Brodie Duncan expected to be taking a week-long Alaskan cruise with his girlfriend. But when she ended their relationship just moments before boarding, he ended up on the ship alone. Determined to make the best of a bad situation, Brodie considers a no-strings-attached fling. What he didn't bargain for was a man as appealing as Julian Richards. Trapped in his own bad relationship with a selfish woman he was starting to resent, the charismatic Julian is shocked by his reaction to tall, dark, and handsome Brodie. Instantly attracted to each other, the men create enough heat on their trip to the Inside Passage to melt the Glaciers in the bay. In the end, on a vacation full of surprises, Julian and Brodie discover that not only do they have strong feelings for one another, by Cruising they just might have found their soul mates.

It's amazing how tastes change over time. When I was a kid my grandmother would make salmon croquettes and I ate those things like they were Scooby Snacks. I haven't had them in years so decided to make them recently. Did everything exactly like she did and was so excited. Until I took the first bite. Blech! What in the heck happened? I called my mom to make sure I wasn't making them wrong. Nope. I just don't like them anymore. And when I was rereading Cruising I thought, Good Grief! I kinda sorta remembered liking this when I first read it years ago. If M/M books are mostly read by women, why in the world would a woman author make ninety percent of the women in her book so awful? I mean, really. Nuanced is a dirty word to G.A. Hauser it seems. Hitler would come off as warm and fuzzy compared to the girlfriends in this book. It's so disappointing because the bones of a good story are there.

Not at all based in reality, but and sweet all the same

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 6/10

PROS:
- Great premise. Who hasn’t wished at some point or another that he (or she) might meet a hot guy/girl on a cruise ship, have a mad, passionate fling, and then discover that the person lives just down the street and wants to live happily ever after?
- The first sex scene (until it gets going, anyway…see cons below) is deliciously tentative and sweet. And all of the sex is fairly emotional because the guys fall for each other fast and hard.
- Some sweet, if one-dimensional and entirely fluffy, secondary characters who support Brodie and Julian when their relationship becomes public knowledge.
- Lovely ending. Most of the ducks are in a nice, neat little row, and those that aren’t are waddling their way toward the row just swimmingly. It’s almost saccharine, in fact, but I’m not going to lie and say that I didn’t enjoy the story’s conclusion.

CONS:
- The decision to experiment with someone of the same sex occurs quite suddenly, not just for one character, but for both of them. Hauser does provide a few “he had thought about it before” moments to ground us just a LITTLE bit in the realm of reality. But neither of these characters has ever even kissed another man, and within 45 pages, they’re acting like seasoned gay sex pros; and within 80 (timewise, this is approximately 24 hours), they’re running the gamut of gay sex positions, neither one with a care in the world (or with any pain upon penetration).
- The two main female characters are horrendous. One of them isn’t actually present much in the book--she dumps Brodie at the beginning and we simply hear things about her from then on--but the other one is more vengeful and disgusting than almost any other character I’ve encountered in this genre. And my main complaint isn’t even that she’s terribly one-dimensional (though she is--evil, evil, and more evil); it’s that she shows moments of compassion that make the reader think, “There. She’s not SO bad,” but then she immediately goes back on them, which makes those human moments seem contrived and out of place.

Overall comments: More than just about any other m/m romance I’ve read, this one is VERY obviously written by a woman and targeted toward women readers. The men are sweeter and more romantic and more sentimental than any man I’ve ever met, gay or straight. But the story, as a result, is sweet and romantic and sentimental, so if you like that sort of thing, you should give this a try.

Brodie is dumped literally minutes after he boards a cruise ship and leaves him to it alone. Julian is on the cruise with a witchy girlfriend who makes his life hell. Instant attraction between Brodie and Julian though neither has ever been with another man before.

A lot of reviewers have complained about how most of the women are portrayed. Amelia, for one. She is Julian's girlfriend. Yes, she is a total bitch. But seriously... how would the story have been had she been all warm and fuzzy and accepting? There would not have been much of a story. She made it interesting. Not to mention that if Amelia was this wonderful woman the cheating angle would have had me stop reading it immediately. It was much easier to accept with Amelia being such a bitch. I'm not saying it is RIGHT, just that I could read it without getting all angry because of the way Amelia was. And then there is Melanie, Brodie's absent girlfriend. Had she NOT been the way she was Brodie would not have been left alone on the cruise. I actually had no problem with either character. Amelia was comic relief for me though I don't think she was meant to be written that way. Also, I read A LOT and most of the books that I have personally read have the women all sweet and accepting and blah, blah, blah. It was good to see them in a different light for a change. Yes, I'm female and no, I would not want every book I read to have women written like this but this was perfect for this particular story, in my opinion.

