Professor With Benefits

Rate this book
A full-length, standalone college romance from Amazon bestselling author Hazel Kelly.

Sadie’s no princess, and she doesn’t appreciate being treated like one. As far as she’s concerned, women who don’t wear ridiculous shoes don’t need to be swept off their feet, and the last thing the world needs right now is one more hopeless romantic maiming one more unsuspecting daisy.

But when a handsome, young professor takes an unprofessional interest in her mossy green eyes and muddy attitude, she can’t help but enjoy the sparkly feeling his attention stirs in her. And the more he lays on the charm, the more she fears she’s not as attached to her loneliness as she once thought.

Too bad he’s off limits. Then again, limits have never really interested Sadie.

But dreamy professors with penetrating blue eyes and sinfully sexy stubble? That’s a subject that’s about to make her senior year very interesting indeed…

**Professor With Benefits is full of sass, steam, and plenty of swoon-worthy moments that will make you smile all over. Happy ending guaranteed.

Consumed by her past, Sadie Sawyer is a troubled young woman. A preference to black clothing, combat boots and thick black eyeliner; her beauty is masked by loneliness.

Amongst friends she meets Kellan at a frat party except they don't know that their paths will cross again in class. Drawn to one another instantly, neither can deny their connection over verbal barbs and vodka shots.

“I could tell just from looking in her dark eyes, which seemed full of pain.  Pain I wanted to take away.  Kiss away.  Fuck away.  Pain I feared would haunt my nightmares.”

Sadie finds herself in Professor Kellan Montgomery’s class and both try to ignore what is building between them. But they click. Sadie was an extremely likeable snarky heroine with a penchant for trouble and adventure. And Kellan for all his good intentions was the hot teacher who was enamoured by her.

“I licked my lips, turned on by the torment in his face.  No one had ever wanted me like this.  It was like he didn’t even care what was at stake, like wanting me wasn’t a choice.”

Between drinks in a dingy pub, motorbike rides in the rain and tequilas, these two were freaking adorable. Do not go into this story expecting a smutty read because what you get is an actual romance, beautifully done. This story will pull on your heartstrings. I hurt for Sadie and wished for her happy ending the entire time. Also, who knew that scientific metaphors could be so sexy??

5 FULL STARS!!
"You're the only woman whose heartbeat I want to feel against mine."
WOW!! Professor with Benefits was all kinds of awesome!

I had zero expectations going on here when I started . . . Hazel Kelly is a new-to-me author and the title didn't thrill me, but both Lulu and Isabella REALLY liked it. So I muttered a fine, I'll give it a chance.

Ha! I loved every word of it . . . honestly, it was a quintessential New Adult college read if you like your books with a bit of a darker edge to them.

Sadie has been living in the shadow of her past for years now. It's made her jaded, mostly uncaring, and reckless.
As far as I could tell, the best thing about ageing was that the older I got, the fewer fucks I gave about the opinions of my peers.
A chance meeting with the mysterious Kellan at a party breathes some momentary life into her.
His voice alone was enough to part my legs.
The attraction between them is immediate, and while Kellan isn't sure, he thinks it might go beyond the physical.
I wanted to know more about the pain in her eyes.
But the joke is on both of them because it turns out Kellan is the last-minute replacement professor for one of Sadie's classes when the new semester starts.

I really liked the way the author used the taboo aspects to give the story just a pinch of the forbidden to add some tension to the plot. I would call it more of a 'faux taboo' read as it was very much this:
"I believe two consenting adults should be allowed to do whatever they want behind closed doors as long as it doesn't hurt anyone."
In no way was Kellan the aggressor or Sadie the victim (in fact, Sadie would be highly offended by the idea, lol). But the rules are the rules . . .
There was nothing safe about the way I wanted her.
I LOVED everything about the writing here; the conversational feel of it, the slightly dark tone, the heat, the fabulous banter, and the poignant self-realization. It all came together as these two wonderfully complex characters fell in love.

