette “Jules” Bridge who is the owner of Fur Bridge Farm in New Hampshire which she has lovingly turned into a rescue for rabbits. Jules is willing to take on any rabbit needing her care and rehabilitates those injured or abused.
While Jules tends to all those in her care she does share a special connection with one particular bunny named Bun. When Jules first took in Bun she didn’t think it was possible but Bun is able to speak with Jules telepathically which allows Bun to help Jules solve another murder when one of the guests at a birthday celebration is found with a knife in the chest.
The Jules & Bun Mystery series is of course another of those quirky and comedic cozies that I am most drawn to and end up loving. Jules is a likable enough lead but of course Bun is the one stealing the show most of the time and I can’t help but love him. If you like cozies with a little twist to them allowing them to step out of the ordinary then this would be one series to try.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Juliette “Jules” Bridge and her very special rabbit, Bun, are back and are hopping right into another murder case.
Jules brings her bunnies to a child’s birthday party but before the cake is even served one of the adult guests is found dead in the bushes. Evelyn Montgomery was well known in the rabbit world and Jules had met her when she inquired about having one of her rabbits, Petra, participating in an upcoming contest. With Evelyn out of the picture, Jules has been asked to take her place as a judge for the event. Sheriff Jack Carver is thrilled to have her on the scene with most of his suspects and actually asks her to keep her eyes and ears open and report back to him. Little does he know it will be Bun going undercover in places Jules can’t. His special talents put him in unique places where he uncovers some vital clues.
When I started Left Fur Dead a rabbit sidekick took a little getting used to but starting Who’s Dead, Doc? it seemed absolutely normal. Bun communicates with Jules telepathically but can do so much more. He is also one smart bunny, with clever ideas. Bun does find himself in a perilous situation the hikes up the suspense nicely. His rescuer Jules clearly loves all her rabbits and takes such good care of them but Bun is her special pet. Fur Bridge Farm is quite a place with a vet on-site and a wonderful yarn shop. Veterinarian Jess and Jules have become great friends. In fact, there share some delicious sounding meals quite often. Jules also has a couple of young helpers with fantastic ideas. The characters have all grown since the first book and continue to evolve. The dialogue is realistic, but the interactions between Jules and Bun are priceless.
Who’s Dead, Doc? takes us into the world of Rabbit Shows. I didn’t even know these were a thing but shouldn’t really have been so surprised. The victim crossed paths with many in the rabbit world that really weren’t melancholy about her being dead. The plot twisted around revealing several suspects. There were also some “hare-raising” moments that turned things in a new direction. I loved that the sheriff and Jules worked together for the most part. His wife seemed to influence him to see Jules in a new light and that was refreshing.
Ms. Griffin has written a very entertaining story with charming characters. Who Dead, Doc? is a fine addition to this series and I am looking forward to my next visit with Jules and Bun.
I enjoyed this fun cozy mystery. Bun is a great amateur sleuthing partner! The abruptness of the ending by the author took me by surprise, but it was a very entertaining story.
Jules has a rabbit rescue and carries around a rabbit that ‘talk’ to her by telepathy. At a rabbit show the organizer is killed and Jules and her rabbit look for the killer. this book just seemed silly and not worth the time to read it.
Who's Dead, Doc is the second book in this fun series by J.M Griffin. When I read the first book, I was unsure how I felt about the story line. The idea of a telepathic bunny seems impossible, however, after reading this book, I actually found myself glued to the pages, laughing and enjoying the story. Jules runs Fur Bridge Farm in rural New Hampshire, a rescue for rabbits that need good homes. As part of her rabbit rehabilitation, some of Jules rabbits make appearances at birthday parties. It's during one of these events that an untimely death takes place. With her trusty sidekick beside her, Jules and Bun go deep into the world of show rabbits to find the answers.
Be sure to follow Jules and Bun on this exciting adventure. #WhosDeadDoc #NetGalley
I love this series! I love that Jules can communicate with Bun the rabbit and he helps her out with the mysteries she is trying to solve. Using a bunny to help solve crimes is unique in the world of cozies and with this series it really works.
Jules is a great character and her judging a rabbit contest in this story made it so much fun! I'm hoping that in the stories to come she will share her and Bun's secret with Jessica.