Now to the actual story. I really liked it BUT...... for two guys who have never had sex with men before Brodie and Julian are going at it constantly. Granted, that is the point of the book but still. It got tiring after awhile. I agree with one reviewer who made the comment that there are simply too many details in some places. The running thing was described in detail. Their breakfast, lunch and dinner and each drink each man had during the entire cruise were described in detail. The clothes they wore, also described in detail. It also got tiring after awhile though I did not let it detract with how I felt about the story.

I enjoyed watching Brodie and Julian get to know each other. Their instant attraction was pretty hot. The insta-love thing was a little much but after awhile it didn't seem like it had only been a few days. Overall, a good love story. Just a good story in general.

I liked it.
Fun story, although the plot's a little simplistic, but enjoyable. I didn't get why Julian just didn't give Amelia a good kick and say 'it's over', but I guess that was moving plot forward, so okay xD
And I'd like to see a little epilogue about their life together!

Oh dear, what a let down.
I know they were stuck on a cruise ship but it was just so repetitive.
Also both of the men were gay sex virgins, yet everything was wonderful without any prep. More PWP Im afraid.

Wow this is certainly one that's not lacking chemistry and heat for the characters. Ms Hauser has brought Brodie and Julian together, their feelings they go through thinking of the labels and possibles of outing to their families. Yip if they locked eyes again the ship would catch fire.. if Julian's girlfriend stopped blocking them. emotions wow for both straight men..But the chemistry if off the charts for this couple even with Julian's troubles with his girlfriend.
Brodie wanted to please his girlfriend by going on a cruise ship. But at the last second she walks of the ship leaving on-board alone. Brodie hasn't had any luck with the females and wondered if he was wasting time with them. Brodie's eye's bulged when a gorgeous man come on-board but accompanied with a lady. Julian was at the dining table when he caught eyes with Brodie had his body reacting instantly. Hiding his reaction he tried to concentrate on his girl beside him. lol no such luck..
A fantastic book by Ms Hauser.

If not for the fact that I know she is a woman, reading this book by G.A. Hauser I would suspect on her... never as before women have a very bad role; luckily in the end a couple of mid forthy representative of my sex save us for the posterity.

Brodie is a 28 years old guy with a very bad taste in women. He has a past history of dating bimbos, the last of whom has dumped him the very day on which they have to go on cruise; worst, she feigned to go on board, only to run away at last minute leaving him trapped on the ship alone. After a first moment of rage, Brodie thinks better on his situation and realizes that maybe he is not so afraid; actually this last bad experience is only one more proof that he is not really interested in women... and maybe the fact that his best friend is gay (little clue) and that he can get excite only thinking to men (very big clue) can push him to try something different...

The first night he meets Julian, a guy almost in his same situation, but he was not so lucky as him; his girlfriend didn't left him and now she is bitching and making him miserable. A swap of glares and Brodie and Julian are soul mates and eager to find how good they can be together. There is only the little problem of Julian's girlfriend on the same ship and the fact that neither one of them had any experience with men before.

Brodie and Julian are not irreproachable characters; as in the past the caustic style of G.A. Hauser describes two men who first of all want to enjoy themself and their life and maybe after that can consider that they live among other people and that maybe they need to consider also other people feelings. The fact that the "other" is a nasty bitch doesn't justify the fact that Julian was the first to cheat and that he never once admit his fault, on the contrary, he almost has the gut to make pass his cheating as a right reaction to his girlfriend's behavior.

So why I, that usually can't suffer a cheating man, instead liked Julian, and almost cheered when Brodie tries to convince Julian to give his girlfriend a bad time? Probably it's the total frankness in their behavior, the fact that they don't hide behind a perfect and cold facade. Actually G.A. Hauser's main characters usually are those men that in other "classical" romance take the supporting role, those men who aren't enough perfect to be the hero; they are best friend and brother, work colleague of fellow student, but never the protagonists. And in her books they take their vengeance, being leading roles without losing their faultiness.

And then there is the sex. They make out like bunnies, without any concept of boundaries or physical limits... in particular in this book, Brodie and Julian are like children with a new toy and they play till exhaustion and beyond. Is it possible? I don't know but for sure I'd like to find out!

I know that there are a few out there that will disagree with my 5 star rating...but that's just how much I enjoyed this book. It's simple really...My favorite thing in the world to do when I have time off from work? Cruising. My favorite place to be & where I'm most content? At sea. My favorite aspect of life at sea? The complete lack of daily stressors, decisions, chores, errands and expectations from others...

