Second chances are a gift. I know that now. Very few get them. Fewer cherish them for the treasure they are. I won’t be one of the few. The second the council decided to give me a do-over, I promised them and myself I’d make it count. There is someone I’m after. I won’t stop until he’s mine.
My name is Allie Cole. Daughter to the founder of one of the biggest publishing companies in the entire country, and many other business endeavors, all homebased here in New York City, though my parents died some time ago in a horrific accident, leaving me as the sole heiress to everything they owned. I’ve never worked a day in my life. My dad had people for that sort of thing, like the board of his company. My biggest responsibility is signing my name to legal documents that require it—all explained to me in great detail before I put pen to paper by my family’s attorney. The media likes to refer to me as royalty of the Upper East Side. Paparazzi are always hiding out for a moment to snap the latest photo to bring them a buck. It’s not that hard, given my spare time is spent with sex, drugs, and reckless behavior due to my depressed state of mine.
This is my life. If I keep repeating it to myself, maybe it’ll stick.
No. You know what, scratch that. This girl’s—I mean—My life is a mess. It’s time to change things. I need to grow up. Be a part of this company. Make it better. Make my dad proud. Bring something to the table. I want to be involved in the process, not some princess in a penthouse. We have published some of the greatest books of all time. I have ideas. Ideas that start with our current highest selling author—and one I’ve had my sights on for quite a while—Jameson Carter.
Problem is, he thinks I’m nothing more than a spoiled goddess that has no real problems, which means I can’t get him to look deeper to the real me. How do I make him fall in love with me when his eyes are fixated on someone from his past? It’s said that a soul to soul connection is the most powerful thing there is. I guess we will find out.
Note: Please read book 8, Fate by Forgiveness, prior to this title.
I found books when I was going through a hard time in life. They became my means of escape when things got bad. I realized quickly how much I loved to take a backseat to someone else's life and watch the journey unfold. That began my journey with books in November of 2012. I constantly had a book open on my Kindle app. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself as a writer, because I never thought I was creative enough. I'm living proof that things will fall into place when they're meant to be. People will make their way into our lives when we don't expect it, setting the path for what we are meant to do. Never give up on people. Never stop taking a chance on others. Someone took a chance on trusting me with her work when she didn't know me from a stranger on the street and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime as our relationship progressed, which led me to editing and writing as well. This is my dream I never knew I had. As soon as I sat down and gave writing a shot, it was like the floodgates opened. Now, I am lost in a world of fiction in my head, new characters constantly screaming for their stories to be told. Continue to dream and to go for them. No one ever found happiness by sitting on the sidelines. Sometimes we have to take risks and put ourselves out there. Thank you for all of your support, and may there be many books to come. XOXO- C
