The 10th edition can be found online for free. I was assigned a book through Cengage for my Managerial accounting course; the book was horrible. I found a lecture series on YouTube by Dr. Mark Meldrum ~ incredible work this gentleman does. He used this text. I highly suggest for anyone who wants a real mastery of this content to use this book and watch the lectures.

Absolutely captivating! This is the most enthralling book on managerial accounting that you will ever open. Careful, once you start, you will find it hard to put down. You may just want to take a few days off of work and school so you can set aside some time to really get into this one!

I had the pleasure of "leasing" this book for 6 months from the publisher as an eBook in a proprietary system (not Kindle). The system has some disadvantages: you can't export notes and highlights, nor can you copy text to paste elsewhere (such as in your Word document for your homework assignment).

Technical and price factors aside, this is a massive and dense book. If you can stay awake, you might learn something. I'm pretty happy that I'm taking "Accounting for Decision-Making" as part of my course and I think that these basic accounting concepts should be taught in high school as part of basic financial literacy. Good exercises - but since I'm renting the text book, I don't have access to the answers to check my work.

It wasn't that helpful for me because it did complicate a lot of the simple concepts that I was learning on some chapters I felt like it was completely not worth it, The University of Johannesburg ended up switching to a different textbook altogether the following year because of student complaints.

Astonishingly dry and the text will put you to sleep quickly. You could probably take out 2/3rds of this book and there would still be fluff. Just awful. I'm not giving it a 1 because the relevant information in the book is actually incredibly useful. 2/5

Garrison breaks down complex topics into easy-to-understand bite-sized pieces. I've used other accounting textbooks that seemed to begin somewhere in the middle. Garrison starts with the small pieces and then fits them all together so that they make a coherent whole. This textbook made the learning process as easy as possible.
