Jade Storm Tracker #2

The Tracker Hive Academy: Year Two

Rate this book
The presence of approaching death always leaves you in a contemplating space. Reliving those exact moments pushes me to find the very culprit who changed my life. It also makes sitting in a classroom a pain in the ass.

Having survived my first year at Tracker Hive Academy, I'm left with wondering what's next for me, the eight elements, Junior Tracker with no professional filter. We have to face the culprit who is clearly out to get me, but there has to be more to this, especially with certain allies involved.

Things only get complicated when my sexy Troubled Four start having imbalance problems, making it difficult for the rest of the world to know who is who - except me, of course. My Shadow only wants to add to the chaos by attacking the very students we’re attempting to protect.

My life is definitely a shit storm, and when Alaric himself goes missing during an assignment, all bets are off.

I am a Queen in my element and won't be told how to get what belongs to me. With Zeke, Zion, Zackery, and Zeus on my side, there's nothing I need to fear - and with Calvin as our joker card.

We're a dangerous threat together, and this Hive goes by one thing: Breaking all the rules.

Game On.

Where is the actual story? None of what is mentioned in the blurb actually happened. There was no action until the last sentence and then the book ended on a cliffhanger. I feel as though 3/4 of the book is missing...
What there is of the story is riddled with typos and I’m so confused by this!

Needs time with an editor and a spellcheck

The storyline of book one pulled me in so I was super excited for book 2, especially since I only had a few days to wait after the first book. I think she should have waited longer to release this in order to do some serious editing and proofreading.

There are numerous times when words are together without a space between. Words with letters out of order (adn? Really? My phone auto corrects that one) . Sentences where words aren't there. I've been known to overlook proofreading errors and still love a story but...

Almost the entire book (the first 79%) consists of the characters talking about about the bad bad guy we met at the end of book 1 in the immediate aftermath of the end of that book. The conversation was cute and all, but then it abruptly fast forwards 6 months for one chapter before the cliffhanger ending. Then it's all promos for other books.

I am a fan of the concept of this world, but there was just not enough in this to be a standalone book. It Either should have been part of book 1 or fleshed out further.

Nothing happened

Nothing happened in this book. No character development no plot development no additional information at all. Basically all it said was Jade did nothing but recover the boys did nothing but snipe at each other and the other characters did nothing but stand around and say they know nothing. This book was a complete waste of time both in terms of reading it and the writer's time in writing it. Also it was annoying the way the conversations went with the boys. Chapters were wasted as the exact conversation was repeated over and over again just for a different perspective. I mean the exact words over and over. It feels like the writer has run out of steam and has no idea of where the story is going, maybe it's writters block. I hope she gets out of her funk soon otherwise it's not worth continuing.

Shadow Jade is Awesome!!

We pick up with Jade recovering from the events of book one. While she is healing we get to learn all sorts of secrets with her guys which make the story open for anything really. She starts to be better just in time for the semester to start. Day one starts with a bang I must say but after some trial and error that manage a short time of almost normalcy. We even get a Christmas that was fantastic! Leads to an explosive finale that makes we want the next book now. A fantastic addition to Jade's story and I am still in love with Shadow Jade!! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

There was no plot. Almost 80% of the book was a conversation that happened in the hospital. Why spend so much time building a world in book one and then turn away all your readers in book two? Unbelievably disappointing.

I was truly excited for this book, but I honestly found it very “Blah”.
57% in, nothing had happened.
77% in, still nothing.
I just got so bored.

Really short read

I enjoyed book one so much but book 2 was really short and felt more like a novella. It was suppose to be year 2 but most of the book was still about the end of first year with the last chapter jumping forward 6 months. It was very rushed and pretty confusing. I did find a good portion of this book to be entertaining but I don't think it did much to progress the story. I will check out book 3 and hope it's a little better.

Does not match the blurb!

