Two classics of the American spirit together on audio for the first time! The Way to Wealth, originally a preface to the 1758 edition of Franklin's beloved Poor Richard's Almanack, presents a brief fable of a local wise man, Father Abraham, quoting Poor Richard to an eager crowd. In this inspiring tale, Franklin steps out of the past and shares with you his famed maxims about wealth, knowledge, virtue, and all other elements of business success. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin offers Franklin's life story, at least the first few decades, as he died without finishing it, as he tries to identify and develop a formula for personal success. Included is the popular Art of Virtue, in which Franklin lists the 13 qualities he hoped to possess. An early and influential advocate of the idea that any of us can create in ourselves the greatness to which we aspire, Franklin speaks across the centuries to listeners as clearly and practically as ever.

I am on a Ben Franklin binge and this was one of my favorites. Timeless sayings from Poor Richard's Almanac that sooo many consumers need to learn and live today. Not just for their pocket books, but to put a hault to keeping up with the Joneses mentality of society and generating more junk for the landfill. You get a good bit of everything in Ben Franklin's Autobiography, but this is a good quickie to get your fill.
Skarbnica przysłów i mądrych powiedzeń. W tej książce wyłania się obraz Franklina jako bardzo pracowitego, uczciwego i lojalnego przedsiębiorcy. Jego filozofia jest dla mnie niezwykle inspirująca.
Wow, I tried to listen to this as an audio book. I made it about 7 minutes. It was horrible--all about "poor richard says save a penny save a pound" or all kinds of silly cliches. It is silly. I had expected essays on wealth, the nature of work, and the like. I was sadly disappointed. Perhaps the autobiography will be better...
Uh-yeah-speaks to us if you want to be bored to tears-this was soo tedius. Benjamin Franklin comes off as a cocky know-it-all and more than a little OCD/perfectionist. I got like 70% of the way through it and then couldn't talke it anymore-it sounds like some stranger rambling on about their day, rather than imparting any wisdom. Could have been abridged big time.
It's interesting to see the humble beginnings of such a highly regarded national figure...unfortunately, he spends way too much time talking about his printing business and almost no time on anything else. Then the use of words like hither, thither, and henceforth start to become distracting. I'm glad I read it, but I can't say I'd recommend it to a friend.
Have to recommend this ! I especially enjoyed Wealth and Wisdom. Very fun and practical advice given in a classic B. Franklin way, his humor strewn throughout.
