“This woman possessed some kind of magic over me that I couldn’t understand, but I never wanted to end.”

Billionaire CEO Alexander Wolfe has spent years putting in 120-hour weeks in the office and adding zeroes to his net worth. But lately, work has left him feeling burnt out and uninspired. Then he is given the chance to go head-to-head with a legendary corporate raider and the man he’d idolized his entire career. He seizes the opportunity, immediately jumping on a plane for Barbados to close the deal in person. If he’s successful, it’ll be the biggest win of his career.

He had no way of knowing that meeting a mesmerizing beauty would have the power to derail everything...

“Spending time with this man was easy but I had to force myself to remember that he was also actively trying to ruin my life. This would be a lot easier if he wasn’t so charming.”

Calypso Sterling has no time for men who value her beauty over her intellect. Instead, she focuses all her energy on her studies and career aspirations. But when her home—and a closely guarded family secret—is threatened, she’s ready to defend all she holds dear.

She had no way of knowing a handsome stranger had the power to take away everything she’d ever loved...

This standalone, workplace/ enemies to lovers romance features characters from Everything’s Better With Kimberly, is full of alphas and steam and has NO cheating.

This is the novelized, extended version of the previously published novella of the same name.

DNF at 45%.

I have a VERY low tolerance right now for plot points that stress me out. The fact that they are in a relationship and keeping secrets from each other makes me crazy. He is leaving the island in 4 hours and isn't telling her... I am not okay with that.

As always, I then read reviews and I see some crap coming I don't have the desire to live through... on to the next!

I read this for a collaborative project where another BookTuber picked my TBR! Check out the reading vlog here: https://youtu.be/fulfL7aE4vA

A sweet and steamy romance set in Barbados with some weightier thematic material, I thought this was an impressive indie romance and I would read more from the author. Alexander Wolfe is a billionaire CEO and corporate shark trying to push the owner of a high end Barbados resort to sell. While doing recon at the property, he meets a beautiful and mysterious woman. What he doesn't know, is she is the daughter of the owner.

I thought this was a beautiful romance that really worked for me. It deals with some more intense issues as well including the exoticizing of women of color, and so it can be a bit intense at times, but I really loved what the author did here and would definitely read more from her in the future.

3.5 stars Family, Love and Business don’t always mix well

I love stories that feature families who love each other and protect their legacies for future generations. Both main characters were legacy children trying to do right by their families business. I wonder if that’s why they fell so hard and fast for each other.

Callie was trying to show her dad that she was ready to be at the helm of the family’s hotel business while Alex was trying to buy the hotel from under them. They were enemies in business but kindred spirits in love. It made for a tense and sort of angsty read because I knew Callie and Alex would have to make some really hard choices.

The story flowed well and chemistry was palpable. These two had NO problem in the sex department just in the professional arena. I do wish it wasn’t insta-love because the physical part felt rushed.
Callie and Alex were likable characters so I was rooting for them to last.

The twist with the mom was both emotional and educational. It worked well within the love story. I’m glad I tried this book after hearing it from the audio in color Instagram. I really liked it.

Audiobook

Would I have loved this if I had read it with my eyes? Doubtful. It's very low conflict sweet and spicy contemporary. AKA: Not my jam 😅 But the dual narrators are excellent and leveled this up considerably.

Alex is a billionaire bent on buying up the luxury Barbados resort the FMC's parents own. It's insta-love lust as soon as they meet and he changes his mind. Loads of sexy scenes ensue and sweet banter. There is a sad plot thread regarding the FMC's parents but overall it's very low angst.

Wolfe Industries likes owning things so Alexander Wolfe's best friend and head of the real estate division, Matthew Widnicki has been buying up resort properties in Barbados on behalf of the company. There is one premium resort (The Sterling Beachfront Paradise) property owner that has been resistant to sale pitches no matter how enticing the price tag, so Alex flies down to close, The Closer. This exclusive resort is owned by Barnabus (and his wife Amelia) Sterling, a former corporate legend and shark in his time that mysteriously disappeared from the business world. A man that is an enigma and greatly admired by reputation, by Alex.

While playing a game of soccer, Alex encounters a woman with serious soccer skills of her own. He looks away and when he glances back, she's gone. Fate is kind, so he meets her again and they have a moment, but opt NOT to exchange names, her request. The moment runs its course, and they go their separate ways much to the disappointment of Alex.

Because life can be very ironic, Alex meets her again at the meeting set-up to discuss the potential sale of The Sterling. He learns her name is Calypso (Callie) Sterling, and she's the daughter of The Closer. Callie one ups Alex and his team by ingenuity and the meeting is concluded according to the terms of the agreement set forth. Matthew isn't happy about the outcome and Alex's thoughts are of Callie. After the meeting, Alex tracks her down in her office and they set a tentative future date, her rules, to go on a date.