Highly recommend!

Intelligent ⭐️

Well, well! I expected a smutty read, due to its forbidden part - teacher/student relationship and based on the teasers you can see below, but the word for this book is actually smart. Intelligent.

I couldn’t even focus that much of their sexual relationship (which is kind of amazing too), as for me it was more important to admire their dialogues, interesting topics of discussions, learning new things (like what’s Kintsugi) and basically enjoying to the max everything else, besides the hot stuff.

Trying to paint you a picture of what this book is about, i would say this: senior college girl, silently suffering from depression and anxiety, way too smart and sassy, meets one of her Professors a few days before school starts. They start their forbidden relationship as soon as she vomits a Skittles Vodka Rainbow on his shoes (this was actually hilarious and part of many future inside jokes between them).
Nothing about this story is boring or cliché.

I loved their quick-wit banter! Like:

“Is this room 408?” I smiled too hard. “I prefer Sadie.”

or

“I asked you because I couldn’t help myself.” She cocked her head. “Because you’re a star.” “A star?” she asked, narrowing her eyes at me. “I think you mean stardust?” “That depends on whether I want to flatter you with science or literature.”

And I really feel the need to show you some of the things I was so impressed with:

“I mean, of all the kinds of freedom a person could enjoy, I’d trade financial and spiritual freedom for the freedom to not give a fuck what other people thought of me every day of the week.”

“What’s your star sign?” My eyes popped wide. “Seriously?” “No. Not seriously.” My chest loosened. “You realize most people don’t even know their actual star sign, right?” “What do you mean?” “I mean the zodiac calendar was fixed over two thousand years ago, and the Earth has shifted on its axis since then. So, basically, while the constellations themselves haven’t changed, they have “drifted” in terms of when they appear.”

“His eyes narrowed. “What?” “Kintsugi. The Japanese art of golden joinery.” He cocked his head. “You’re losing me.” “They do this thing in Japan where they repair broken pottery with golden lacquer.” His bottom lip protruded as he listened. “And the effect is basically that it calls attention to imperfections by highlighting them and making them beautiful. It also makes any piece where this method is applied totally unique.”

I have sooooooo many other quotes worth of putting here, but I should leave you the pleasure of discovering them by yourselves once you read this book.

I really don’t know what else to say to you to convince you that you MUST read this book!
I wish I could be as smart as Sadie and better explain the story and give you more arguments, but I hope you’ll trust me enough, feel my passion and love for this novel and one-click it without any doubts.

Excerpt:

I licked my lips, turned on by the torment in his face. No one had ever wanted me like this. It was like he didn’t even care what was at stake, like wanting me wasn’t a choice.

My mind flashed back to the first day of class when I told him I would’ve given him everything. At the time, I’d been teasing him, having a bit of harmless fun. But it didn’t feel so harmless now. Now that I realized I meant it. Now that I realized I didn’t just want to get naked for this guy. I wanted to strip down to my soul.

His eyes searched mine as he clenched his jaw, holding his tension there for ages. It was like time stood still. We didn’t move. We didn’t breathe. We didn’t blink. Soon, the thundering rain softened slightly, and a few minutes later, it let up a little more. Still, we stayed put.

I wondered what he was thinking, but nothing could’ve improved on the silence between us just then. It was perfect, delirious. Besides, I didn’t have a coherent thought in my head. All I had was a bunch of feelings, and those were even more impossible to interpret. They wouldn’t even hold still. It was like they were exploding inside me like fireworks one after another, a chain reaction of punctuated bliss and paralyzing sexual frustration.

The twenty-two bus pulled up to the shelter as the rain stopped, and Kellan waved the driver away when he opened the door.

“We should’ve gotten on,” I said, smiling as it pulled away. “See where it might’ve taken us.”

“I thought we were happy here.” His crazy blue eyes sparkled. “I was thinking we should never leave.”

“It would be easy to invite friends over,” I said. “Living right on the bus route.”

