James Newell Osterberg, better known by his stage name Iggy Pop, is an American rock singer, songwriter, and occasional actor. Although he has had only limited commercial success, Iggy Pop is considered an innovator of punk and related styles. He is sometimes referred to by the nicknames "the Godfather of Punk" and "the Rock Iguana," and is widely acknowledged as one of the most dynamic stage performers of rock. Pop began calling himself Iggy after his first band in high school, The Iguanas. His direct influence extends to the present day: a Cadillac ad in rotation since February 2007 features his vocal performance on the song "Punkrocker", recorded in 2006 with the Swedish band Teddybears.

Iggy Pop was the lead singer of The Stooges, a late 1960s/early 1970s garage rock band who were influential in the development of the nascent heavy metal and punk rock genres. The Stooges became infamous for their live performances, during which it was not uncommon for Pop to consume narcotics, self-mutilate, verbally abuse the audience, expose himself and leap off the stage (thus being among the first to "stage dive"). Countless subsequent performers have imitated Pop's antics.

Pop has had varying degrees of success in the course of his subsequent solo career. His best-known solo songs include "Lust for Life", "I'm Bored", "Real Wild Child", the Top 40 hit "Candy" (with vocalist Kate Pierson of The B-52's) and "The Passenger". A film about Iggy Pop's life and career titled The Passenger is currently in development.

Excellent graphics and layout of Pop’s lyrics— Laid out like poetry, Iggy’s streamlined genius shines through. Now I wanna pay deeper attention to some of his albums—such as Zombie Birdhouse for example.

Beautiful book and a must for fans. Great to have all his lyrics in one place and there are some rare photographs I’ve never seen before. And I already have like 6 or 7 Iggy related photo books.

There's a majesty to Iggy - to him just being here, to him carrying on. Some of his lyrics don't work at all on the page, others do. But this is a lovely book filled with great photos and quotes from friends and fans as well as great cryptic entries from Mr. Pop. For fans this is a treasure.

I have had a copy of this book on my desk for two weeks. I've taken to picking it up, absorbing lyrics and images of the great old Iggy Pop. I've read through it at least twice, which seems strange, because I've listened to this body of work at least 1,000 times and it's never gotten old. Never once.

I believe that Iggy Pop is one of the great artists of the punk era. His work is raw and honest. Looking at the man at this point, he is a work of art himself, his body, his look, his intensity.

He has an edge that no one else does and it's extraordinary to look at in reflection. There will never be anyone else like him. Ever. Never.

Josh Homme once called Iggy Pop "the last of the one-and-onlys" and a truer statement could not be made about Pop's legacy. 'Til Wrong Feels Right is a stirring collection of lyrics and photographs that when laid out chronologically, decade by decade, paints an eclectic portrait of an artist aging like fine wine. The artistic pursuits of the punk poet are documented here, in his own words, making this collection a must read for any fan of Pop.

‘I'm a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm
I'm a runaway son of the nuclear A-bomb
I am a world's forgotten boy
The one who searches and destroys’

Every day I proudly look down at The Stooges tattoo on my arm and think to myself that the universe is better for Iggy Pop’s presence within it. For me, one of the greatest humans to have ever drawn breath.

Not hard to imagine I may have loved a beautifully laid out book, featuring the words of one Mr James Newell Osterberg Jr.

A coffee table book, yes but nicely produced. Not as exciting as Total Chaos but worth the time to peruse. Best enjoyed while listening to the specific songs as one reads the lyrics.

Many call him Godfather of Punk and no one deserves the title more.

It was his team work with Bowie that got me into his music. Similar vocals and bare, biting writing style, many of his lyrics and hooks get me every time.

His lyrics are listed throughout and when you see them in black and white you feel how and why they have resonated for so long. His more recent "Gardenia" does that for me, as does the B side like gem "Shades".

Few artists still possess a bit of mystery, a bit of the old world, a grit. Find it here in the chest baring, drug addled, desperate, angry, dirty music.

Highly recommended.

(The first lines of the opening song on the Raw Power album)
That is the poetry we need.
Iggy is God.

Also: great photos and typography.
