Reg Quist’s pioneer heritage includes sod shacks, prairie fires, home births, and children’s graves under the prairie sod, all working together in the lives of people creating their own space in a new land.
Out of that early generation came farmers, ranchers, business men and women, builders, military graves in faraway lands, Sunday Schools that grew to become churches, plus story tellers, musicians, and much more.
Hard work and self-reliance were the hallmark of those previous great generations, attributes that were absorbed by the following generation.
Quist’s career choice took him into the construction world.  From heavy industrial work, to construction camps in the remote northern bush, the author emulated his grandfathers, who were both builders, as well as pioneer farmers and ranchers.
It is with deep thankfulness that Quist says, “I am a part of the first generation to truly enjoy the benefits of the labors of the pioneers. My parents and their parents worked incredibly hard, and it is well for us to remember”.
Quist’s heart was never far from the land. The family photo albums testify to how often he found himself sitting on a horse, both as a child and into later life, when he and his wife owned their own small farm, complete with kids and horses.
Respect for the pioneers, working alongside skilled, tough workmen, and learning from them, marrying his high school sweetheart and welcoming children into the world, purchasing land for the family to grow on, and riding horses with the kids, all melded together to influence Quist’s life and writing. Over, and under, and wrapped around his life is Quist’s Christian heritage. This too, shows itself in his writing.
Quist’s writing career was late in pushing itself forward, remaining a hobby while family and career took precedence. Only in early retirement, was there time for more serious writing.
Quist’s writing interests lie in many genres including children’s work, short lifestyle stories, cowboy poetry, western novels, plus Christian articles and novels.
Woven through every story is the thought that, even though he was not there himself in that pioneer time, he knew some that were. They are remembered with great respect.

Mac and his brothers does an excellent job in bringing peace and tranquility to their area, but only after an exciting rendition of truly western justice that seems to last forever. If you love one exciting gunfight after the other, then purchase this outstanding compassionate masterpiece and be prepared to hang with Mac and crew, as you cannot put it down once you begin!

Never a problem awarding five stars to this outstanding western masterpiece of heartwarming experiences that never slows down once Mac and his entourage of dedicated Deputy U. S. Marshals begin their pursuit of the bad guys. Too, there are many outstanding heartwarming accomplishments throughout the entire story, and the gunplay is overwhelmingly impressive.
The author definitely did his homework before striking the first key, the storylines definitely maintains a collision course with the ad guys from beginning to end. Too, his character selections were certainly befitting of their assigned roles. Never a dull moment throughout this compelling masterpiece, and the heartwarming Christian Faith aspects certainly were perfectly descriptive of Mac and his brothers, as they performed their assigned tasks with realistic professionalism.
Without hesitation, I have no problem recommending this compassionately outstanding masterpiece of old American western folklore to all readers, but especially to all of you "died in the wool" lovers of outstanding western accomplishments, that entails one exciting adventure after the other! Try it!! You'll love it.😁

This series is better enjoyed, if read from the beginning as you get to know the characters very well. It is still really good as a stand-alone, though. Mac has his ranch to run and the land has gotten crowded over the last 15 years or so. A deputy marshal comes looking for his help. A small rnach has been burned to the ground, the parents and young child, murdered. Mac is deputized to help with the investigation. He doesn't know much about being a lawman, but his two brothers do, so he enlists their help. What they discovered, was that the father actually survived, extremely burned and shot up. He needs to heal and come up with a plan. He did manage to kill two of the murderers and wound the leader, who is a near by ranch owner. The sheriff isn't any help because he is friends with the crooked rancher. This was a very interesting read from start to finish.

Best book in the series

All of the books in this series have been great. Mac's Law is full of excitement. This book continues where the last one left off. Mac and his brothers were asked to be temporary federal marshals to help solve the murders and burning of Casey and his family, in book two. Mac also decided to try to put a stop to the cattle rustling, that had been going on. This book has cattle rustling, jail breaks, crooked deputies and marshals, along with a trial that also has an escape attempt. Mac's Law will keep you guessing right up to the end. It also has a wedding thrown in the mix. No cliff hangers but it does leave the potential for another book in the series, which I really hope there is one planned.

An RQ. Western Adventure with Murder (MWB. - 3)

RQ. has. penned the third western novel! In the "Mac" McTavish series. This novel begins with the burning of a ranch, the destruction of the ranch and the deaths associated with the burning. The storyline takes two directions, but they both center on the subjects. A brother and sister combination that us highly dangerous to many. One is a Black Widow and the other a Pit Viper. Thus is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Excellent story. Excellent writing

Author Reg Quist is someone who knows how to weave a story. They ring true. The only thing I wish was better is the proofreading. A couple of times, the story skipped ending one sentence and joining it to another. But, the story is strong enough, I figured things out. Thanks Mr. Quist for this series and others I've read. I never want them to end. Good reading everyone.

I had to read the previous 2 books first. Reg did a nice job developing the characters. I love that his characters aren't perfect but saved...this was clear in the incidents where difficult choices had to be made. I love Mac and Margo and his extended family and friends. I hope there are more sequels.

Great reading

I have just finished reading the three Macs Way books .They were all well written, the characters clearly defined and remained so throughout. Action, humor and devotion made these books really enjoyable, plus the ending left room for another. I am looking forward to reading more of Reg Quiet works.

Excellent

Good story! Bad guys and bad women, what a combination. If I wanted a job where I could get rich quick and easy, I'd gone into politics as a Democrat. Alas, I have too much self respect to do such a thing.

Tricky book—another sequel?

An exciting book with a bit of surprise at the end. Seems like another book should be written for complete justice.

Welcome to a good old-fashioned western of life long ago. This is Book Three of the series and concludes with the lives of all three brothers. Mac is busy with his ranch the Bar-M along with his wife and children. Mac had a big request from the Deputy Federal Marshall and that was to solve the mysterious fire on a local ranch. Being deputized and asking his two brothers to assist, they were off to bring justice to criminals, rustlers and anyone who broke the law of the land. This book is exciting and one you want to read if you love this genre’. A lot happens between the beginning and The End.
Both Mr. And Mrs. In this household enjoyed this book.

A Higher Benchmark for Western Writers!
There are and have been some great western writers but few ever create such exciting, full-body tales with such realistic characters, scenes and schemes. It is well worth reading!