“No. No friends. No visitors.”

I scrunched my nose. “Just us? At this bus stop? Forever?”

He squeezed the back of his neck and looked me up and down like I was magic. Like I’d enchanted him, and he never wanted to come out from under my spell. “We could do worse.”

When I picked up this book, I didn't expect it to be so gripping and intense... It wasn't a light story. Sadie, the heroine, had her issues she had to deal with, but they just added another layer to the story, and it became more than just your typical student/teacher romance. Basically, I love this trope in general, but the way it was handled here was truly great and I loved how everything unfolded. I also liked that they were practically the same age (despite being a professor and a student). It was quite refreshing compared to other books with this trope.
"There was nothing safe about the way I wanted her."

The main characters had great chemistry and connection between them was portrayed as instant, which honestly is a thing I struggled a little bit with. Their "overwhelming sense of having found something, something they didn't want to live without" after just such a short time they knew each other (or rather they didn't even know each other at this point), was nice but unbelievable for me and it diminished my impression of the book a little bit. On the other side I loved how much Sadie grew within the book and adored the way Kellan saw her, how devoted he was and how he let her set the pace...

TW: This book touches several hard issues like suicide, mental health, self loathing

I love a book that surprises me by giving me more than I expected, and that's what Professor With Benefits did! Yes, it's a well-written, steamy (as in fog up the windshield) teacher/student illicit relationship story, but it goes so much deeper by tackling some tough issues involving loss, grief, depression, and mental health . . . as well as dealing with the repercussions of forbidden romance. I was quickly hooked on the story and read it mostly in one sitting.

Professor Kellan Montgomery is only two years out of college himself when he meets a very sexy, sassy college senior, Sadie Sawyer, at a frat party (his last hoorah before starting teaching duties). Kellan is an intelligent, almost-too-good-to-be-true hunk who's sworn off meaningful relationships. And while he may have rode in on a white horse, he knows he has to fight his sudden overwhelming desire to have and save the drunk woman dressed in gothic black with pain in her eyes - the one who's just thrown up on his shoes. From the moment their eyes meet, he knows it spells trouble, and he's in danger of losing his heart and career.

Sadie is on shaky ground in both her life and college career when she meets Kellan - not knowing who he is. She's been warned . . . one more strike and she's out of school with only two semesters to go before graduation. Her choice of all black in dress and make-up mirrors her damaged soul while masking her pain and the darkness growing within her - a warning sign to keep others a safe distance away. She certainly isn't looking for Prince Charming, but there's something about Kellan that teases her senses while threatening to reignite a flame within her that was extinguished years ago. On the first day of classes, both are shocked to discover that he's her professor and she's his student. It would be a very bad idea for either of them to act on their sizzling chemistry and sensuous desire, and yet neither can find the strength to walk away. It is, of course, a disaster waiting to happen.

The story that unfolds is told through dual points of view with lots of sexy banter and heart-eyes moments, giving readers an inside track to the want, need, chaos, and turmoil taking place in each character's head. I appreciate that the plot line goes beyond what I have come to expect from a typical teacher/student story as it follows the developing relationship between these characters as well as their journey of self-discovery. Through laughter, tears, love, and fiery burn-the-house-down sex scenes, readers will fall head over heels in love with Kellan & Sadie. I like that the author digs deeper, unmasking the emotional turmoil and dark forces driving these characters - especially Sadie as she almost succumbs to the buried grief and depression that's feeding her suppressed anger. Fans of the series will love seeing more of Carter and Nina in strong support roles although I can say this book can be read as a standalone with no problem. Professor With Benefits is a Must Read - an illicit love story keeping it real even as the chemistry sizzles and true love blossoms!

Sultry, Steamy, and titillating!

Professor with Benefits is the slightly darker, third book in the Beta Brothers series that introduces us to Carter’s older brother Kellen, and Nina’s older cousin Sadie who immediately connect when they meet one night at the last frat party of the summer.

