The two Legionaries appeared to be locked in an embrace.
They flew off the top of the slope. Their plunge, however, wasn’t voluntary.
They were pinned together by a long iron barb protruding through their stomachs.

Between clashes of the Qart Hadasht Empire and the upstart Republic, men died. Whether from sharp blades held by strong arms or stones and bolts launched by ancient artillery, the hand of death grabbed souls from both sides of the battle line.
Alerio Sisera will need more than an iron constitution, sharp steel, and a sturdy shield. To survive, he’ll need his wits, luck, and infinite courage.
Infinite Courage is book #8 in the Clay Warrior Stories series
The Clay Warrior Stories are deeply researched historical fiction combined with high adventure. There are no dragons, wizards, or magic spells. Just blades and men skilled in the art of war, living in a time when empires clashed. An era when death rode on the edge of sharp steel and only the lucky or the good walked away from a fight.
I write military adventure both future and ancient
Thank you for reading my author's profile. I write Military Adventure both Future and Ancient.
In early 2015 I sat down and began On Station. The Galactic Council Realm series is now four books long.
My wife and I have three rescue dogs. Our home is a dog house. Luckily, they are small dogs. This doesn't explain why the Galactic Council Realm has Space Cats. It's still a mystery to my dogs.
Another subject I am passionate about is history. While researching ancient Rome, I looked for books set before Rome became an Empire. They are few. Further study led me to the Roman Republic which lasted over 200 years.
Clay Warrior Stories takes place before the first Punic War in a world where making steel and clay bricks were the height of technology. There are 19 book in the Clay Warrior Stories. Welcome to 264 B.C.
A Legion Archer is a series set during the 2nd Punic war. The books follow Cornelius Scipio who would become Rome's greatest general and Jace Kasia, an archer, who saves him. Welcome to 218 B.C.
I am a United States Marine Corps veteran. My father was career Air Force, so I am also a service brat. I have lived in numerous states and a fair share of foreign countries. This influences my writing in creating diverse characters and locations.
Sisera is sent to Sicily by his patron. On his way there, he finds a rag tag century full of craftsmen, expecting to stay on the rear front and make infrastructure.
Such is not to be. On maneuvers, they are shown to be subpar, so they are sentenced to be part of the 50% solution...sent into the meat grinder, where half of them will be killed. Luckily, Sisera is able to whip the century up into fighting shape, helping them to survive in the thick of the fighting.
Much like a 1950's war movie, only set in Ancient Rome.
Once again Death Caller comes courting at Syracuse and he is learning to be a cartographer. With this new skill he will go far if he can keep his head on his shoulders.
Usual five stars. These are the finest portraits of life in the Roman legions that I have read. The action and tactics of the legion are well researched and gripping without getting too technical. A superb series highly recommended.
Another epic yarn of old this shows how much politics does not change and men in power hold on to it disregarding anything else such as the common manor soldier Moving on to the next book now and cannot wait to read the next instalment
