Darkness descends upon the elven realm and the only thing Kealin cares about is saving his family... but is he powerful enough to save them all?
With his father gone to war...
...and his mother in hiding...
...Kealin must make a decision.
Should he stay and train to defend their Elven land, like his father asked, or head out into the icy waters to try to change fate?
Kealin's choice will set him on a path like none other. Beginning with a voyage across the icy seas with his three siblings, he discovers a power within himself that is not elven at all. It is older, darker, and could be a danger to everyone around him.
Has everything he has been told been a lie?
From a harrowing journey across the frozen North, to enslavement, the riddles of an all-seeing seer, and a battle to decide the future of the elves of the West, an adventure like no other awaits. Kealin searches for his lost family, gaining unforgettable allies like a duo of thieves, wizards, a rebel elven warlord, and even a narwhal companion. But there is something greater hidden within Kealin's journey and that truth might destroy him and everyone he cares about.

Embrace the adventures readers have compared to R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden and the Forgotten Realms world!
Overall rating: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 ~ couldn't-put-it-down great
Overall, a great beginning to the series! I loved following Kealin on his adventures and meeting so many new and interesting characters along the way! The battle scenes are epic and I can't wait to discover more about Kealin's powers in the second half of the series!
Nearly a full week late but...guess what I finished reading! Have any of you read R.A. Salvatore's books? In my mind they're part of a must have collection of epic fantasy novels. The Rogue Elf of Urlas by J.T. Williams may not be a Salvatore masterpiece but it is definitely reaching for that pinnacle! The reader is immediately caught up in the winds of fate that are the nonstop jawdropping journey and adventures of Kealin. There are a mindspinning number of other characters and hidden layers but the author never leaves the reader feeling confused. Shocked and surprised however do become constant companions. So much so that I might be an adrenaline junkie now! Love it!!
Get ready for an adventure--this one just blew me away! The style of the writing reminded me of the Warcraft books, particularly Richard A. Knaak (one of my favorite fantasy authors). I love that he brings back Valrin, even though he is not the main character in this one. But I might even like Kealin better! I loved the imagery surrounding Vankou--that scene was probably my favorite! The story of the elves is just unfolding with so many mysteries and unknowns...
JT Williams is such a master storyteller!! The adventures these characters go on is mind blowing! I never want them to end!! And gladiator battles? Hell yes! And what an ending! Completely locked in this world and cannot wait to see what he comes up with next!
If you like Richard Knaak, Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, and Jeff Wheeler, you're going to love this adventure!
Ok first off if you have never read J.T. Williams you are definitely missing out on an amazingly talented author who you need to read now . Now just go ahead and prepare yourself before you start this boxed set , first off make sure you don't have anything else to do because these books are almost unputdownable , no housework will be done lol . The world building is excellent and the characters are well developed and fleshed out , the battle scenes are awesome and the ride is so worth it . The story draws you along and before you even realise it your up way past your bedtime and your still going to keep reading. So do yourself a favor and start this series you will not be disappointed maybe tired from no sleep but definitely not disappointed . 😁😁😁😁
I read the R.A. Salvatore's books about Drizzt Do'Urden and sorry this does not match up to him. I feel the story has a bit LOTR in it with one person trying for power. The ending I though was a little rushed and I think the whole lot could have been wrapped up in the trilogy and not make us have to read another one to see what happens next. The only reason I bought it was because it was cheap and for a change to read some fantasy but it did not hold my attention. If I read the next set I will borrow it for my Kindle
This series took a long time to win me over! At first, it felt quite grim, and the writing was a little choppy. However, the battle sequences are epic. The execution of those sections is wonderful: evocative, high-stakes, and inventive, with a few gory details that really stick with you. In the end, I was very glad I'd read it.
Wow what a series! A definite recommended read. The detail of the world is amazing from the sea, desert and woods. Even when you are alone there will be someone who helps in a time of need in the book. So many dead in battling the evil. Very descriptive battle scenes.
I loved these books and I'm sorry to see so many of the characters die. But like a Gemmel novel they did well. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure. I look forward to more from this series 😁
I suppose this would've been better with a tightening up on the editing. I didn't care for the slips of foul language that added a absolutely nothing to the tale.
I don't know if the author thinks he's invented a way of Elvish speak or if its just dreadful English I only managed a few pages and gave up Some of the sentences don't make sense
This is a Trilogy of two halves book 1 is quite something to get through But it is worth while books 2 & 3 make the trilogy a gripping tale and I look forward to the relief the second trilogy
Good book at a great value. What a world you find yourself in. The twist and turns keep coming. You can not take anything for granted. The plot takes you in many different directions, but it always seems to smoothly flow back together. A lot of action and fighting.
Great characters, excellent plot development, and awesome battle scenes! Join Kealin the Half-Elf of Urlas on his first few adventures in this box set!
Engrossing. Exciting. Capturing. Very good read. Second time through and still want more. I highly recommend this series for those that like adventure.
This set is the edited versions of the original books, and it’s obvious a lot of work went into them. Book 1 is cleaned up compared to the original release. I still find that book 1 has a lot of story crammed into 1 book, but it’s definitely a good read.
Book 2 is my favorite. I liked the pace of the book, the character development, and the new characters introduced. Definitely a fun book to read, I barely put it down start to finish.
Book 3 was good but not my favorite. The beginning is a bit tough, there are a LOT of characters introduced in a short time, and I had a hard time sometimes remembering who was who. But the story came together and th3 end was pretty amazing.
Ok wow!! I finished the first book in this set, Half Bloods Rising, and oh my gosh it was intense! It was absolutely amazing! I loved all the characters! I have never read a book with so much out of this world awesomeness. The author made me feel like nothing else mattered but reading this book! I was completely drawn in from the very 1st page and the ending was so intense I cannot even describe it. I cannot wait to dive into the next book in this set. If you love all things fantasy then you absolutely have to read this book. Oh and Kealin is definitely my favorite character!
*I will add to this review as I get the other 2 books read*
This is not a book I would have normally picked up but I'm glad I did. I love the combination of elves, magic and mythical gods. The cover/title gave me the impression that it was going to be a race take over type war book, but it's not that at all. Much more of a questing, journey to save the world type book. The world building is well laid out, and I loved the use of so many different intelligent beings/creatures. (100% here for the narwhals). I can't wait read the next books in this world!