Review:
The characters are well rounded and well developed. Jules and Bun work well together and they are ready to solve the murder. They have help from Sheriff Jack Carter, who wants them to go undercover at a rabbit show, just perfect for Jules and Bun. They will need to put their thinking caps on and hopefully they can figure it out before it is too late. Bun will have to get into some tricky situations if they want to solve this one.
The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The mystery was well plotted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery, with a touch of fantasy. I cannot wait to see what adventure awaits Jules and Bun next.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.
Part of the fun of Who’s Dead, Doc? by J. M. Griffin is watching how effectively our heroine Juliette “Jules” Bridge manages her complex and demanding schedule. She juggles birthday parties (her rabbits perform tricks for delighted children), a multi-day rabbit competition, her budding store/school for crafters who spin and weave goods from rabbit fur, and daily duties at Fur Bridge Farm meeting the needs of her group of rescue rabbits.
Cozy mystery detectives are never loners. They tend to live in small towns. They attend community events and know everyone there. Jules has surrounded herself with a cast of friends and employees any reader might envy. Each one is devoted, loyal and ready to step in to help Jules out at a moment’s notice. Whether she needs someone to feed the rabbits, take charge of the store, start dinner or even drive her to a murder victim’s house for a slightly illicit activity, her peeps are ever ready to step in.
And Jules eats well too. Mmm. Slow cooker meatloaf. Along with the business of everyday life, Jules’ days are filled with delicious meals and lots and lots of coffee, because Jules has lots of friends to drink coffee with, including the often irritable but always protective Sheriff Jack Carver. Jack is not thrilled at having to ask Jules to help him investigate a murder, but he figures she’ll be safe enough as long as he has patrolmen assigned to keep an eye on her. Not sure why he thinks this since even though Jules doesn’t go out of her way to find trouble, trouble seems to have no difficulty finding her. Not unusual for a detective, cozy or otherwise.
But here’s where Who’s Dead, Doc? parts ways with the average cozy mystery.
Many fictional detectives have a sidekick. Sherlock has Holmes. Spenser has Hawk. Jules’ sidekick is a self important and utterly charming rabbit named Bun with whom she has a telepathic connection. Bun is convinced he has superpowers and insists on being a part of any case Jules works on. He’s not far wrong, either. Like Watson, Bun is protective of his partner. Like Hawk, he occasionally has to resort to fisticuffs, or, in Bun’s case, to kicking and biting. And because his hearing is so acute, Bun is uniquely positioned to overhear conversations Jules cannot.
Jules’ struggle to keep Fur Bridge Farm on track made me wonder how much of the world she lives in was based on reality. So I did a little research. Wow. I had no idea the world of rabbit rearing, training and showing was so intensive and competitive. There are some pretty amazing videos of rabbits jumping hurdles and tackling obstacles online, although there were surprisingly few of rabbits communicating telepathically. Bun may be the only one. Still, next time I’m near a rabbit, I’m going to listen extra hard.
I recommend this book – it’s a lot of fun. But be warned, you may be overcome with a desire to make a slow cooker meatloaf after you finish it. And to follow it up with lots and lots of coffee.
A very unique and original sleuthing team! Jules and her partner in crime solving, Bun, are back and this time the competition is playing for keeps! A local event, showcasing rabbits in agility, speed, and beauty, has Jules and Bun trying to find a murderer before they're the next victims!
I had heard about this cozy mystery series, with a sleuthing team of the owner of the Fur Bridge Ranch, where abused and abandoned rabbits are cared for and adopted and her rabbit who telepathically "talks" to her. I enjoy cozy mysteries with animals and had heard good things about the book so I gave it a try and I had a fun time crime solving with Jules and Bun!
The mystery is fast-paced and I loved the interaction with Jules and Bun. The supporting characters were relatable and enhanced the story. Jules is practical, kind and caring and the lovable Bun makes you forget he's a rabbit with his sleuthing abilities.
I'm ready for another adventure. I received an ARC from NetGalley of this book and this review represents my honest and fair opinions of this book.
This second Jules & Bun Mystery was as cute as the first one. Main character, Jules, lives on a farm where she rescues and rehabilitates bunnies. One of the bunnies, Bun, communicates telepathically with Jules. In this book, they are guests at a birthday part where another guests turns up dead. It is up to Jules and Bun to solve the mystery after the hostess of the party begs Jules for help.
This was a fun and entertaining cozy mystery. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I'm looking forward to more of Jules and Bun in the future.