The writing is clear and seductive. The characters are damaged, fragile, and multilayered. And the plot told from alternating POVs is an emotionally passionate tale of friendship, familial drama, loss, love, grief, depression, support, and forbidden romance.

Overall, Professor with Benefits is an easy, alluring, entertaining read by Kelly that has characters you can’t help but root for and a storyline that does an excellent job of highlighting mental health struggles and their effect on everyday life.

Thank you to Hazel Kelly for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

So this was a probably it’s not you it’s me review but I think I read this book when I was in the mood for something a bit more angsty. Kellan was a lovely hero , heroine didn’t do it for me I just couldn’t warm to her. Their relationship didn’t feel that forbidden as they were practically the same age but it still passed a couple of hours . If you want something hawt with low angst this is the book for you!

It also irks me when American authors write Irish characters as cliched leprechauns who are one sentence away from saying 'begara' and drink a pint of the black stuff, as was the case for the Irish character called Tommy.

I liked it a lot! It's probably my favourite book in this series!
It's Sadie and Kellan's story. Sadie is Nina's cousin. And she has been struck by tragedy. And Kellan, insert sigh, who is willing to heal her. And healing himself in the process.
The story is good. I didn't get the feeling that it was slow as it happened with the other two books in the beginning.
And Kellan has just become the best character in the series. Noe I just want a scientist in my life!!!
Thank you, Hazel Kelly for sending me a copy.

This is a five star read!
It was recommended to me by Melanie and I have to say I’m in love. It’s a stand-alone that’s apart of a series.

Sadie’s witnessed something awful when she was 16 I believe. Ever since she’s been broken and has been mourning. Just because she’s sad doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the fire! She’s amazing. I loved this novel. It was pretty interesting watching someone who’s been through so much fall in love with the most amazing guy ever. This isn’t a dirty steamy novel. This is a very intense romance novel. At times it made me want to cry for Sadie because what she’s having to deal with is a real issue many people face.

Hazel Kelly always knows how to write a good book and even though she doesn’t need to improve, with each book you can see how much her writing improves and you can see how much she grows as a writer. This time she has done another amazing job with this book and I love how deep she went with this one, it tugged at all my emotions and I could relate to the characters, but at the same time it hit me on a personal level. When an author does that, you know that they are doing an incredible job. Hazel always manages to surprise me in every way and this time was no different, she knows how to pull at the strings to my heart and she does it without any effort. I loved the story, the characters and how everything developed. I couldn’t find any fault with it and whilst a professor/student romance isn’t exactly ethical, you can’t help but find it pretty hot at the same time. I am excited to see what else Hazel can come up with because she is just incredible and I never get tired of reading her work. If you’ve not tried it yet, then you should seriously consider doing so.

Sadie has been through a world of pain, even though she’s smart and still has her life ahead of her, she can’t help but think that she doesn’t deserve happiness or to do well with life. She’s got her own mental health issues to deal with, but at the same time she’s in too deep with her own pain to realise that she needs help. With being so close to graduating, she’s also on the verge of being kicked out of University, but she’s got to find a way to stay as an upstanding student so that she’s able to complete the year. However, her year just got a lot interesting for her considering there’s a new professor taking over one of her classes, but she’s in for a shock when she realises who it is, as it’s the last person she expected to meet after throwing up a colourful rainbow all over their shoes…… She’s hoping to get through the year by scraping by, but will she be able to manage it?

"There was nothing safe about the way I wanted her."
This was a love at first sight kind of story, Sadie and Kellan met at a college frat party, he was the brother of her friend Carter and Sadie being a cousin to Carter's girlfriend Nina.
Sadie was struggling as a college student due to her family circumstances, and her own mental health kept her dressing in black and portraying a, "I don't give a damn attitude."
Kellan has gone through his own hell, and wasn't looking for, "The girl I was about to lose my mind over."
"Hell, for all I knew, she as a dangerous temptress sent by nefarious parties to make my life impossible."
"She amused me like a stick of dynamite would amuse me, which was to say I couldn't even think about anything else when she was in the room."
Excellent writing and dialogue made this book a pleasure to read and I really did feel for both these characters while they struggled with finding themselves in each other.
Only my second Hazel Kelly book and will not be my last.

