Now Tanna Murphy shows up, wanting to make amends? Nothing she could say would salvage Levi Brogan’s broken trust. Or so he says. Yet Levi needs someone at his beck and call for the next six weeks. And he’s discovered the perfect way Tanna can make it all up to him… With desire still burning between them, will temptation lead to their second chance?
Joss Wood loves books and travelling— especially to the wild places of Southern Africa and, well, anywhere.
She’s a wife, a mom to two teenagers, and is bossed around by two cats and a Great Dane X the size of a baby cow. After a career in local economic development, she now writes full time.
Second Chance Temptation by Joss Wood is the latest story in her Love in Boston series and as the title implies, gives a couple the chance for a redo, with better luck this time around.
Tanna Murphy was only 19 when she was involved in a serious car accident that killed her friend, the driver. In short order she ended up engaged to the man who had come across their accident, but realizing she wasn’t ready for marriage, left him at the altar. As a way of dealing with her survivor guilt, she’d moved away and taken training to become a paramedic, putting herself constantly into stressful and life altering situations. That decision has come with a cost, as she now is dealing with PTSD and in therapy. She’s been advised to return to Boston and confront her past – including her ex-fiance Levi Brogan.
Levi was heartbroken when Tanna left him, but has successfully moved on with his life. Recently involved in an accident of his own (though not nearly as serious as Tanna’s), he’s on the mend but still dealing with his injuries. Tanna’s appearance is both wanted and unwanted. He hasn’t been able to forget her, no matter how much he’s tried and her wish to apologize and try to make amends for leaving him as she did gives him an idea. If she’s staying in Boston for a few weeks (she won’t tell him why), he’ll get her to help him with his recovery by being an assistant of sorts.
There’s no denying the attraction that still exists between them, and when they mutually agree to an affair while she’s there with no strings attached it leads to some hot and heavy nights. But will it also heal their wounds and give them the courage to risk their hearts again?
I’ve been enjoying this series very much, and am delighted to see that it’s Levi’s turn to get a happy ending, after seeing his sisters find great partners. The main conflict in the story is Tanna’s internal one. As she was the one who asked her friend to drive the night she’d been drinking that ended in her friend’s death, she has felt like she doesn’t deserve to be happy since her friend is dead. Though she is good at her paramedic job, she takes no enjoyment in it but sees it as a penance she must pay. What she would love to do is to rejoin her family in Boston and work with them at their art auction house, and to be back in a relationship with Levi again. But that means having to let go of her guilt which is easier said than done.
Though Levi insists at the start that their rekindled relationship will just be a sexual one, he knows he is lying to himself and has never stopped loving Tanna. He realizes that she may leave him again after all, but is also aware that a relationship with her will not work in the long run if she doesn’t make the choice to stay on her own, no matter how much he wants to convince her to let go of the past. Their love scenes are sexy and passionate. There are several secondary characters, including Levi’s mother and sisters as well as Tanna’s brothers who play an important part in the story. It looks like there will be more stories to come in a spinoff series with Tanna’s family and I look forward to her brothers’ books too! Fans of second chance romances with strong characters will enjoy this entertaining read.
Joss Wood is one of my go-to authors... there was no chance I wouldn’t enjoy this book - right?
There was much to like: - The lead characters were interesting and crucially, despite their wealthy and gilded lives, relatable and rounded. Joss always does such a great job with her characters and Levi (our hero in this book) is emotionally mature and rises above the simple characterisations seen in many romances. Our heroine, was less multi dimensional, but nonetheless was a fresh and slightly unusual character. - Some stereotypes around gender emotional characteristics were challenged, without making the point in a shouty or jarring way. There is much equality evident in this book, whether financial, sexual, power or emotional, between the characters (not just the lead characters). This is under lined by the writing style which pretty much evenly writes from both of the hero’s and heroine’s viewpoints. - The narrative was fresh and pacy with some familiar tropes turned on their head. There was a large cast of characters, most of whom only featured lightly but nonetheless add to the emotional weight of the book by introducing warm and loving family and friend relationships. We are taken into interesting worlds (fashion, art, boats) and places (London and Boston, USA). - Not for the first time, the author gives us a sidebar plot of an older woman finding herself and a younger man. Big kudos for that. - The story telling is efficient, A cast of characters is introduced, scenes are set, histories are sketched out quickly and clearly and there is much to take in.
This latter point also detracted from the book for me as I felt there was limited room for the locations or narrative richness to breathe. More crucially I felt that the lead characters’ emotional angst and resolution did not move beyond the superficial, it was told rather than shown. Perhaps this was due to lack of space. For me this meant that the characters were a little 2-dimensional; they were richly coloured and engaging but ultimately too flat - in an analogy in keeping with the book’s themes they were more of a painting than a sculpture. The busy scene setting and character introductions detracted from the level of emotional engagement I had with the story.
The book is clearly a foundation for a series and if you know Joss’ other works this seems most similar to the Ballantyne Billionaires series.
So, I enjoyed this right? Yes I did. Whilst I would have like a little more emotional connection this was a sparkly tale, set in an interesting but relatable world with lead characters that rose above the norm.