This is an enjoyable book. I loved the rabbits especially Bun. This book has many twists in it, it goes from a child's birthday party to a rabbit show to a rabbit farm and all around. The ending was great, I had no idea who the killer was until it was revealed. #WhosDeadDoc #NetGalley
I really like the characters, the setting and the idea of a telepathic bunny. In this one the main character starts by working closely with the sheriff, but then he asks her to stop. However, the MC doesn't. and ends up in some sticky situations.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
If you have not read this series, you need to. Such a fun read. This is the second book in the Jules & Bun Mystery. Jules owns a rabbit rehab farm where she takes in rescue rabbits. Her personal rabbit is Bun who can talk to her telepathically and becomes a sidekick in solving mysteries. Jules' rabbits entertain at children's birthday parties and different events. It would normally be an easy event except near the end of the latest party Evelyn Montgomery is found dead in the woods behind the house. The host wants Jules to find out who did it even though Sheriff Carver doesn't like her to get involved. But this time he ask for her help on some safe investigating or so he thought. Jules and Bun set out to find clues as to who wanted Evelyn dead and why. Evelyn was not well liked so the number of suspects keeps growing. This story just flows and you get so caught up in it. Love all the characters especially the rabbits.
Who’s Dead, Doc? By J.M. Griffin Book #2: Jules and Bun Mystery Series Source: NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Rating: 4½/5 stars
Jules Bridge is not a cop, nor is she a detective, yet, much to the great consternation of the local sheriff, she is a curious human with a knack for sussing out the truth of a situation. To be fair, some of her sussing out is aided by her constant companion, Bun, a rescued rabbit who can communicate telepathically with Jules. While the sheriff has often warned Jules off her investigations and poking about, he has also had to admit there are simply things she can do and find out that he cannot.
While the sheriff isn’t happy about bringing a civilian into his investigations, he currently has a case on his hands that is going nowhere quickly. While no one in town particularly misses Evelyn Montgomery, they do want to know who plunged a knife deep into her chest during a child’s birthday party. Jules and Bun were at the party so, to the sheriff’s way of thinking, they are the perfect pair to start asking questions and rooting out information. What’s more, Evelyn Montgomery was actively involved in the local, upcoming rabbit show which gives Jules and Bun a perfect place to start asking their questions.
The rabbit show is truly an eye-opener for both Jules and Bun. Not only do they discover how awful the shows can be, but they also discover that no one liked Evelyn Montgomery, especially not her colleagues. In fact, the more digging Jules does, the more suspects she uncovers. Narrowing down the field of suspects is going to take some super-sleuthing which leads Jules and Bun to a little breaking and entering, a little kidnapping, a little rescuing, and a lot of blackmail. Yes, Evelyn Montgomery was not a nice person and, even in death she is causing awful things to happen.
The Bottom Line: Round two of the Jules and Bun Mystery series was even more entertaining than the first. The training wheels have come off and Jules and Bun are officially sleuths! I found this book to be a bit more complex than the first and that is because the author has already largely set the scene in the first book. This time around, there is not as much to explain and describe which leaves more time and space for sleuthing and shenanigans. With that said, this isn’t a frivolous read at all, simply a more detailed and complex story that I found wholly engaging. The characters – especially Bun! – are evolving and growing in their confidence and are supported by a cast of generally likeable minor characters. Once again, the setting is idyllic, the pace is just the right speed, the story is just complex enough to keep you guessing, and the characters are the highlight of the whole shebang! I am absolutely on board with this series and can’t wait to see what kind of mischief Bun and Jules get into next.
This is such a delightful series ! I loved Jules and Bun. This is the second in series of what I predict will be a successful long running cozy series. I have read the first in series and adore this series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity.
Jules is a favorite character of mine as she runs a rabbit rescue and rehabilitation farm, Fur Bridge Farm. She is devoted to the care of the rabbits and a advocate for their care and safety. She holds classes on rabbit car and even how to do spinning with their fur. I love how the author incorporates the care she takes with each rabbit for their well being. As a animal advocate I appreciate this series as the author brings attention to the advocacy for rabbits and how so many are abandon by their owners.
Jules and her adorable side kick bunny "Bun" have a secret as she communicates with Bun telepathically/I love their relationship and conversations. Bun has helped Jules already solve one murder . Bun travels with Jules in a pouch and is known throughout town for their loving relationship. Its their special bond that Bun has with Jules that helps them both solve another crime. This communication lends much humor when Bun communicates with Jules when others are present. I love this fun side of this cozy series.