The date is the turning point for them and Alex knows that what he feels for Callie is more important than anything that money can buy. But in his pursuit of happiness, Alex is neglecting his birthright and his duty as CEO of Wolfe Industries. So with Alex missing in action, Matthew takes the reins and acts on behalf of the company and its stakeholders to acquire The Sterling, without Alex's permission or knowledge. Matthew's actions creates havoc and erodes the burgeoning relationship Alex has with Callie. As a result, Alex makes a major decision, one that changes his destiny but is necessary to be the man he wants to be.

This review doesn't begin to touch the surface and depths of this story. It's actually a parallel love story between past, present and future love. It's beautifully told, and I greatly appreciated the author wanting to give her readers a satisfying and complete love story. I love this story from beginning to the very end.

Highly, highly Recommended. Read It!

Alexander Wolfe has been staying for a few weeks incognito at The Sterling, a luxury resort in Barbados. He's been trying to buy it for some time but the owner won't budge. While there as Mr. Underhill, he meets a beautiful and fascinating woman and is completely smitten. Much to his surprise, when he finally has a meeting with the owner, he finds out that she is his daughter. And she proceeds to hand his ass to him on platter, annihilating him in what he hoped would be a fruitful meeting.

He's never felt this way before and is willing to forego the buy to pursue a relationship with her. There seems to be very strong reason why The Sterlings won't part the resort (one he can't seem to find out), but he respects her wishes and backs down completely. As for his partner, not so much, and the couple's future together is put injeopardy.

This is a beautiful "island romance" and I fell in love with Calypso and Alex. The author also deals with some heavy subjects here: losing a spouse/parent to early onset Alzheimer's, and also how women of color are seen as "exotic", being either turned into sex objects or not being taken seriously at all. I really liked how the author dealt with these issues in the book. I'll definitely be reading more from her.

Narration: this is one of the @audioincolor audiobooks and I'm so happy it introduced me to a new wonderful narrator, Mari, who voices the feisty Calypso. Her partner is Jacob Morgan, who y'all know I'm basically a card-carrying stan for (joking..., just a regular SANE, unhinged fan lol). They both killed it with all the accents and kid voices, bringing the island to us. Highly recommend!

BTW: I loved the 25-year jump in the epilogue and the Spotify playlist at the end of the book. I suggest you download that first and read/listen to the book with an added soundtrack.

Possible Triggers: spouse/parent with Alzheimer's, women of color portrayed as "exotic"

Alex ticked the boxes for me, he is an absolute alpha and totally swoon worthy. The chemistry between them was steamy, their banter humorous and overall this was a joy to read.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Lucy Eden; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I will always love Lucy's covers. They are consistently beautiful and I feel all types of feels at being visually represented in Romancelandia.

I like this one A LOT. (Although my favorite so far is Everything's Better With Kimberly. If you haven't read it go buy it NOW)

There are so many emotional twists and turns between Alex and Callie. It's a sure fire roller coaster created to make you feel as the characters feel. So... if you're feeling slightly vulnerable you might want to hold off until you're ready to get in your feels. There's nothing super tragic folks but Lucy is gonna make you love her characters and hurt a little when they hurt.

No worries it's still a glorious HEA ending that will leave you feeling giddy for Alex and Callie's happiness. It's just a matter of how they get there. Be sure to join them with this wonderful read.

Heat Factor: It’ll get your heart racing…then swelling with sweet, sweet romance…then racing again. Just pretty much that, over and over again.

Character Chemistry: They’re really, truly adorable.

Plot: CEO travels to island paradise to meet his idol AND swing the deal of a lifetime and ends up pissing off said idol, biffing the whole deal, and falling head over heels in love instead. Challenged trust! Heart wrenching devotion! Feelings! Feelings!!

Overall: There’s absolutely nothing wrong with knowing how something is going to end when the ride is so enjoyable, and this one just is.

Two things are very clear by the end of the first chapter – you know how this is going to play out, and it doesn’t really matter that you do.

Alex and Callie fall in love hard and fast, and you kind of fall in love with them that way too. The thing is that ALL the characters are just genuinely likeable (except one, but that’s ok and I won’t spoil it for you) and the setting is relaxed and steamy and luxuriously aimless. Despite their obvious wealth and status, the author doesn’t spend a ton of time fixating on how wealthy they are – their lifestyles are relevant to the plot and she certainly peppers it with details, but she doesn’t lay it on too thick. So I felt like I could identify with these characters despite having almost nothing in common with them at all. There are layers of what love is in this book too – parents loving their kids, friends doing whatever they can to help, long-married people keeping the fires lit – so your heart just kind of swells with emotion on a near constant basis.

