Rate this book
If you have ever said, "I bleed Black & Gold"; then Harry Greb will become your hero!

If you have never heard of Harry Greb; then buckle up Buttercup! Get ready for the ride of your life! You're about to discover another reason to be Pittsburgh Proud!
To be from "The Burgh" means you stand for something. You believe in toughness, hard work and family and friends above all else.

If you’ve got a problem with some, "Jagoff"; well then, "Let's take it outside!" You drink hard and play hard! And if you do drink and play hard; you still get your ass up in the morning and get to work on time! With your lunch pale and hardhat in hand; you're ready for anything life throws at you!

People from Pittsburgh pride themselves on being from the "Steeltown". Our grandfathers’ fathers forged this town from the wilderness. Our father's fathers fought at the "Homestead Riots". Our uncles and even aunts worked deep within the earth mining coal. Our ancestors were tough! You know why? ’Cause life is tough, Cupcake!

Harry Greb was the living personification of all things Pittsburgh, Baby!

God himself poured the spirit of Pittsburgh, the will of a fighter, flesh, bone, toughness and steel into a molten hot blast furnace. When he was done he had forged a steel ingot of a man. His name was Harry Greb.

He stood 5' 8 ½ inches. He weighed 158 lbs. Some called him "The Pittsburgh Wildcat"; others called him "The Pittsburgh Windmill". Everyone called him, "Champ!".

From 1913-1926 he fought over three hundred times! You know how many he lost? Count ’em! Only seventeen times did our hero lose. And some of those, well, let's say he got robbed! Oh, and by the way, I'm sure you have heard of Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey! Even Dempsey was afraid of Greb!

But if you think this is just a story about some dumb boxer, think again! It's a tale of life, love, tragedy and above all else, the toughest man to ever call Pittsburgh home!

So get ready, jump into Harry's 1923 Buick Convertible and hang on! ’Cause Harry never slows down, Baby!

Great read on the life of a true pittsburgh legend. Randy's knowledge of the fight game is second to none. Grebs impressive 300 fight career is illustrated with great passion from his epic battles with gene tunney and tiger flowers to world titles in multiple weight divisions. The "pittsburgh windmill" is accurately depicted with his iron chin and swarming style often fighting men much bigger than him. Must read for boxing historians.