I loved the start of this series and its fantastic characters but this book didn't do it for me. First it nowhere near matched the blurb. Next nothing happened in this book except the same conversation going round and round until the last page. It was very short and could've been edited better. Hopefully the next book is up to par.

No story

Absolutely loved the first book but this one had no involvement, storyline and no development of characters. Calvin is still a mystery, the boys just talk in the back ground and moan about calvin and jade is mostly sleeping recovering from the end of book 1....

Jade is back with Zachary, Zeke, Zion and Zeus. Oh and we can't forget shadow jade, kill kill kill, probably my favorite of the bunch. I know this book is short but it is needed to understand more about the characters. And that cliffhanger. I think Avery's nickname should be cliffhanger queen.

The Tracker Hive Academy: Semester Two is the continuation of Avery Song’s Tracker Academy series that tells Jade Storm’s story. The author has taken the time to re-write the original story and has given readers more of what we have come to expect and hope for with her stories. While I found the first write a decent enough story, I have to say that the rewrite itself is exceptional.
The Tracker Hive Academy: Semester Two picks up where Semester One ended and progresses from there, but this time we get a lot more. We get the character development that we were looking for, and we get the surprise twists that we were hoping for along with a couple steamy situations between Jade and a couple of her guys. In this book, as in the previous, we are given hints about a couple characters that there is more than meets the eye with them, and boy does the author go and blow things out of the water in that case. Get ready for some shocking revelations that will literally pull you all the way into the story and not let you up until the very end. I love the surprises the most, but I really appreciate the character development and backstories that we get with this book.
It’s not often to get more than one backstory at a time, but we get at least three with this book and not once does it bog the storyline down. I have to say that I really think that the author has found herself and her stride again because this book/storyline is practically flawless. I couldn’t put this book down and simply wanted to devour it.
My only complaint concerning the characters is their juvenile behavior at times. I get that technically they are still classifiable as teens, but I kind of want some of the immaturity to decrease. I will say that in the beginning the over-the- top jealousy was annoying, but as the story progresses I’m thankful that the author gradually tones it down, because it tends to grate on the nerves when the guys are wanting to be brats every five seconds simply because they feel more than a little insecure. I like that this story brings to light flaws in the characters and shows them a reflection of themselves to help them improve themselves because I was disappointed in how quickly Jade’s demeanor towards Calvin changes when he changes as well. For me, it felt like she was being shallow, but to an extent she acknowledges this which, while it doesn’t make it better or okay, shows growth.
If you read this book before the re-write and were disappointed then I highly encourage you to grab the new version and give it another shot. I’m willing to bet that you’ll be more than pleased with the additions that the author has put into this book and how far it has come compared to the original version. I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I’m nit-picking a bit in my review, but trust me…this book is really good and there was little I could complain about. Prepare for a crazy cliffhanger ending! I’m most emphatically looking forward to the next book coming next month.

Is this book a joke? Like, I'm being totally serious. This may be the WORST book I've ever read, and it's the second book in a series! What's up with that? Did the author completely forget how to write? Or did she have someone write the first one, and it was a success so she decided she'd try her own hand at it? Or maybe she was tortured into writing this, which is why it's absolute rubbish. Honestly, I want there to be a terrible and gruesome reason for the atrociousness of this book, because otherwise, it just means the author was rushed and lazy.

She took what was a promising series and absolutely annihilated it within a matter of chapters. I made it 80% of the way through this when I realized WE WERE STILL IN THE HOSPITAL. Seriously, not joking. The author wrote the majority of this terrible, awful book while Jade is recovering in the hospital after the events of the last book.

Not to mention, the humor (if you can call it that) is way, WAY, WAAAAAYYYYY overdone. Like the last season of Duck Dynasty, it was absolutely cringy to witness [read], and beyond scripted. It didn't feel natural at all - it's like forcing a fat kid to eat healthy: it just wasn't gonna happen. Not in this realm.