In this next in series Jules is attending a Birthday Party with some of her rabbits. Part of her advocacy for rabbits is education and she enjoys taking them to events and teaching people about their care. When a murder occurs at the Birthday part Bun and Jules are once again on the case. She is asked to step up and help as she is friends with the local detective. Bun is a great help as they piece together clues to solve a complicated case.
I love this charming series that has a theme of animal advocacy and love for animals. Jules is a favorite charcter and savvy at solving crimes. The mystery was well crafted with twist and turns to keep me guessing. I look forward to the next in series.
Juliette Bridge (Jules for short) is the owner of Fur Bridge Farm in Windermere, New Hampshire. Juliette raises bunnies and finds good homes for them as well as providing care for bunnies needing rescue from deplorable situations. There is one little rescue named Bun that lives in the house with Juliette. Bun is not only great company but communicates with Juliette via mental telepathy and his communications are in italicized font throughout the cozy.
One of Juliette’s incomes for the farm is entertaining children at birthday parties with the bunnies but at the current party before the birthday cake is served guests are hurriedly being escorted off the property. And this time Sheriff Jack Carver is actually asking for Juliette’s help instead of telling her to stay out of his investigation. Bun is ready to sleuth with Juliette as he loves to remind Juliette of his superpowers and keen senses. However, Juliette isn’t sure when there will be time to investigate as in addition to the work at the farm she has also entered Petra, another of her rabbits in the 1st local rabbit show. She and Bun would never have guessed that there would be a connection between the birthday party and the rabbit show. As the list of suspects increased this investigation became more complicated.
I love Juliette and Bun. Juliette loves her rabbits and gives them excellent care and is a kind and considerate employer. Bun is an adorable rabbit and I delight in the conversations between the two particularly when they’re in investigative mode or when Bun is hungry.
This series is simply charming! So don’t snoozle (nod off to sleep with a drooping head and twitching eyelids and nose) like a rabbit and scamper off to read ”Who's Dead, Doc?”
This is the second book in Jules and Bun Mystery Series. Like this one, the first one was cute.
Juliette “Jules” Bridge rescues ad provides lifelong shelter for rabbits. She has one, Bun, who is her best friend and plays Watson to her Sherlock. While the bond between the two is undeniable, it’s their ability to communicate telepathically with each other. A stretch I know, but it works. I wish I had telepathic abilities with my pet rabbit; it would be useful.
Jules’ Fur Bridge Farm is in rural New Hampshire, although the lack of scenery could make this Anywhere, USA. Jules makes her living taking the rabbits to kids’ birthday parties along with a friend who does a puppet show.
At this outing, Evelyn, a local woman, is found dead near the party. Bun has a desire to get involved with the investigation, but Jules is reluctant, especially given the events from Book One.
Against his better judgement, Sheriff Jack Carver enlists Jules’ help. Evelyn was the judge at a local rabbit competition, which is much like a dog show. So Jules and Bun go undercover to help solve Evelyn’s murder.
The cast of characters from Book One are also here: the college kids who help out at Fur Bridge Farm, Jessica the vet who has a clinic at said farm, the rabbits (especially Willy Walkabout, a bun who is an escape artist), Molly who runs the gift shop and teaches spinning classes and more.
If you’re looking for a page-turner, this isn’t the book for you. However it is fun. I already miss Jules and Bun. Can’t wait for Book Three! “Who’s Dead, Doc?” receives 4 out of 5 stars in Julie’s world.
Who's Dead, Doc is the second in the Jules & Bun Mystery series set in small town New Hampshire and featuring Jules Bridge, owner of Fur Bridge Farm, a rabbit rescue. Jules and her rabbits have been hired to appear along with friend and puppeteer, Bailey at a children's birthday party and she's brought along her sidekick Bun, the telepathic rabbit. As the party is breaking up, Jules discovers the body of Evelyn Montgomery lying dead in the bushes.
Jules didn't know the woman well but she'd had a few dealings with her recently as Evelyn was in charge of the upcoming rabbit show, where Jules was going to enter Petra, her long hair rabbit that she'd trained to do tricks. Based upon the argument Evelyn had with another woman at the party, and the negative comments the show attendees are making about her, Jules is really not surprised that someone murdered the woman. The host of the birthday party asks Jules to find out who killed Evelyn and things fall into place when Sheriff Jack Carver also asks for her help in tracking down the killer.
