A single mom, she struggles to button her shirt the right way, let alone manage the lives of her two kids in addition to holding down two jobs. Thank goodness she’s got her hot best friend, Rob, to help out.
If life weren’t hard enough, she absolutely hates the guy who runs her kids’ after-care program. Tate McCullough is a wall of a man, militant and inflexible. She hates him with the heat of a thousand suns.
Until…she doesn’t. Until the night he sees her at her second job as a bartender, tells her his sad backstory and lays a kiss on her that makes her toes curl into her feet. And how does she react to kissing her arch nemesis? Well, she heads home to sleep with her best friend, like any rational person would do.
Hope’s life begins to unravel and she realizes she needs to cure old wounds before she can fully move forward.
Hating Tate is a standalone romance featuring a haggard but sexy young mom, two hot guys, and some very hot sex. For mature audiences only.
Actually - 3.5 stars. Some day maybe Goodreads will get it together and give us those half stars we so desperately want!! Anyway...this was a quick and enjoyable read. Hope truly is a hot mess, but a very lovable and relatable hot mess. She is a struggling single mom, who is constantly going in several different directions, trying to hold it all together. And she does, but only with the help of her best friend, Rob, who has been in love with her for years. Hope never wanted to take things farther for fear of losing the support and love of her best friend, which she desperately counts on. Enter Tate, the rather militant and judgmental man who runs the after-school program her kids are in. He notices Hope over time, and has no trouble sharing with her what he thinks of she needs to do for her kids. He also can't help his blooming attraction to Hope, but Hope absolutely despises Tate. One evening, he acts on the attraction he feels, and sets in action a course of events that has some consequences for Hope, Tate and Rob. Is Tate the one for Hope? Is Rob? Maybe it's neither of them. You'll just have to read to find out!
I received an ARC copy of this book. I'll be honest, I enjoyed this book more then I thought I would. I was a little leery of the two different guys story line, but the author made it work. I feel like each guy had a role and a purpose in the story line and the author also didn't make Hope feel "slutty" (not that there is anything wrong with slutty ;) lol)
Side note: my ARC copy did not have a cover and looking at the cover on Goodreads, I might not have picked out this book to read.
***Honest Review for ARC***Hope is a single mom of 2, works 2 jobs, and has no extra cash. Her life is a race from the time she wakes up in the morning until she crashes at night. Tate runs her kids after school program and Rob is her best friend who has lived her for years. Both men want their chance with her and she is confused. Overall I enjoyed the book. The ending was a little too perfect, but that is why I like to read these kinds of books. I would recommend this book to others. However, my ARC was electronic and I didn’t have a cover. If I had seen this cover, I probably wouldn’t have read it.
Grab some popcorn and a cold drink because you will need both to get through this drama and steamy sex filled book! From the opening pages, the reader is immediately drawn to hot mess, single mom of two Hope. As the book gets going, the reader expects the plot to head off in a predictable, but still interesting direction. Fortunately, this book does not take the predicable path but rather heads off on a journey of self-discovery for Hope that was insightful, delightful, and brought real depth of character to the story, elevating it above standard romance fare.
This is a story about a single mom who struggles to make ends meet while working two jobs and raising two kids. She’s been burned by her cheating ex husband, who left her with no support. I enjoyed the humor and reality of the story, the grit of the heroine, and the presence of two men who help her find herself again.
This was an enjoyable read. I felt the characters were well developed. The recovery from divorce could have been expanded on but would have made it a longer book.