Basically, I'm wondering if I got the whole book? Or if what I read was the entire thing... Either way, I won't be reading the next one, or anything else from this author. She's slowly and surely making me question the ability of authors these days.

Disappointed

Ugh I had such high hopes for this! It was so disappointing. I felt a little conned to be honest. The first book was fantastic and written from Jade's POV. This one was a mix up of the main characters and I struggled to get through it. I am not a big fan of multiple POVs anyway but this felt like it was written by a completely different person than the 1st one. Also, big pet peeve- the book ended at around 88% with the rest of it being a "sneak peek" of another book. The last chapter wasn't really connected to the rest of the book and felt like an add on just so a cliffhanger could be attached. Don't think I will be continuing with this series which is a shame because I loved the 1st one.

Why was this labeled as a complete book when it is the first quarter of a book at best?! I had to go back and make sure I didn't miss anything but no, there wasn't any book. There were no plot points, no action except for the last page, and nothing but dialogue and exposition about Shadow Jade (who I love and was excited to read more about) and Calvin. I want to know more about the Tracker Hive world, but am so upset I'm not sure I want to keep reading if I'm just going to be shortchanged like this again. Really glad that I didn't pay to read this and read it on Kindle Unlimited. If I had paid money for this I would have been so pissed.

Unedited Novella for $5

Nothing happened. No world building, no relationship building, just tons of conversations.

This was definitely rushed and clearly wasn't edited. There are numerous times words are strung together and simple words are misspelled.

For something that is priced at $5, you would think the quality would be better. I am pretty disappointed.

It seems like the author only cares about pushing stories out fast instead of making sure it is quality work. Pretty sad cause a lot of the stories have interesting concepts.

Shame

Thus book had such promise. The first one was excellent and I was looking forward to this being released, however, what a disappointment. Bad spelling, bad editing and no real flow or storyline.
I liked the background and the questions over Calvin, however it felt like the jump forward 6 months then end the book was rushed, lazy and just for the sake of getting something out, probably for a deadline. Such a shame as this idea has a lot of potential.

Too short and not enough story

I'd been really looking forward to this book. I fell in love with the first book but this felt like a section of a book rather than a completed book. Not really year two when most of it takes place in a couple of days, then a random 6 month time jump. Hopefully the next one will provide more story.

This story was entertaining, not as much action (as in a little at the end) as the first in the series but still enjoyable. Jade and Shadow Jade are always good for a laugh and more background on Calvin was great, can't wait to find out what he's not saying. This book was fantastic and I can't wait to read the next book cause the cliffhanger was so unfair and waiting sucks.

Talk about unexpected

This book came at me from all sides! Happy, sad, love. All in one book. The ending though was heart wrenching. I want to meet more of the manifestations and see how they act. Also, Calvin!!!

Explosive, Emotive & Full Of New Information!!💥🔥💘😲
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
The Tracker Hive Academy: Semester Two (Jade Storm Tracker #2)

The Author, bravely, decided to rewrite much of this book. I just want to say I'm impressed with her dedication, bravery & the decision, as I felt it needed it, compared to the previous books, and it 100% benefited from the work.💖 What I'm truly disgusted to learn is that she had been bullied & harassed online by 'fans'!!😡💔😢 No Human Being deserves to be treated with such disrespect, to be shamed or ridiculed, she clearly works hard - So I truly hope they've learned to be better, kinder people themselves because as Jade Storm always says - No one is perfect, look in the mirror first!!🙏💕

I loved the new direction this edition took. Jade, although still weakened, emotionally & at times physically, was made stronger by her connections she's learning she absolutely has to trust!!🙏 Calvin had a wonderful 'reveal' that was both surprising, hot & powerful!🔥😉 Jade has a massive potential future & that is why Charles wants to control her & if he can't have her? Well then no one can - he fully intends to kill her!!😱

