To be honest, most of these recipes were unattainably complicated and intricate. Half of the ingredients I wouldn’t even know where to buy. I marked a few down to test, but I probably won’t even end up keeping this book.

Reread 2023 and I’m actually up for the challenge of trying some of these next year.

I'm not a vegetarian, however I love how interesting vegetarian cooking can be. I've spent most of my life living in a big city and I regret not having grown up learning more about where food comes from. Us, city dwellers are so spoilt, taking natural food for granted, not knowing how to grow vegetables.

Well, that's where Rose Elliot comes in. She is a real Vegetarian Supercook and has published numerous books on vegetarian cooking. This book is divided into eight themes that include Dinner Party Solutions, Classics with a Twist, Al Fresco (vegetarian BBQ), vegetarian World food, etc. The recipes are clear and easy to follow. I've tried out five recipes and am very satisfied. Everybody should consider to eat more vegetables and support your local farmers. You don't have to become a full-time vegetarian. Part-time vegetarian is already good enough. The only criticism I have is that I wish the pictures were all based on the recipes she presents, but maybe they didn't have enough photographs. All in all, a fine work.

If you're a parent, do encourage your kids to cook with you - it's such a valuable life skill. One of my daughters recently told me about a colleague who was finding it difficult to follow a vegetarian diet. 'She doesn't know how to cook so she can't just rustle something up in the kitchen. If she can't find what she's looking for in the "ready meals" section, she's stuck.' This was said without criticism, as though it was quite an unremarkable situation. Well, I find it sad when I think of the amount of pleasure, nutrition, creativity and money that are lost as a result of not being able to cook. - Rose Elliot

a bit odd... none of the recipes that I've tried tasted quite right. But then again, it could be the difference in American taste buds and the British taste buds. We all have different tastes.

Rose Elliot is my absolute favourite vegetarian recipe provider. When I decided to give up meat around 17 years ago I happened to buy one of her books and i have never looked back. The book has good basic info on how to cook pulses etc and heaps of imaginative, interesting recipes - you will never need to look back at the butchers shop ever again! Liberated and more than happy about it!

Another fabulous cookbook I may be buying. Fun recipes, easy to make, and popular with the hubby and kids. Rose Elliot is a genius.

I like how she has recipes that are simple and delicious, and doesn't use meat substitutes like tofu or veggie burgers.

I really like the recipes, most of them are very tasty and varied. The recipes are listed per topic, it can be confusing when looking for a specific recipe.
