Rate this book
Dip into your new obsession in this steamy gay ballroom romance! The beautifully-detailed, lithe bodies of the two "kings of the ballroom" fly across the dance floor as rivals build a volatile bond in this red-hot romance!

"I Love You."

Those were the words Suzuki uttered softly to Sugiki before the two parted ways. Although the two men have since reunited and restarted their dance lessons, it's clear neither can forget their shared past. As both Suzuki and Sugiki struggle to suppress the residual feelings they hold for each other, a man appears on the scene who will change their destiny...forever.

This volume felt pretty meandering compared to the others. Largely because this volume sort of treads water while we get introduced to new characters. There’s not a lot of interaction between Sugiki and Suzuki. The longest time we get is interspersed with a lot of flashbacks of them dancing together.

On the bright side, it sets up for what looks like more volumes of the story. The downside is, this makes for a volume where i wasn’t really invested.

Okay when volume 7 comes out I'm definitely rereading this series because I'm so confused. It's been so much to take in and these two are frustrating the crap out of me, because I just want them to be together, but I know why they're not. Plus this scummy Max guy? What the hell is up with that?? Now that they've got these new teachers I feel like they'll probably stay separate at least until they have their competition then after that maybe they can stop being stubborn >:(

This book was very dull compared to the first 5 books. It feels like an intermission, and spent a lot of time rehashing things that happened in past volumes. I really adore this series, but after waiting so long for this book, I was sorely disappointed.

I am honestly worried that there were a few pages out of order in my copy because there's an event that happens that does not fit where it happened and makes no sense within the story, but I don't know if that's just my copy or what so I'm not taking that into consideration in my rating. If it is part of the story, then I have some questions.

I'm almost sure I read every volume of this, but I feel like I missed something.

And yikes, was not expecting the casual aside with the new character Muldaur. That was uncomfortable.

This volume slowed the breakneck pace of the series way down. I'm interested to see where volume 7 takes the story.

The new patron is way too needy with both the main characters.

Okay so this is REALLY well done — this whole series is wonderful and I've gobbled it up — and the series itself is a 10/10 for me in terms of stars/ratings/whatever. This particular volume is just sad because it's both of the heroes post-breakup, a lot of transitions for the plot, and the introduction of some rivals...and then it's done! These kinds of cliffhanger volumes are necessary for the story but just don't hit quite the same.

THAT BEING SAID I am super excited for the series to continue and am intrigued by how the mangaka will continue to elevate and expand things. This is *not* a BL series to read if you want a lot of direct romance, but if you're into stories about creativity and art and passion and the heady nature of two artists who inspire each other while also competing, this hits the spot and does so with a clear, rich romance at its center. I also think the mangaka does some particularly gorgeous scenes in this volume of flashbacks that are just *chef's kiss* so emotional.

This volume was a let down. They broke up at the end of last volume. They still dance and practice together, but they aren't together. There were sparks flying but both of them are being stubborn. There were lots of new characters introduced here.

They get sponsors and they are going on to win dancing competitions. All their work is paying off now. Still, they won't let themselves be with each other. The volume was sort of all over the place. I can't believe it went a whole volume and things are patched up yet. really?

I don't want an on again/off again story, or will they/won't they. Not my speed. I'm losing some interest in this. There is one more volume before we have to wait for more. I'll see if it's worth going on.

i wonder how everything will pan out now. theres a thread of hope, but how sturdy is it? i wonder how their relationship will be handled during this period of training. smh these fools ;-;.
and i love saichi :> he’s a great addition to to story!! but max? eugh.

(also, this kind of reminds me of ‘blue morning’ in certain aspects.)

Um what? I’m sorry but the wth was that at the end of chapter 32?!? And this new Max guy… is everyone so crude in this comic? And abusive? Did Sugiki seriously agree to be at the beck and call of someone apparently abusive (given what Max says to him the very first time they met) just so Suzuki could get a patron? That’s just disgusting and unrealistic. And apparently Norman’s dancing was so magical because he made the audience believe in an incestuous relationship between him and his sister who is also his dance partner. Quelle romance! 🤮

Has it been that long since I’ve read volume five? I’ve seen to have forgotten how it ended. This volume meanders; I wish more had happened. I wanted to see more of the main pair. However, it looks like we are getting more story as new characters are introduced. There’s promise. The dance and the flashback was a nice moment. Overall, it was decent but lacking… 3/5.

Illustrations continue to be beautiful. This volume is coming on close to heartbreaking as the Shinyas are drifting farther and farther apart while they still pine for one another. I wonder how long this separation will last. Artistry, especially for their final dance, is what is giving the book more stars despite my disappointment that they are separating and not acting on their feelings.

I've got a bit mixed feelings from this one. Max part with all the 'patron' thing feels a bit far-fetched/stupid too me...and generally I listed through first couple chapters with no much attention. However the park dance and Norman's appearance chapter were the huge elevation of this volume and they make this worth-reading further.

Absolutely love the way expressions are drawn for the characters and also the way complex and realistically messy relationships are handled, all set against such a beautiful and physical world as ballroom dance!

Dropped at chapter 33. I’m just not enjoying it. And I really can’t get on board with the “I’ll whore myself out for the other guy’s dance career” plotline, which feels like it came out of nowhere.
