Our priorities in education must change. Educating the mind is simply not enough. If we want students to achieve at high levels we must make relationship building our first priority. If we want students to be interested in their learning we must first show interest in them. This book takes you on a journey to see education with a different set of eyes. The book offers a practical approach to education that does not surround itself in curriculum, rather centers itself within the hearts and minds of the people that read it.
Chapter 5 🙌🙌🙌🙌 "How many passions and dreams are crushed each day because we expect our students to mirror information regurgitating smartphones instead of people? And at what point are students supposed to feel valued for who they are (not how they perform) when we don't allow ourselves to learn from them, celebrate their dreams, and support them in healthy risk taking?"
Favorite quote: “The pursuit of educational success is about equipping each student to discover their and realize their dreams.” I enjoyed this book as years ago I pursued a teaching degree and currently help teach religious education to children at my local parish. It was inspiring and easily read. Other than a few spelling errors, I really liked this book and the writing.
Super fast and easy book to read, took about one hour to read it but some of the quotes will stay with me for a long time. Speaks to so much of what I’m feeling about education.