A plot that hops along with returning characters and cute rabbits. The book seems to end a little abruptly and once again I was left wondering why nobody ever seems to adopt the rabbits that Jules has rehabilitated. I was also a little disappointed that Andrew Stone, the veteran from the first book doesn't make an appearance in this addition to the series.
I received an advanced copy of Who's Dead, Doc from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.
I enjoyed the previous book and am glad to say that this one isn't suffering from sophomore slump. It's as much fun as Left Fur Dead. Having always wanted a rabbit as a child and being told no, I have a soft spot for them. Jules rescues bunnies that have been abused or abandoned, some staying with her and others getting placed in furrever homes. One of the activities for them is doing tricks at events like kids birthday parties and that is how this case starts for the fun pair of sleuths, Jules and her telepathic bunny sidekick, Bun .During the festivities one of the guests turns up dead and Jules is asked to help find the killer. Though the police probably should tell Jules to stay out of it her knowledge of rabbits and all things associated with rabbits make her the person they need on the case. With help from Bun, Jules follows the killers trail and tries not to become the next victim. I sure learned a lot about rabbits. Though I knew that they could be trained to do tricks I learned a whole lot about rabbit shows. I would love to enter Jules's world and volunteer to care for her rabbits. Just let me stay on the sidelines when the bodies show up. Jules and Bun do a great job as a pair. The mystery was a satisfying puzzle with a good supporting cast and enough clues to keep me guessing. It was the perfect rainy day escape. My thanks to the publisher, Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
In Who's Dead, Doc Jules and Bun are at it again. Jules is at a birthday party as she has set up a petting pen for it with her rabbits. Things go wrong when Jules and Bun find the body of Evelyn Montgomery. Bun can't wait to start solving the crime but Jules is not so sure but then Sheriff Carter actually asks Jules if she could help because he was short handed and she is in a place that she could help. Evelyn was going to be a judge at a pet show and Jules was going to enter the show but the rabbit she was entering gets sick, so she is asked to be a judge. This puts her in even a better place to snoop with Bun.
She about gives Sheriff Carter a heart attack with how many times she almost gets herself in some serious trouble as someone is really not wanting her to snoop. She also holds back some info from the Sheriff making him a bit upset but in the end they figure out whodunit.
Again I really loved Bun he is just so cute! Though sometimes I think he likes trying to figure things out a bit to much and that gets Jules in trouble. I really like Jules though and love how much she loves her rabbits and her farm. I really like the Sheriff and his wife, plus Jules friends. It just has a fun cast of characters. It really had a good mystery as I had a hard time figuring it out and didn't have the whole things figured out but parts of it.
I think this is starting to be a new favorite series as it's just a lot of fun! Recommend it!
Amateur sleuths Jules and Bun, her telepathic rabbit, return in Who’s Dead, Doc?
Running a rabbit rescue farm and a store offering yarn and classes seems like a lot of work on their own. But when Jules is asked to look into the murder of nasty Evelyn by the hostess of the birthday party where it occurred, she jumps in with both feet. Evelyn argued with both the hostess and Jules just a few minutes before being stabbed and shoved in the bushes. Good thing Jules has a telepathic rabbit sidekick to assist with the investigation. Bun has better hearing than a human detective but also a strong belief in his “superpowers”.
I previously read the first book in the series, Left Fur Dead. I thought the lack of clues made the murderer impossible to guess. In Who’s Dead, Doc?, the murderer seems too obvious. It was so easy that I originally thought it was a red herring so I was disappointed when the obvious suspect was revealed as the killer at the end. However, I did enjoy the interplay between Bun and Jules. The setting at a rabbit competition was innovative too. Unfortunately, I read cozy mysteries for the mystery too so 3 stars.
Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Princess Fuzzypants here: As a Maine Coon, I am partial to stories with kitties but I also love bunny tales. In this series Jules and her rabbit Bun communicate through telepathy and together they make a pawsome team. Jules runs a rabbit rescue farm and saved Bun from her former owner who thought he was the devil’s spawn just because he could speak to her. Pfft! What an evil and silly woman. This time Jules and Bun enter into the world of Rabbit Shows. Oh boy. The backstabbing and intrigue would make any respectable rabbit thump his or her feet in warning. She is further embroiled when she is asked to replace a judge who was murdered at a party where Jules and her bunnies were entertaining. The lady who hired her is the prime suspect and asks Jules to investigate. Then her friend/nemesis, Jack Carver, asks her to keep her eyes and ears open during the show. Of course, Jules approaches this with her usual energy but when she is attacked and Bun is bunny-napped, there is no way she is going to back off. She gets into all sorts of trouble and danger but she and Bun do reveal the killer and the motive is quite tangled up in some very wild relationships. There is a lot going on but it is a fun read and Bun is a great character. Five purrs and two paws up.
