Collects Spider-Man/Deadpool #1-5, #8-10, #13-14 and #17-18.
The Webbed Wonder and the Merc With a Mouth are the double act of your dreams! And legendary Deadpool creative team Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness have reunited to make it everything you ever hoped for - beginning with the Dread Dormammu! But will a fledgling friendship turn sour when Wade Wilson's next target turns out to be...Peter Parker?! Someone is messing with our wascally wisecrackers, and they've blended the genetics of our heroes to create one murderous, mixed-up miss named Itsy Bitsy. She's Spidey and 'Pool's "daughter" - and she has seriously creepy daddy issues! Can the proud parents work together to put a stop to her rampage? Prepare for action, adventure and just a smattering of (b)romance as Spidey and Deadpool show the comic-book world what a real dynamic duo looks like!
At the start i was like: the two best smarta$$es in the Marvel universe together in one book, what's not to love? Heavy on the sarcasm and action and beautifully drawn for one really good graphic novel, so HOORAY for that! But at the end I didn’t get the last Itsy Bitchy part, (unless this was a deeply subversive and dry satire). The characters were unpleasant and they only vaguely resembled the titular characters of the book. This was almost bro-mantic (with emphasis on the Bro) except it was weighed down with endless and repetitive existential discussions about ennui and how the struggle is real. The villain (whose superpowers included plot immunity, fanservice, and creepy fetishism) failed to rise to a level where she makes us forget that the heroes are insufferable, nor did she sell the “fall” of our “hero”.
3.5. Deadpool has a major superhoer crush on Spider-man, and tries to team up with him. But he's also hoping that their superhero friendship will distract Spider-Man from how DP has been hired to kill Spidey's boss, Peter Parker. How does that go for them?
To interesting places. This was sarcastic and quippy, as any good Deadpool comic should be, but some of the humor was super fetishy gross and other bits were just annoyingly white male-like. And I found it weird that when DP acted like a hero his cancer seems to have retreated and he looked like a regular human being? Eh, not a fan of that. But the interesting part is really Spidey coming back different after DP did the wrong thing, and the fight for his soul. I feel like some of DP's characterization got lost. Overall, I like Gerry Dugan's writing of him better, but some of these adventures were super fun.
You just know this was going to be a fun ride. Spider-Man & Deadpool have always had a funny relationship. What with Deadpool’s Spidey-Crush. Some great funny moments & some good action pieces too. We get to see the ‘child’ of Spider-Man & Deadpool. This hardcover collects the issues that make up the first arc in this comic series (the missing number issues are left out, I can see from looking them up that they were not to do with this plot). Would have liked to have read them but this is one of those GN collections that are for the arc rather than a collection of every single comic issue. But it’s a nice hardcover & knew that coming in. So it’s not like it was a disappointment or anything. Well worth a buy if you like (like I do) hardcovers, Deadpool & Spider-Man. I did not own or have read the issues before however. It’s merits if you have would be up to you.
I like Spider-man when he is not overly whiney. I like Deadpool when he is not overly sexual. I thought I would love this team-up. Meh, not so much. It was like slogging through mud to finish the book. I do not like Itsy-bitsy at all.