"... I'm not the kind of girl that needs to be swept off her feet because I don't wear uncomfortable shoes."
Wow. Wow oh wow.
Let me just say that this book was many times darker than the previous two and I loved that. It was something I could automatically lose myself into and it brought the story to life in a way that didn't happen in the last two.
This book follows Sadie, who works at a bookstore and who loves black ALMOST as much as I do, and Kellan, a professor at her school who love science.
I connected with Sadie on a personal level in a way that I couldn't connect with the others. I loved her dark sense of humor and I could sometimes relate to some of her morbid thoughts about death.
I'm not going to lie, my favorite thing about this book were all the Carter cameos haha. Kellan is Carter's brother so we got to see him quite a bit.
I don't have much to say about this book except that it was a bit too cheesy for my taste. I put up with it though because I loved Sadie so much. She won me over almost immediately from the every first page and I can't wait to see what else this series has in store for us.

More issues than FB

If I wanted to be preached at about the environment and politics, I would've stayed on FB. For the record, the majority of cops are good.

This book doesn't have a lot of dialog between the long daydreams the characters have. They're in their own heads way too much.

When I read the blurb for Professor with Benefits, I knew that I needed to read it. The blurb screamed easy to read with hot sex scenes. After the month I have had, I needed something that I could enjoy and lose myself in. Fortunately, with Professor with Benefits, I was able to do that.

What I Liked About Professor with Benefits:

Sadie: She was introduced in Friends with Benefits as Nina’s older cousin. She caught my attention from the minute she was introduced in the book. When I saw that this was her romance, I was pleased. Her character in this book was nothing like I thought it would be. She had mental health issues stemming from the suicide of her younger sister. Her mental health became a focal point of the book. I loved seeing her transform from this damaged young woman who needed to be handled carefully to someone who was working on her issues.

Kellan: I liked him from the minute Sadie puked a rainbow all over his shoes. He had his issues. I loved that Kellan realized how fragile Sadie was. While he did push in some areas, he let her call the shots in their relationship. He understood Sadie’s grief and he understood her issues. I loved how smart he was too. He owned his nerdiness. That made him even more hot to me.

The author’s realistic take on mental illness and grief: Sadie was traumatized from her sister’s suicide. I believe that along with deep depression, she had PTSD. Sadie was self-medicating before she met Kellan. Her record at school reflected that. The author didn’t gloss over Sadie’s issues. Instead, she made them a part of who Sadie was.

The sex scenes: Sadie and Kellan’s sex scenes were some of the hottest that I have read to date. But, even before they had sex, their chemistry was off the charts. There were points in the book where I had to put it down and fan myself.

The end: I am not going to say much about the ending except that I loved how it turned out. The epilogue brought tears to my eyes.

What I Disliked About Professor with Benefits:

Sadie’s landlady: I couldn’t stand her. She was unlikable and treated Sadie like dirt. The whole “you need to leave as soon as possible” scene made me want to reach through and smack her upside the head.

Thomas’s dropped storyline: I was enjoying Sadie’s interactions with Thomas. He added a much-needed bit of humor to the storyline. But, he went poof after the bar fight. What happened to him?

Dean Schwartz: Another character that I couldn’t stand. She seemed to have it out for Sadie. The infractions that Sadie got in trouble for were silly. Except for the alcohol one. I also understood why she made Kellan make a choice. But still. She was cold and heartless.

Story 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5

Professor with Benefits is the third book in the Beta Brothers series and can be read as a standalone romance. Each book in the series focuses on a different brother in the Beta Fraternity house.  This one tells the story of Kellen, which is Carter’s (from book two) actual older brother. If you are like me and enjoy knowing the backstories, I suggest that you read the series from the beginning. Just know it’s a suggestion.

