When Andrew Mulroney, a brilliant designer of Algorithm Software used in stock market trading, overhears two Chinese interns discussing a potential virus that will be embedded in the software his company designs, he is murdered by the Chinese in a fake hit-and-run accident His uncle, John Mulroney, the President's Chief-of-Staff, sends his top security team of Jake Harrigan, an ex-CIA 'Black-Ops' Assassin and his wife Sarah, an ex-FBI Agent, to investigate the so-called accident. They realize it was murder and with the help of a top NSA Analyst, they discover a major cyber-attack being planned by the Chinese, headed by a hacking genius referred to as 'The Algorithm Man'. Their ominous plans are to embed an untraceable computer virus in the Algorithms of the computers of thousands of stock traders Worldwide. Jake and Sarah are in uncharted territory in the high-tech world of computer hacking. They realize that Algorithms are inserted into the computers of stock traders to monitor market trends on shares using predetermined parameters. The Algorithm then automatically carries out buy or sell trades at nano-speeds when pre-determined market trends are detected, all without human input. Unaware exactly what the virus will do and when it will be launched, the American IT Specialists struggle to come up with countermeasures, as Jake and Sarah head to China where, in the cold winter in Beijing, they race against time to avoid global economic Armageddon.