This is the 2nd installment in the Jules and Bun Mystery series. Juliet (Jules) Bridges runs a farm that rescues and rehabilitates rabbits. One of her pet rabbits Bun can also telepathically talk to her and helped her solve a murder previously. This time she takes Bun with her as part of a petting farm for a birthday party. At the end of the party Jules finds one of the guests (Evelyn Montgomery) dead in the bushes with a knife in her chest. Jules did not really know the woman but did know she had a heated argument with another guest and not many people seemed to like her at the party. She also was going to be a judge at an upcoming rabbit show. Jules gets drafted at the last minute to judge and the sheriff wants her to act undercover to find some facts at the show. Never really knew there were rabbit competitions but the mystery was good and I like Jules and Bun. This is an interesting premise with an unlikely pet but it works and the story is a good read.
Bun and Jules are back and this time the untimely death of everyone's NOT favorite person, Evelyn; takes place right next to a birthday party gig. No one saw anything, except that Jules noticed Evelyn and party hostess Carina having a very heated conversation before the start of the party. The only redeeming trait that Evelyn possessed was her love of rabbits and her excellent organization of the rabbit show taking place at the Windermere Exhibition Hall. As luck would have it, Jules is asked to be a judge. This gives her and Bun the opportunity to help a frazzled Carina as well as be the eyes and ears for Sheriff Jack Carver (at his request). You don't need to have read the previous book to be caught up with the "superpowered" Bun and Fur Bridge Farm owner Juliette Bridge. The story offers several viable suspects and I didn't even realize who the true villain was until the big reveal. The story moves along at a good pace, of course, part of that is due to Bun's desire to hop to it! I would like to see a romantic element added to the story just because I am a die-hard romantic cozy reader and figure that for all the times Officer Andy is looking out for Jules, there should be a little spark there, just maybe. A very good story that I hope, will keep multiplying just like rabbits!
This was a fun read and I learned a lot about rabbits. I haven't read the first book yet but will now. I love that Bun is not a telepathic cat or dog, and you can tell his relationship with Jules is still evolving but very close. The story was well paced with lots of twists and kept my interest all the way through. The characters were interesting as was the Fur Bridge Farm's setup. Jules is tenacious and, once given the green light to investigate, can't just let it go when told to stop. She gets in some sticky situations but with Bun's (and the sheriff's) help makes it through unscathed. I'm not a big fan of romance in cozies so I was happy that there's no romantic interest although I could see how one might develop with Adam.
I received an advance copy via NetGalley and this is my honest review.
Jules and Bun of Fur Bridge Farm bunny rescue are part of a birthday party celebration when a woman is discovered dead. The host of the party asks Jules to help figure out the killer to keep the police from blaming her. Evelyn Montgomery was a mean, hateful woman that enjoyed profiting off of other people. Jules has a hard time finding anyone that has anything good to say about the woman. Jules is asked to replace Evelyn as a judge at a rabbit show, Sheriff Carver wants her to keep her eyes and ears open while she is there to give him any new information that might help with the case. Jules and Bun find themselves in danger in their quest to find a killer. I am enjoying this unique series. Jules and Bun have an unusual relationship. Bun speaks to Jules through telepathy. He is opinionated and full of ideas. Together they make a great team of sleuths.
I sometimes just grab a paperback mystery from the rack at the library to round out my reading. I thought the cover looked a bit juvenile, but I was always told 'don't judge a book by it's cover'. Well, I should have judged. When I started reading, I realized this featured a telepathic bunny. The bunny was not named Harvey.
We followed a mildly interesting plot, but Jules, the main character, kept doing the dumbest things - ditching the police officer assigned to protect her, meeting the kidnappers of her telepathic bunny without a good plan, volunteering to go to jail as a fake arrest to get the even dumber criminals to spill their plans, and hiding in the house of the victim when the home had been broken into multiple times.
This really would have been a better read for a teen.