The Quads finally come to realise they're being manipulated into leaving Jade repeatedly unsafe. Zeke's Dark side comes out & sets their Division straight!🙈 Between the Quads, Calvin & her 3 Parentals safety is ramped up around her & Tracker Hive Academy!!👍 Breaches & power imbalances keep occurring & they can't figure out how until finally Charles makes his final & lethal play in Alaric's home!!😱😭💔

This is an a truly explosive edition. The reveals that come to light are huge & will be life changing for them all, IF they can stay alive!!😲🙏💥,
Congratulations Avery Song this is a truly worthy edition to the series!🎉🌟

Pretty Short & Not What The Blurb Said At All!!😳😔
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Tracker Hive Academy Book #2

The Blurb implied this book would have chaos, mayhem & Alaric going missing plus more - none of that happens. I just want to warn you!!😔 Its also pretty darn short unfortunately😕

This story is based more about all of the men in & around Jade's life. So her Dad, Tanner, Zeus, Zeke, Zachary & Zion plus Calvin. Shadow Jade (SJ) is in it more than Jade, who is either unconscious or asleep in hospital for most of it, as it's straight after the attack Charles made. SJ is truly fabulous & caring throughout, so cute!!💖

They aren't in school at all in the book, in fact the guys get sent away, back to their original Tracker office. Once she recovers, Alaric etc, all want her training hard so she's more ready for Charles next attack!!😳 The book then jumps around 6 months in the final chapter 😔😡

We did get to learn more about how powerful Jade truly is & can continue to become. There were also huge hints about Calvin's hidden powers & that maybe he has some type of a connection to Jade that we don't know about?! He 'school's the Trouble Four on their behaviour towards him, as did Tanner 🙌 😎 They really needed it, I didn't like the almost bullying a couple of them were heading towards!😡

Overall this felt like a filler. I'd rather have waited longer & got a much fuller read with a proper storyline!🍀 I enjoyed it but was left disappointed if I'm honest!😢 I'm very hopeful Book #3 will be back to the first books great standard 🙏💕

Rating: 1/5 (Spoilers ahead)

Tl;Dr: This can barely qualify to be called a book. It's more accurately an elaborately written wikipedia entry providing much needed exposition for readers to enjoy the next book in the series. Do not buy if you can. Don't reward this author for her cynical money-making scheme. If you need to read this, I recommend skimming through it in half an hour at the library. I repeat, do not reward this author, because she clearly has no respect for your money.

This book is such a let down from the first in the series, which I rated 5 stars. I was actually really excited for this book. But then this book reminded me what the author's gimmick is, and why I dropped the spellcasters' series. Avery Song apparently loves to churn out books by filling most of each book's contents with the white noise of each of its characters methodically listing and examining each feeling that passes through their minds, while carefully delaying any action or character motivation that could develop the storyline or add nuance to the worldbuilding. It is truly a bizarre experience to sit and read this stream of consciousness free-verse about the thoughts of love-struck teenagers. If this internal monologue helped us move the plot along and gave the reader a perspective that helped them appreciate the key themes or events of the book better, I could understand. This is literally just the author equivalent of a college student hedging in words and sentences to reach their word limit before the submission date. It's lazy and demeaning to the reader; not to mention a waste of money.

I mean, where to start with this book? First of all, it has no plot. It is 100% exposition. Over 90% of the book deals with the 3 days following the events of the last book, and only serves to catch us up with the turbulent past of the characters. There is no grace or effort put into weaving this into the plot line. It is just thrown out there for the readers to chew on while the author saves all the action for the next book. Because that's what happens. Right at the end, there is an explosion and the plot suddenly comes into the picture so that the author can end everything on a cliffhanger with the villain gazing down at the heroine with a gun in his hand. Aw, thank you, Avery Song! I'm glad to know you realized that readers buying your book expect a basic story for the money they're paying. This entire book could have been a wikipedia entry. It adds nothing or substance, with no character development. There is no progress. This book literally spends more time getting cookies and soft toys for Shadow Jade than actually moving the plot along.