In life on a cruiseship, when I wake up in the morning the most pressing issue is breakfast. Should I get the 5 star service downstairs in the formal dining room? Browse the buffet and select from made-to-order omelets, fresh fruit and pastries & dine out on the open deck, watching the Atlantic go by? Or maybe I'll just have my food and coffee delivered to my stateroom and enjoy a luxurious breakfast in bed...Hmmm...After breakfast, do I go play the slot machines, get a deep tissue massage, relax under the waterfall in the adults-only saltwater pool or enjoy a hedonistic smoke while lounging on an overstuffed leather chaise in the upscale cigar bar? Decisions, decisions.

One thing I can guarantee you, nomatter what each cruise day brings, I will be spending at least 50% of it with my Nook in my lap, reading hot M/M romances that feature beautiful men doing very naughty things to one another...

Alas, I have to wait until January to embark on my 20th cruise. In the meantime, if I can't go on a cruise and read a book with some hot man-on-man action, I can at least read a book about men that go on a cruise and get some hot man-on-man action.

Ahhh, this was like a mini-mental vacation. Yummy.

Every woman in this book is portrayed like a shrewish bitch or an unattractive flirt. There are odd jumps between the characters deciding it's okay to be gay and then switching back to "protecting their rep". In the most glaring, Brodie, who hates women despite being a "womanizer" (most of the negative portrayal of women come in his POV; Julian reserves his negativity for his girlfriend but gets along with other women), thinks fondly about his gay best friend and how he could experiment with men and then a few pages later thinks that he doesn't want to be "a fag". Julian, his paramour, is a genuinely good guy who puts up with Brodie's mood swings and selfishness, despite being at the end of his rope with his similar girlfriend. I had to wonder why Julian would go from one person with that personality to another. Also hard to take for me was that both men could be so naive as to think that no one on the huge cruise would be okay with their relationship. I was not okay with Julian cheating on his girlfriend. He should have broken up with her first. Instead, he lets her take the blame for the break up. However, any pity we might have felt for her disappears because moments later she is (of course) portrayed as homophobic and shrill. As for Brodie, he's dumped in the opening pages by the girlfriend he clearly despises. Seeing how he views women as the book progresses, it's hard to take his view of her as a bitch is the truth. I think she was the smartest person in the book for taking off. I'm on the fence between cheering for Brodie and Julian and not.

Brodie and Julian are both stuck on an Alaskan cruise. Brodie has just been ditched by his girlfriend. Julian, unfortunately, is stuck with his. Brodie decides to use this opportunity to experience things he's been too afraid to consider before - acting on his curiosity about men. Brodie catches Julian's eye and the attraction sparks HOT.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really wanted to like it. It had all the ingredients I normally enjoy in my m/m erotica reads. There are two major flaws with this book IMO. First, ALL the female characters in this book (except the moms at the very end) are portrayed as hideously bitchy, nasty or just plain dumb. Second, it felt like the author tried to stretch the book out by filling endless pages with very mundane, uninteresting stuff such as the men working out, getting a drink or bite to eat. This book had so much missed potential. For those that enjoy a spicy read this is not a bad one but you'll need to skip through to the good parts.

Oh this was a good one, even better than the first in the Men in Motion series. The intimate areas were a lot more believable in my opinion.

I'm not one for cheating but based on how Amelia was I can understand in part how Julian could hop on the Brodie train (or in this case boat!). Brodie was so sweet and I felt so bad that his trip started out the way it did but he got Julian out of it so it worked out well in the end.

I felt the storyline flowed nicely and that even though there was quite a bit of sex that there was more than enough story as well. I liked that even though they sometimes got their feelings hurt that they didn't just walk off from each other and stew on it. Instead they each made the other open up about what was going on so they could work it out.

I loved the cast of characters, they were a nice addition to the love story unfolding around them.

What can I say/write about this book? Well, not much.
Hero meets hero, they "click" and 'voila!'. Insta love, insta lust, everything is rushed to the point of absurdity. Sex? Yeah, lot of it. I lost count how many sex scenes were in this story.
Don't forget about the ex-girlfriends... Why does every woman in the books of this author have to be so dumb? No idea.
Oh! You can read about Polish guy in that novella, but it's not a positive accent. Close-minded and bigoted. Definitely not good. What can I help, those kind of people can be found all over the world.

Why 2 stars? Cause I'm in good mood :P

Siiiiiiiiiigh. I gave this five stars because It had everything I was looking for in a quick read. Wonderful MC's. A good story line. Bitchy villains. Supportive parents. And, steaming hot sex. I loved loved loved this. I mean, he ate chocolate off the other's crotch. If that doesn't say five stars, I dunno what does. Definitely recommend.

Neither Brodie nor Julian were sexy. They came across as very average guys with average looks and personalities. I didn't feel the chemistry between the two, either, but then, I'd already decided within the first chapter that these two were blah, so...