Kellen works at the college while he finishes his research in their lab. His brother suggests that he come to one last party at the Beta house before the school year begins. He meets Sadie, and even though he knows it’s wrong, Kellen flirts with her throughout the evening. He definitely didn’t expect to see her again, and especially not in the class that he’s teaching.

I have read a lot of student/teacher romances, and they often follow a similar storyline.  But not this one. I felt that Professor with Benefits was well written and I loved the banter between the characters. I really loved Sadie, and I think her issues added another layer to the story, which I really enjoyed.  It became more than just a student/teacher romance. It was also wickedly hot, and I definitely recommend you adding it to your TBR list!

Professor with Benefits is the 3rd book in the Beta Brothers series and can be read as a standalone, as I hadn’t read the previous 2 books, I was worried I wouldn’t know the characters; I didn’t need any other information than what was in front of me.

Kellan is a professor and is loving his research in their lab, teaching is not something he loves as much. Sadie’s record with the school was rocky and she was going into her senior year on very thin ice;
When he meets Sadie through his younger brother, he is taken back by her. Sadie not his typical woman but she has so many layers that once he starts peeling them back, he is willing to break all the rules to make sure he holds onto her.

While they both knew what they were doing could get them into some serious trouble their chemistry was undeniable pulling them together like magnets.

Kelly is a new to me author and I personally enjoyed reading this book, I have added books 1 & 2 to my TBR list because I really want to know more about this group. I look forward to reading more in the series.

Professor with Benefits is my first book by Hazel Kelly. I enjoyed this story enough to add Ms. Kelly to my list of authors to follow.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Kelly deals with the serious issue of mental health in a realistic and relatable manner. Sadie is suffering from the loss of a brother via suicide. It has an earth-shattering impact on Sadie as it does in any family. Questions of “how did I miss it” are whirling around in her head.

Sadie is suffering, but she is also fighting. I love the way she is developed throughout the story. She is suffering but never a tragic character. I love how the author tells so much about Sadie’s state-of-mind by her costume/dress. She uses dark clothes and makeup to hide the beauty within because she doesn’t feel beautiful. All it takes is a closer look, though, and her beauty shines through.

It definitely shines for Kellan Montgomery. He has an instant attraction to Sadie and sees something special in this young woman. He’s thrown for a ringer when Sadie shows up in his classroom. At this point, he knows that he shouldn’t act on his feelings. As we all know, it isn’t always easy to pull back when an attraction is pulling hard.

In addition to these two great characters, Ms. Kelly gives me a couple characters that make my blood boil. It is a major plus for me when an author can depict characters that I love to hate. When an author has me talking to the Kindle, it is a good story for me. There are also captivating support characters that I love. I’m sure these characters are a part of the series, I don’t know how she can let them go.

Professor with Benefits is the third book in the series. I suspect that there is some backstory presented in the previous books because of the relationships in this book are solid. I never felt out of the loop. However, I do plan to go back and read the other books. I recommend Professor with Benefits. I went into this book, with the misconception that I knew this story. If you do the same, you will be wrong. Hazel Kelly takes this taboo romance down a different path than many teacher-student books that I read. I like it a lot.

Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Professor With Benefits is book three in this series by Hazel Kelly. I have read book two, but not the first one.

It was great already knowing the characters and also get to read about the main characters from the previous books again. Sadie and Kellan tell the story in alternate chapters, which gave insight in both their minds and feelings. They meet at a frat party and they instantly click. Their connection is real and electric. That’s until they meet again in class, him being he professor.

Now things get complicated, but their chemistry seems to get stronger. We learn more about Sadie’s past and also more about his life.

The storyline seemed unrealistic to me and especially the ending was very rushed. There are some flirty, passionate and steamy scenes, but all in all I didn’t like how it all progressed.

The author’s writing is gripping and fresh. The spark just didn’t fly for me.

