He thinks he’s too old for her. She’s too shy to tell him he’s wrong.
Giles Mealing was looking forward to ending his service as the mayor of Creede, Colorado—except the only other person on the ballot is a known thug. Having a suspected criminal as the mayor would be like holding a match to a town that’s already a powder keg. Giles reluctantly takes back up the campaign, assisted by his secretary. Continuing his association with the lovely Diane would definitely be the only bright spot to winning the election.
Diane Turley loves working in the mayor’s office and more specifically, with the mayor. Although she detects no romantic feelings from him, she longs for them. As a result, she hides her own attraction deep inside. She can’t imagine working for anyone else. So for completely selfish reasons, she organizes efforts toward his re-election, drawing unwanted attention from dangerous men seeking power.
It takes a desperate enemy to wake them up to what they could have together.
MATCH FOR THE MAYOR takes us back to Creede, Colorado for the romance between Giles and Diane, two secondary characters in a previous story. Both have an unspoken attraction to each other but for their various reasons haven’t moved on them – that’s about to change. Creede has grown so much since we first started this series, and Giles is ready to hang up his Mayor’s duties by not putting his name on the ballot for the upcoming election. He longs for a home, fields to plant, trees to grow and a certain younger lady by his side even if that last part is nothing but a dream he keeps to himself. Two things will change his mind about running for another term, one dangerous criminal who is running for Mayor to officially take over this town for his own goals, and the belief and support of one very special woman who believes he is the best man for the job. And with the help of an angel and the women of Creede things are about to change and get very interesting for all involved.
I loved Diane, she’s such a strong woman even if she doesn’t really see herself that way – yet. My heart broke for Giles as his mother and sister return home with devastating news. One peppermint loving angel who doesn’t say much but the words she uses are so very powerful will guide Diane along a path she never expected to take, one that she’s ready to embrace with Giles at her side.
I had such a good time back in Creede (and I really need to do some binge-reading to get caught up). Giles and Diane along with the familiar faces of Creede deliver, once again, a touching story full of love, faith, a touch of danger and happy endings that will make you smile. If you love Western Historical Romance then you should be reading the Cowboys and Angels series and MATCH FOR THE MAYOR is an excellent addition adding new book friends for us all.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

MY TAKE Another fun book. These are short and sweet, and we get updates periodically of other characters we've read about. Giles and Diane are so right for each other. There's a fun twist at the end that makes it so satisfying.
Life is too short to ignore your heart. Let love in.
Love knows no age barrier. Giles feels his 10 yrs is too old for the woman he has fallen for. When his mother is dying he is very sad. Creed is facing a new election for mayor but he is ready to start a different life. Then Ab Helm decides to run for mayor. Knowing that he can't let a crook become mayor he has no choice but to run. Diane is a woman that has a lot of strength and conviction. She helps Giles run for re-election. She wants to continue helping him as mayor because she is secretly in love with him. Will they ever get together and be honest about their feelings or just keep hiding the love they have. Such a great story to take you through the book.
I was really enjoying this book. The sweet story of twin sisters working for the mayor of Creede, it is a cute set up. Diane had taken over for her sister, whom had chosen to become a nurse a get married. Diana had quite the crush on Mayor Mealing. Diana was also the opposite of her sister. She was quite and soft spoken. Which I can relate to. But all of a sudden she completely switched and is out on the campaign trail, giving speeches, rallying women and nominated to be the new mayor. I could never make that big of a transformation. I kind of lost my spark for the characters after that. That being said It is a sweet short story, with happily ever afters.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's a delightful & moving story. Diane, works for the Mayor of Creede. She has loved him from afar. Giles, is the Mayor. He's fallen in love with Diane, but is concerned because he is older. It's time for the mayoral election again. Giles, is ready for a change. That is till a town thug wants to take over the town. Diane, knows Giles, is best person for Creede. She'll do everything to help him. Will Diane & Giles, finally admit how they feel? Will Creede be safe from the town's ruffians? I loved everything about this Must Read Story!!
Come with Diane and Giles as they travel the road of life. Throughout the journey, discover or reclaim the importance of faith, family, friends, community, service to others, and love. Diane Turley, the quiet twin, finds a cause to back and the voice to speak up for that cause plus the love of a man selected for her by God! Of course she had help discovering these gifts of God with encouragement from her guardian angel, a teacher. After all we are never too old to learn something new.
I liked this book right from the start, when you get to " see" the Mayor's heart. The whole tension of the upcoming election with an unworthy opponent makes for an interesting read with a few twists thrown in for good measure. I especially liked the wisdom shared by the Mayor's mother, and the judge at Lucia's wedding. A lot of real gems in this story. Enjoyed every minute of it!
I always make room in my ‘to be read’ list to stop and read any new Cowboys and Angels release. This one kept me up reading until after midnight. I am older and always enjoy a love story between a couple with a larger than normal age difference. I always enjoy Jo Noel’s books so this is a triple winner for me.
I'm a previous book Mayor Giles Mealing was introduced as a man who was perhaps taking bribes, but he turned out to be a good guy in the end. It was nice to see him with his own happily ever after and to see shy Turley twin Diane come into her own as well.
This is the 40th story in the Cowboys and Angels series. We finally get the story of the mayor and of Diane who is Donella's twin sister. Both the mayor, Giles and Diane were secondary characters in Donella's book, Home for the Holidays. There is a nice side story about Giles' sister and mother who were mentioned in the previous story. This is a great series.
This book is filled with politics and villains and suspense... this is the first Mayoral election in Creede Colorado since women have won the right to vote. So we have campaigning for their choices, mud slinging by opponents.. it gets pretty exciting at times in this story. Good reading.. sometimes sounds like it could be almost current instead of 1890s
Cowboys and Angels may be my favorite series ever. I have read all the books, most more than once. Giles Mealing was the mayor that Creede needed and it definitely didn’t need Ab Helm in that position. Diane Turley wanted Giles to remain as her boss but really she wanted a more important position, to be his wife. I loved the twists and turns of this story.
It was a great story about love for your children, for a special someone, for your mother, a love for your community, and respect for women's rights. A great addition to the series.
Another great book in a great series. I'm really enjoying this series and all the characters in Creed and Bachelor. I loved Giles and Diane's story and look forward to more books in the series.
It was a perfect relationship, Giles and Diane, they were the best for each other, and may the best Mayor win. Thank you Jo Noelle, I really enjoyed the book.
I really enjoyed this book in the Cowboys and Angels series. Instantly likeable characters and the plot takes many emotional twists and turns. I recommend it.
Love this series! Giles and Diane are perfect for each other. She had the land that was his dream and he had the job that she didn't know was her calling.
A heart-tugging romance. The characters were easy to fall for which made for easy reading. There was suspense, ups and downs, and feel-good western love. Book gifted to me.
Giles- Mayor of Crede who doesn't really want to be mayor Diane- mayors secretary, also loves politics though she is really shy. I enjoyed reading this sweet story that is well written with lovable characters . Their story has a nice HEA.
When Mayor Mealing (against his better judgment)decides to run for reelection to keep the town thug from winning, he realizes he will miss seeing his secretary everyday. Because Diane believes in the current Mayor, and fears the same thing about not seeing him, she campaigns for him when his mother gets ill. Who wins the mayoral election at the end? Nice story.