Second Chance Temptation is a book all about second chances. It’s about forgiveness not just to others but yourself as well. Years ago Tanna ran from happiness in Levi’s arms. Neither have really moved on from each other. When Tanna comes back home and ends up on Levi’s doorstep. Levi can’t resist the temptation to make Tanna pay for leaving him. While Tanna feels the need to atone for her past mistakes. For those that like some steamy encounters with their romance this book is for you. My heart went out to Tanna and what she went through. Can her and Levi work through the issues keeping them apart? Pick up a copy and find out. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Thanks to Joss Wood and Booksprout for allowing me an ARC. SECOND CHANCE TEMPTATION is book four in Joss Wood's ever steamy Love in Boston series and we have finally gotten to Levi's story! We've watched him from the sidelines as he pulled his overprotective big brother duties while his sisters found love, and now it's his turn to do an about face as the past comes back to haunt him. The story line was fresh, emotional and oh so satisfying!
If you've been following along with the series, Levi was already very familiar with you from Jules, Darby and DJ's stories so he's a draw immediately as you start to read. Learning about his past and watching him try not to open his heart to his ex again is quite entertaining.
Tanna is quick to snag the attention of the reader as well. She broke Levi's heart, but it's easy to spot the guilt that still eats her alive over her accident long ago. Seeing her finally allow herself to start to forgive is absolute gold.
I highly recommend this series as a whole, and this book was particularly sweet. If you enjoy a close knit family who doesn't hesitate to step in to protect those they love, this family is for you. I'm looking forward to meeting more of Tanna's family in future books!
I love a second chance. I adore seeing a couple get another shot to make right something that had gone horribly wrong. Levi and Tanna are a pair I really, really wanted to see get it right. The emotional undertow here is strong and treacherous. Tanna’s survivor’s guilt oozes from her pores and pervades the air around her at all times. It’s sometimes a little heavy to wade through. Coupled with Levi’s complicated history with his father, I spent most of this book wanting to hug the pair tight and promise them it would all get better. This book stands alone, but not perfectly. There are references to events and relationships established in previous books that I’m sure would make more sense if I’d read those stories before this. Mind you, now I want to read them as well as the ones coming out about Tanna’s brothers. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
I’ve really enjoyed all of the Love in Boston books by Joss Wood, but this one was my absolute favorite. From the very beginning you felt the deep love and history between Levi and Tanna, and you could really understand her struggle with survivors guilt after her accident, and feel Levi’s hurt over Tanna leaving. The author does an amazing job of really bringing their feelings to life. You couldn’t help but want to see them overcome it all to find their way back to each other. I can’t recommend this story enough, it’s a must read. Way to go Joss Wood!! I’m really looking forward to Tanna’s brothers’ stories coming out next!
Will Levi and Tanna have their 2nd chance at love This is my 2nd book by Joss and I love the steamy interactions between Tanna and Levi. Tanna left Levi with no explanation before their wedding and headed to Europe to find herself and pay back the debt of surviving the accident that killed her best friend. Tanna’s PTSD interferes with her lifesaving job, so she returns home to get past the PTSD. Levi is laid up after an accident and gets Tanna to help him around the house because she owes him. Will there spending time together rekindle their love for one another? You have to read to find out and won’t put the book down until you turned the last page.
Tanna and Levi have a pretty big past and it is one Tanna walked away from after the rehearsal dinner so no wonder he is like a viper when she turns up on his door step but now the roles have changed and he is the one hurt after an accident so Levi decides to pay her penance she has to look after him until he can move around again on his own. There is a lot of attraction and some steamy scenes mixed into this story as well as self reflection and reassessment of why you do what you do in life which makes it such a great read!!

Levi Brogan is a private, calculated man who just crashed his dirt bike and needs help. And ten years ago l, he was left by the love of his life, Tanna.
Tanna has ptsd from a crash where her friend died and she didn’t. It was the reason why she walked away from a life of privilege and Levi (she felt she didn’t deserve it and needed to be better). Now an emt, she’s back to make amends and confront her demons and explain why she left Levi.
I really liked Levi.

Second Chance Temptation is a heartbreaking and emotional story about the love between Levi and Tanna. They are wonderfully developed characters, both heartbroken and torn over their past. The story is well written, with secrets, forgiveness, atonement, steamy scenes, and a second chance at love.
I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Emotional and fascinating! This book is steamy and amazing and will push your boundaries and leave you breathless!
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story - all of it had me wanting this book to go on and on.
The chemistry between the H and h is great plus their attitudes and events going on make the story even richer.

Definitely a sweet second chance romance. This story showcased how we ought not judge a book by it's cover, definitely never judge or think a situation is what it is. The other person may be going through a tough situation which resulted in unwanted consequences. Loved Joss Wood's writing as usual! Good job!
I enjoyed Tanna and Levi's story! It's a second chance story that is nicely developed and very captivating. Tanna and Levi were engaged to be married. She has second thoughts and right before the wedding leaves. Ten years later she is back to face Levi. Levi was heartbroken when she left. Now he is injured, needs a nurse and wants revenge. This is a wonderful romance.
Interesting, second chance relationship romance story with intriguing characters. The well-written book kept my attention throughout, enjoyed reading. I have voluntarily chosen to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed reading this book as it is all about getting a second chance and forgiveness. Tanna was in love with Levi and they were about to get married but she walked away. Neither of them were able to move on. There was heartache, sadness and so much pain and my heart went out to Tanna and everything that she has gone through. Will things work out for them or is it too late you will have to read this book to find out. Joss is an amazing author and talented writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed. I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy Of This Book.
Well this was incredibly good 🙂. Levi and Tanna make for well suited adversaries, and how❣️. The opening gambit was hilarious and head tilting 😄😄.
It was also deep and sensuous and entertaining and rich and everything you’ll need to help you escape into a world you can only imagine 💭.
There are also smooth setups for the following 📚 in the series, and it is flawlessly done 😏. Tell the gang about it, they won’t be disappointed, ‘I promise’ 😉.