This book is fantastic! It’s so much more than a forbidden student/teacher romance. It’s thought provoking and intelligent as well as being hot and sexy.
Sadie and Kellan have suffered heartache and loss but in each other find so much more than just an attraction. But will they take the risk to find their HEA?
Professor With Benefits is book #3 in the brilliant Beta Brothers stand-alone series but it’s always great to know the previous characters from books #1 and #2 first.

“It was the only one that was all the colors. Just like you.”

This is a really cute story that I’m sure will have everyone falling in love. The banter between Kellan and Sadie was cute and playful. The way they connected was great and that scene in the rain... H.O.T!!! From the beginning, their chemistry was all consuming. If you're looking for a light-hearted read, then look no further! I’m sure Kellan can give you everything your little heart desires!

I've read every one of Hazel Kelly's books and I've loved them all but this is definitely one of my favourites. I loved Sadie and Kellans story and didn't want it to end. I would have happily devoured it in a day but wanted to make it last. The chemistry between them was electric and I loved the intelligent side of them both as well as the steamy stuff. Im sad it's over but excited for the next book!

3.5 Star Review

Hazel Kelly is a newer author for me. I have read the other books in this series and really enjoyed her writing style and story telling. I enjoyed this new book in the series. The storyline was good and I liked the characters. It just didn't spark for me like the previous books in the series. This one may not have worked for me but I am excited to read more by this author.

Went into this expecting a speedy little bit of semi-taboo smut with minimal plot and instead got a surprisingly sweet romance story with a lovely narrative and characters I loved

I was hooked from the beginnin till the end I couldn't wait to read Sadie's story. She had that mysterious side of her. You could feel the pain that Sadie was in. But during her darkest days Kellan was able to set her free. We watched Kellan and Sadie grow as individuals and as a couple. Professor with Benefits won't be easy on the heart so have some tissues nearby.

Great story. Really enjoyed the characters and how characters from previous books lives continued. This can be read as a standalone but is so much better if you have read the other books in the series.

This book is fabulous. It is an amazing story of an older man younger woman story. It is fast pace, well written and interesting – before you know it you are at the end wanting more.

We’ve all read Professor and student reads and that’s all good if that’s what you like. This one was a good read well written and all with some characters worth getting to know. She is almost done. Life has dealt her a few blows and she doesn’t do really well in dealing with it all. He’s not a full professor yet but is taking over some classes. They each have a lot to lose but the chemistry can’t be denied. It’s a good read that draws you in from the start and has a pretty good plot to go with it. Good choices war with common sense oh to be young again. These brothers are a pretty decent lot so it’s nice to see them get their girls and the girls who don’t make it too easy. If you’re looking for a passionate professor/student read look no further.

This is the 3rd book in the Beta Brothers series but can be read as a standalone. Kellan is a newly minted professor and Sadie, a university student with a lot of emotional baggage. At first, it was hard to like Sadie's character because clearly, she had issues and a tough, over-confident attitude on the exterior. As the story progressed, more of her character is uncovered. She is witty, charming and brainy. Her demeanor seems to be as dark as her black clothes and eyeliner she constantly wears but underneath is a caring and considerate person. Kellan took an instant liking to Sadie, even when she vomited on his shoes. When you know she's the One, you just know.

Hazel Kelly once again, does not disappoint. Her stories are realistic, her characters are relatable and she does not spare them from the worst scenarios that can, without question, happen in real life. She writes her characters' ruminations beautifully and with such eloquence that it moves the reader and makes her think. Hazel takes her time here in building Sadie's and Kellan's relationship and their sensitive mentalities. The build up towards the conflict is gradual and inevitable and a little too much. It was for me to think of a way out of the bind. All hope is not lost however. When a door shuts, another one opens. It may not be as good as the other but such is real life. A happy ending is guaranteed.

The supporting characters had their own book and if you want to get to know them, you will enjoy book 1 and 2.