I started to feel like Callie was babied a little bit in a way that tickled my indignance–her dad is very old-fashioned and borders on treating her like a child which just didn’t mesh with the fact that she was obviously assertive and talented enough to get into Wharton and to succeed in a male-dominated field–but I was glad I suspended that judgment because it does make sense as things unfold.

This is a classic enemies-to-lovers and the trope holds true – so if you don’t like knowing the basic arc you may feel a little impatient. But if you’re a Happily-Ever-After chasing, gotta-have-those-tingles, big-gestures-make-you-weak-in-the-knees-type Smut Reader, you’ll really enjoy the ride of this one.

Lucy Eden, ‘Cherising the Goddess’ (Memories are Precious).

As an Hidden Gem ARC reader I received this book for free. And promised an honest review. Here it is. English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.

Rating: 4 stars (of 5).

In general: Enemies to lovers romance on Barbados.

Main characters:
- Calypso (Callie) Sterling.
Daughter of Barnabas Sterling. Owner of exclusive hotels. Famous for his social isolation. Keeping his distance from the media. He lives on Barbados where he owns the best holiday resort of the island.
Callie is an exotic beauty studying at Wharton University. Intelligent, ambitious and very social with many inhabitants of Barbados, the island where she was born and raised. She lives there again during her summer holidays.

- Alexander (Alex) Wolfe.
Billionare CEO of a chain of exclusive resorts in a lot of exotic vacation regions.
Alex visits Barbados to buy the Sterling resort. The owners refuse to sell. Alex’s firm tries to force the Sterlings, but in the negotiations Alex is outsmarted by Callie and her father.

Alex meets Callie shortly before the fatal negotiations not knowing who she is. He’s playing soccer with a little neighbour boy and sees her watching and handling the ball very well when it rolls against her feet. Next day he speaks with her in an elevator when she returns from the beach looking sad. He tries to comfort her; she reacts very emotional and that results in heavy petting. She refuses to tell him her name. Next day they meet again in the negotiations room and both are very surprised. And angry about the refusal of what the Sterlings consider as a hostile take-over. But Alex cannot forget the gorgeous and smart Callie and tries to meet her again. To stop his courting she agrees to a short, one-off date. But during this date there is a click and they meet again.
The author Lucy Eden describes how the enemies gradually become lovers in spite of the bad start and a few heavy complications, like mistrust, a family secret and not living in the same region. It results in an entertaining story with credible characters, some funny dialogues and hot scenes taking place on an exotic island. For me a pleasure to read this long novel, an extensive version of a previous published novella with the same name.

Cherishing the Goddess by Lucy Eden is a charming, seductive, and fabulous romance read for the summer.

Alexander (Alex) Wolfe is handsome, successful and a billionaire CEO looking for his next win. When an opportunity arises for the biggest acquisition of his career, he travels to Barbados to go head-to-head with a corporate raider and close the deal in person. He’s absolutely prepared for everything… or so he thought.

Calypso (Callie) Sterling is beautiful, alluring and intelligent. She’s a force to be reckoned with and she’s come home to defend everything and everyone she loves. But when she meets Alexander, she can’t help being drawn to him. Callie knows the danger in falling for a man like Alexander, but can she resist him?

Alex surely never prepared to fall for a woman like Callie, but he’s absolutely fascinated by her. She may say no to him, but he’s incredibly persistent and will stop at nothing to get what he wants and desires.

I’ve never read anything by this author before, but while I wasn’t going crazy over the story, I thought it was surprisingly really entertaining. I really liked the writing style and thought Eden does wonderfully in luring me in and getting me hooked right from the start. The plot is nicely paced and engaging enough to keep me interested until the end. I liked the characters and thought they were charming in their own ways. The chemistry between Alexander and Callie had me swooning and their sexy moments are absolutely steamy. I thought they were amazing together and I enjoyed their playful bantering. There are a few bumps in their relationship, some conflict, tension, and family drama that definitely challenged Alex and Callie so that was really interesting to read about. I was happy with the ending and overall this story was a lovely read.

This book is a quick, fun, and romantic read. I liked that it was hilarious, sweet, emotional, and sexy. Definitely perfect for romance fans!

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher and Inkslinger Book Tours in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is more of a 3.5 star read because I'm not a fan of insta-love, and this book relies heavily on that trope.

“Does your brain have an off switch or is everything open for negotiation?”
“I could ask you the same question,” I replied causing the corners of her full, soft lips to quirk into a small smile.

