If you love to read small poetry or micro tales, this book is for you! This book is inspiring, relatable and profound.

A published book in your hands is someone's hard work, sweat and efforts. Hajra is a beautiful soul and it shows through her writing. This book is a perfect cosy winter read for a sore heart. Needless to say, I was baffled with what I found folded into the pages. I was expecting an inspirational slightly tacky read much like how I viewed poetry prior to this. What I found was vulnerability, startling bluntness, and a pure and raw story laced into the pages!

The poems are sweet and idealistic. Overall, I really enjoyed this compilation of poems and would totally recommend to anyone who is looking to heal from a bad experience in life. I do not subscribe to the belief that poetry must be difficult to be meaningful, hence, I truly enjoyed this book.

VERDICT – ‘The Right Escape’, is a ‘modern classic’, worthy to be read out loud, written in texts to loved ones, and learnt by heart. The reminder to appreciate yourself and to embrace love, separation and the process of self-discovery is timeless.

The Right Escape

If poetry is an ocean in a droplet, ‘The Right Escape’ is a beautiful encapsulation of the journey of love in a paperback.

Since time, it’s been the tireless pursuit of authors and poets to put the emotions of falling, being and hurting in love.
And I believe true justice could only be done by experiencing these emotions first hand.
But, we all need a pole to hike this journey and that could very well be ‘The Right Escape.’

This book does justice to the undulating voyage of experiencing your first love, first heartbreak, unexpected separations, comfort in a stranger’s presence, inevitable self-love and the blinding hope for true love around the corner. This isn’t a hitchhiker guide to the mind of a hopeless romantic, but rather an antidote to the rise and falls you may experience in your journey of life.

As she says, after all nothing’s worse than not giving it a chance. I recommend everyone to give this piece of art a read and let it work its own magic in your heart!

Here’s to you and your first milestone, Hajra! ❤️

If you're a lover of one-liners/microtales, this book will sure be your pal. For someone like Hajra, who stepped out doing everything by herself, I'd say I'm proud of her. The words in the book used to be in her zine which was sold in plenty. And now it's a book! It's so glad to see someone's hardwork, sweat and efforts on my shelf.
She even writes in Hindi and personally, I love her Hindi ones wayyy more than her English writing. This book was her first baby and I can't judge it at all. But all I can say is that it's relatable, pretty much for me. There are few pieces that really caught my heart. I hope her next book is gonna beat this one. I didn't feel like drowning in the book. But it's okay! Perhaps that's the thing about microtales/one-liners, I don't know. But I surely am looking forward to get lost next time. Hajra Shaikh!! YA HEAR ME?! LET ME DROWN IN YOUR NEXT BOOK! LOVE YA!!!

This whole collection was amazing the poems and flow of short verses that speak deeply of realising your worth and it being their loss when a relationship falls apart.

A couple of stand out poems of this collection to me were:

Love In It's True Sense, was a poem about caring and helping, not causing, stress to each other, in a true, loving relationship.

Our Situation-Ship, was a clever poem literally about a relationship being alike a sinking ship. Trying, yet failing, to keep going in the situation.

The collection was completed by an inspirational author's note too which encourages you to not give up on any dream and I hope the author is happy to see their book get another new positive review.

I read this book around 2 years ago when it was still in the form of a zine, and till today and I can say that it is one of my favourites when it comes to poetry and have quotes in it that are going to stay with me for the rest of my life. The language is simple yet every piece hits you differently and holds a lot of depth. If you like contemporary poetry I highly suggest to go for this one💜

Why haven't you read it yet?

It is a perfect cozy winter read for a sore heart. I could relate to each and every word of Hajra. I loved the tenderness in her words which is so rare to find. I also believe she has more potential in her and can't wait for her future works. Thanks for writing this, Hajra❤️
