Dunlin Shores #4

A Special Kind of Love

Rate this book
Great for fans of Susan Mallery, Bella Andre, and Marie Force. A Special Kind of Love is a small town, feel-good romance, book #4 in a four-book series.
As soon as he builds what he hopes is an award-winning house, Cory Adams will be on his way. He certainly isn’t in the sleepy town, Dunlin Woods, Oregon, to put down roots. That’s fine with busy veterinarian Mia Barker. She doesn’t want or need her noisy new neighbor complicating her life. But suddenly Cory is the least of her problems—she’s just inherited a newborn baby.

Mia has no idea how to care for an infant. Besides, she’s not mother material—and has a dark secret to prove it. Cory’s own past keeps him from getting close to anyone, even someone as warm and beautiful as Mia. But his neighbor needs help, and soon she’s getting far too close for comfort…

I'm a bit of a voyeur. I love to stick my nose into total strangers' business and observe how they deal with life's hurdles and whatever obstacles fate throws at them. I can't think of anything more challenging or interesting than delving into a character's psyche to discover what makes her/him tick. The surprises and insights are amazing.

The people who interest me most are the ones I know will triumph despite life’s problems and challenges. For me, writing their stories is both rewarding and a whole lot of fun.

Publication didn't come easy for me--just ask my family! That took seven-plus years, during which I worked full-time as a banker, complete with an MBA in finance and human resources management. I wrote evenings and weekends, spending countless hours hunched in front of the computer while I painstakingly honed my craft, and collected folders of rejections. In 1999 my efforts at last paid off. That summer, I won the Golden Heart for best long contemporary romance. Sadly it is now defunct. Six months later, just four days before Christmas, I sold my first book to Silhouette Special Edition, also now gone. That book, STRANGER IN A SMALL TOWN, was a 2000 Romantic Times nominee (another loss) for best first long series novel.

Since then I have sold multiple novels to publishers and tried my hand at indie publishing.

But things change, so check back often for updates.

Thanks for stopping by, and come back soon!

Two characters that have things in their pasts that make them a little broken and a bit wary, its a slightly rocky start with the noise and changes that Cory is making right next door to Mia. Some suspense and sparks kept me gripped with the intense emotional turmoil of these two and the events surrounding them. A great addition to the series and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Dunlin Falls books keep getting better and better! This is the 4th book in the series and all can be read as stand atones.

Mia Barker was first introduced to us in the last book and is the local VET in Dunlin. Mia likes her quite live with Ginger her three-legged mutt but unfortunately for her she now has the loudest worse neighbour in Cory Adams house builder with a secret!

However, in the blink of an eye Mia’s world is turned upside when she is given sole custody of Drew her cousin Rosanne’s three week old son when she dies suddenly.

Mia is thrown in at the deep end to become an eye instant mum which is not easy but with the unexpected help of Cory life becomes that little easier.

This is my favourite book in the series well written and pulls on your heart strings in just the right places.

Well done Ann!

I don't think I'll ever get tired of the Dunlin Shore books! A Special Kind of Love is no different!

Mia Baker is the local vet and we met her in the previous book. She loves her quiet live with her dog. That is until she gets the surprise of a lifetime when she finds out she will now have sole custody of her cousin's son Drew. Talk about a curveball! Then let's add in her new neighbor Cory Adams.

It's hard enough to become a mom, but being a single mother of an infant that you didn't know is coming! Mia had her hands full. Add that super hot neighbor to the mix and things get interesting.

The Dublin Shore books are always so well written, and keep my interest. They are not the usually books I read but I keep coming back for more. If seems like with each one I finish it becomes my new favorite and A Special Kind of Love is no different! I can't wait for the next book1

Cory is building a special house trying to win an award. His neighbor isn't happy with him due to the noise of the construction. He keeps busy avoiding her. With the demons that haunt him there are only ugly scars that keeps him away from women.

Mia's friend has passed away and left her three weekbold son to her. She's terrified! The one secret she carries could destroy her. She thinks she isn't mother material.

It takes a special kind of love for two people who are scarred to help each other heal and move forward.

A sweet romance.

This story is one that helps you see you need to take chances to find your true love. It is about overcoming your past and putting yourself out there. This sweet romance started out as avoidance and overwhelming feelings and circumstances. It ended up being a story of second chances and sweet redemption. This author has kept my attention and I will continue to read her books anytime she releases them.

Read this book for a sweet, heart melting romance that will leave you happy and fulfilled.

Loved this twist on the single parent troupe! I am fairly new to Ann Roth, but I am officially obsessed! Cory and Mia's story was everything I wanted it to be and more! I hate spoilers, so I don't want to say anymore, but you should do yourself a favor and read this one!

I absolutely LOVED A Special Kind of Love so much! Usually when a MC is left a baby, it's the hero who has no idea how to deal with an infant, but Ann Roth flipped the script, and Mia Barker, the town vet, was left her cousin's 3 week old son unexpectedly. And Mia is clueless, which makes this story very original because of the things that I've already stated. Not to mention, she's carrying a dark secret that will have her failing. Plus, even before the life altering surprise of baby Drew, she had a new loud neighbor named Cory, who has his own set of demons, which keeps him avoiding her. Yet, it was amazing how the new baby brought them to a cease fire, when he started helping her out. This is when they found that they had some chemistry, but still there are secret demons that both are holding. So, you know, secrets don't make friends. Will they get past those secret demons to have a chance at something beautiful? To find out, you know what to do! Get to one clicking! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Another brilliant addition to this series. I love it when characters that we met in previous books get their own story.

I loved Mia from the previous book but I fell in love with her over again.

Ann Roth does it again with another fantastic addition to the Dunlin Shores series
