It's kind of hard to save other people from themselves...Arc and Ariane find the first slave elf woman that was happily married with the son of her captor. They find a ship that was abducting and enslaving people from a neighboring territory. The thing is, with a world that has no legal system, no judicial branch, the ruling monach, emperor, or town noble is the "law" (what they say goes). The problem is that monarchs, emperors and nobles tend to be fickle, subjective and look out for their own benefit, before they will seek to be fair to others...this is why most of Earth is a Republic (free from tyrants, kings or dictators) (except for Communist China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, etc. etc. etc.) (that live under totalitarian dictatorships)...
This turns out to be a big world. The place that the main characters are usually looking for doesn't even show up on the map and almost no one in this other world knows or travels the world to guide the main characters to the places they are looking for.
Although Arc is Over-Powered, he is not omniscient, nor does he have 100% capacity over his abilities or skills. Ariane is wise and has high martial arts prowess, but it is hard for her to accomplish her mandate because one person does not a revolutionary change make...
The illustrations are above average, there are now character summaries of the main characters, the map is more detailed (the author should share it with his main characters), the political conflicts and intrigues are growing, and freeing the enslaved humans, beast-folk, spirit-folk (although a priority) is becoming harder to accomplish...
Hopefully Arc will find a way to remove his "skeleton knight curse", and main characters will change this corrupt and depraved world for the better. We still do not know if Arc is having a "dream sequence" or the reasons behind his isekai-ed to this other world"...

Arc and Ariane continue with their quest to free the captured elves. In the background bigger things are afoot, things that go farther than just a potential civil war. The style of the story is much like in the previous parts and I liked it even some of the short changes in point of view. For me they add depth to the world. I also like it despite some of the Japanese LN clichés (eg instantly drunk after one glass of alcohol). Some of the bigger event parts were a bit confusing, too many names. Still, an entertaining addition to the series and looking forward to the next part.

Not sure if I will continue this series, but the world is fascinating. My issues are that the main characters are kinda boring. Arc is basically a generic nice guy who is a sucker for helping people, particularly women. The chemistry between him and Ariane is pretty terrible. It sums down to: Can you do this? Okay. Overall, a decent series. I highly recommend if you don't mind some high fantasy and isekai.

I really enjoy the adventure traveling part of it, but I hate the Elf (Adriane) personality. I wish the story were only Ponta and Arc without the stupid Elf. She is so immature and stuck-up, I can't seem to care for her character. I don't enjoy all the politics/noble stuff either, but it has been balanced so far, so I will continue the series. Saving grace, kaiju fight!!!!!! On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

Am liking this series
I debated getting into this series due to the pricing and them only being light novels. That being said have enjoyed them, I think this book is the best so far as it showed some different magic and stayed with the MC more than the last book. I really want to see more of the summoning magic.

Wonderful
This is truly a 5star book and series it caught my attention right off the bat and has kept me hooked. If you are interested in a fantasy story with no sex, just a lot of action and endearing friendship this is definitely the series for you. I have alt and will continue to pre-order the next in line...

Okay, lets get right into it. Some action. Some travel. But maybe a bit too much travel? All of these countries that I have no context for. The main character's development is going at a snail's pace. The other characters all have their stuff together but they don't really have much of a focus.
It is a good time killer but I can' t say it is much more than that.

This one's story was a bit more over the place, and felt more like short episodes than a full volume, but it's still a good entry in this series.

The through-narrative of this novel series — of Arc and Ariane journeying to various cities and towns to free enslaved elven or beast people — ensures SKELETON KNIGHT. . .#3 stays on track. Arc may have a terrible sense of direction, Chiyome may introduce a side quest or two, and a local lord may slake his bloodthirsty disposition with a few sordid games . . . but once Arc and his crew clear each and every hurdle, the novel series somehow keeps to its promise of working toward a more peaceful coexistence between humanity and the other peoples of the continent.
SKELETON KNIGHT. . .#3 pushes Arc and Ariane in a few curious directions, the most strident of which is toward examples where humans and elves have managed to cohabitate without the threat of violence or suspicion. Compared to previous volumes, in which the two warriors fought off slave traders and assassinated corrupt nobles, the current book introduces the flipside of the coin. They encounter a monster researcher out in the boonies who is valued for his intellect, while in a larger and more prosperous region, a man usurps the throne and decides to wed the elven woman his predecessor once purchased as property.
Ariane is conflicted. Humans are quite the disgusting creatures. But they're not all so bad, apparently. Arc is adapting well enough. He may be oblivious as to how he's shaping the continent's politics (having saved Princess Yuriarna's life in the previous volume), but his sincere interest in bringing peace to those who deserve it rings true whether he's fighting off monsters in the plains or combatting corrupt nobles in port cities.
SKELETON KNIGHT. . .#3 doesn't have a lot of big reveals and sticks to the consequential (linear) storytelling for which it is known. Ariane grows more affectionate for the skeleton knight. Arc continues to flub things and still get away with it. And Chiyome's role matures, even if the little ninja comes off as more convenient than not.
The novel series retains a few problems from before. Most pressingly is scale. It's impossible to accurately discern how large some of the creatures/monsters in the book are, because their sizes shift and change from the prose to the illustrations to the prose (again). Further, the maps in the beginning of each book are becoming increasingly useless, since so few of the locations in the book are actually located on the damn map.
Still, it's a good book and an entertaining narrative. The novel's sly, gleefully dull-witted humor ensures even the slightest hang-ups entertain or have purpose. One wonders what direction the series will take once the team's quest to save enslaved elven women reaches its conclusion.

Skeleton Knight remains to be quite a fun read, fuelled by the charming interactions of its protagonists. In this volume, their quest to save Ariane's enslaved compatriots takes some interesting turns as they encounter some unexpected developments that raises new possibilities for the future.
While the first two volumes were mostly setting up the dominant humans and the seclusive elves as opposing sides, this volume actually showcases some of them living together and even marrying which gradually results in Ariane developing a less stricter view of things.
This really is the main strength of the series so far, with some really strong character development going on, even as the author doesn't let down on the action-packed nature of this series. It's certainly a rarity of isekai-type stories that don't just keep throwing in new characters and focuses on developing the core group that's introduced. Skeleton Knight is quite competent in this aspect and I really appreciate it for that.
The world-building is also another expertly done aspect of it, and this volume introduces more of the intrigue and politicking behind two of the largest human empires in the setting, with religious overtones thrown in as well. While it's still rather standard fare, the slow-drip way it's explained through context is much appreciated too.
Three volumes in and Skeleton Knight remains to be one of my favourite new isekai genre works.

If you're on volume 3 you already know to expect an OP cast of characters, or at least Arc, with some very talented other main characters. But it is a fun series. I enjoy the interactions between Arc and Arianne. I'm enjoying the story of bringing the elves and humans closer together as nations while having to cope with those who have made and are still making it difficult.
In short -- a fun romp in the world, will definitely grab the next one.