I loved Callie. She's strong, smart, resourceful and devoted to her family. I had a harder time with Alex. His entire life revolves around work, and then as soon as he meets Callie, he drops everything - literally everything - for her. It was weird and for a long time I couldn't understand what Callie saw in him. Luckily, there was a lot else to distract me. I loved all the descriptions of Barbados: the flying fish, the food, the sightseeing that Callie and Alex did. Callie's family was amazing, and I moved by the reason behind Callie's selfies and her "memories are precious" attitude. Callie's biracial, and I liked that Alex's whiteness was specifically addressed by Callie and her family.

It did feel a bit like a traditional category romance. The main part of the book ends with

Overall, even with a disliked trope, this was pretty enjoyable and I'll definitely be picking up more books by this author.

Smart, steamy, and emotional

Sometimes you spend so much time and effort pursuing something that you neglect to think about whether it’s what you really want. As it happens, this is the case for both Alexander Wolfe, a successful, if not overworked CEO pursuing his next big acquisition, and Calypso Sterling, a fiery and intelligent young woman on the cusp of, well, pretty much whatever she wants to do. But when you meet someone who challenges you, who forces you to really think about your life, it’s hard to fight that kind of pull.

Each has their own stumbling blocks, and there is no lack of conflict, making their romance far from simple. Meddling business partners, disapproving fathers, misunderstandings, and secrets. Alex and Callie are so good together, if only they can overcome these not inconsiderable obstacles to find their happily ever after. With smart, witty banter, steamy goodness, and emotional highs and lows, this is a story of their journey to do just that. And you won’t be disappointed.

This is a fairly NEW to me author & books! The blurb on this is what caught my eye right away!! Happy to have gotten an ARC, because this story was something different.

Smooth talking billionaire CEO Alexander Wolfe has a strange encounter during a rather unfortunate surrounding. When he sees her he is surrounded by his little buddy and her mother who is married, but definitely interested. When the opportunity presents itself for them two to actually meet, he know Calypso Sterling was ALSO looking. Now let the fun begin!

Calypso's heart keeps fluttering every time she sees him, but nothing can me! No! but then the elevator incident *smirk* After that things kind of jumble, but what I will always remember is how Alexander may be rich and powerful he is beyond swoon worthy and romantic, not to mention sexy!!

What a beautiful and easy to read story! Lot's of action, scandal, romance and heart!!

Fun & Sweet With Some Spice Blended In

What a beautiful story of love and loss and triumph in friendship, love and business.

This story was powerful and beautiful and so hard to put down!

Alex came to the island of Barbados to meet with Barnabas Sterling with the intent of getting him to sell The Sterling Resort. Before that meeting could take place Alex met a girl and became entranced with her. He later fell in love with her and found the missing piece to his soul.

I loved the side play of Alex and Matt fighting and making up. (For something really awful Matt did) It took Matt seeing Alex totally break down to come to his senses that he had changed. He went to see Callie and apologized profusely which was out of character for him.

We find out in the epilogue that he found his own woman not too much time after Matt and Callie reconnected and I’m sure she keeps him on his toes too lol

Fell flat (slight spoiler)

1.5 stars ⭐️

Had a hard time connecting with this book. Didn’t feel the chemistry between the main characters.

The offenses of the best friend are crazy. Overstepping his bounds first as an employee going over the CEOS head after he said to not pursue the acquisition and then to blackmail him and the girl for said acquisition all to be rewarded the company being handed over to him plus other things. Major side eye. Red flags abound.

That friendship would be over. That’s not the kinda thing a few punches and a flimsy apology can make up for what he did. That wasn’t a small mistake. And then to say that’s still your bff and expect your girl to be comfortable around this person amongst other things. Yeah no.

Lucy Eden.. Queen of steam and one of my favorite new writers. I really like her writing style. She has a way of telling a story and drawing you in

Her latest release is Cherishing the Goddess. It was originally written as a novella and has now been rewritten into a full length novel.
Calypso and Alexander were amazing together. Their journey wasn’t easy or perfect, but their chemistry and love for one another was undeniable

The writing was excellent, the plot engaging, and the characters were unforgettable. It was funny, it was emotional and it was sexy as hell.

The book was absolutely fantastic and would make the perfect summer read.

To say that Cherishing the Goddess is a superb steamy blast of fun would be to fairly describe it. This standalone workplace romance is a perfect enemies to lovers tale. I loved Calypso and Alexander story. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

Calypso and Alexander help Lucy Eden cast a spell. There are moments when, Cherishing the Goddess seems like an otherworldly experiment. The heart wants to believe what the mind refuses to behold. Then there are other times when the mind leaps ahead of the heart and gives it's own spin to the drama that is unfolding. Eden proves herself to be a masterful storyteller.