I seriously don't understand why all these reviewers are rating this 3 and 4 stars. I actually wish I could complain to the publishers for even allowing this to be released. They should have forced the author to add in the third installment to this one so that readers actually get something with a plot.

It was ok

I read the previous book in this series and thought it was a great start. But I found this book a bit underwhelming. The main character spent most of her time unconscious while everyone talked around her.
Don’t know whether I’ll read the next one. Time seems to move at a rapid rate (time spent at the academy... year two), while she spends the entire time recovering from book one events apart from a quickie with one of the trouble four, lots of conversations and training?!?!
The story has lost its flow, so gave it three stars. But I’m one person, others may like it.

The Tracker Hive Academy
Semester 2

Jade Storm has known love and heartache from a young age, she was left homeless and living on the street the first year after she lost her parents and the rest of her family. But fortunately that changed when she met her adopted father. Not only does he know the truth of what happened to her and her family; but he was able to give her the stable environment that is so necessary to a girl who controls 8 elements.

Along with book knowledge, Jade also was given lessons on how to defend herself, which she passed with flying colors! She was made a Junior Tracker for the organization that her father started and increased her magical knowledge and effectiveness. Then Jade was given a new assignment, one she didn’t want and certainly didn’t need. But one of the things she promised herself was that if her father asked something of her, she would make sure that she accomplished the goal. Her next case took her into the very heart of her fathers organization and into the arms of her fated mates; her very own Hive.

At the end the first book, Jade met the man who was responsible for all her heartache and the loss of her family. He once again tried to take control of Jade, but Jade fought back! Now in this book, we learn the consequences of the fight and how finding him has become not only a new goal, but a necessity.

This author is very good at weaving little pieces of knowledge into her books, think of them as necessary pieces of information that will have a huge impact on the next book! So to get to the next level of her growth Jade had to go through the storm to become who she was always meant to be!

As Jade’s relationships are in fluctuation BIG secrets are revealed, new love interests are introduced and there is love, laughter and tears to be gotten through. This revamped book in the series seriously upped the steam, the adventure and the gut wrenching tears that we have come to expect from this terrific author! So why wait? Download this book today....you will be super happy you did!

I felt like a few things were missing... Not like plot things, or situations I wanted to happen. Actual literal parts missing. I felt like I had skipped ahead in some sections and things didn't make a whole lotta sense and it felt really short... On the plus side, I didn't notice any of the spelling or grammar issues others seem to have had since I was so busy trying to figure out what I missed?

Anyway, look forward to reading the next book (hopefully that one will make a bit more sense) since I'm definitely intrigued about the cliff-hanger, Calvin and Zeke's Light and Dark. Also, how is it summer with Christmas coming up? Is this set in Australia? Cause I gotta say, as an Aussie, I got no hints of that? Or did I just misunderstand?

Disappointed

This series has so much potential but unfortunately the author has sadly let themselves down by appearing to rush the completion of this book. The book was promising to start with, giving insight into the reasons why Jade is hunted and explored Calvin’s character. However after only around 150 pages the book jumps to six months later then ends. I’m just glad I didn’t buy the book and read it on kindle unlimited. I’ll still read book 3 when it’s released but if it’s no better I doubt I’ll read anything else by this author.

Semester Two Review (Spoilers Included)

Another great story by Avery Song! I can't get enough of Jade, Shadow Jade, The Trouble Four, and Calvin. I knew there was more to Calvin than meets the eye and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he is going to be a part of the Hive. I'm not sure how I feel about the third Hive member though being a woman, even though I kinda expected it since Jade is bi. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Seemed very rushed...

This book throws you all over.. more questions then answers. It does have its intrigue factor...SPOILER

I want to know who Calvin is (really) I hope he is part of the 2nd hive 🤞🏼

It really seems like this was a start to the story but got put on the back burner like it wasn't talking to the Author as much... I'll be reading the next one for sure but not because of Jade or her guys I'm more interested in Calvin puppy.
