After receiving a mysterious message from a famous Proxima developer, Chase Knowles takes a step toward an incredible future. With an important tournament coming up, everything seems to be working in his favor.
But there are other forces at play, even if some of those forces are internal.
Wanting more from his relationship with Lady C., Chase goes to extreme lengths to bring her digital form to New York City through an android shell. Meanwhile, Iris takes over the dojo and focuses on the tournament, hoping to continue their winning streak. After a concert in Kingdom Ignis, their team is begrudgingly joined by a goblin from a famous guild known as the Mitherfickers, a member who may prove to be useful in the coming tournament.
A new opportunity arises once Chase learns of a rare mythcrea club, but joining won't be as easy as it sounds...
The illegal Monster Hunt App continues to change the course of Chase's life, but it also forces him to make important decisions, several of which could come back to haunt him.

Ok I loved this book and really enjoyed how the author worked to make me feel excited about the story. So of course the bard wants to sleep with everything. The MC continues to grow but also make stupid mistakes that you would expect from a young man. The characters are getting more depth and development and I really enjoyed the progression of the plot. Overall I am really looking forward to reading more of this series.
This book we lost sight of what made book 1 and 2 great. MC gets a windfall of cash and by time he has motivation to do anything fun half the book is over. Best part was last chapter, but then the book just ended, no climatic ending, just fell off. Disappointing, this book felt half written. As for Hickup showing up in the book, i could have done without him. It is a dumb and annoying character and only adds filler nonsense to the book that i skip over. Book 1 and 2 are great in the series, this one, meh, start at the 50% mark and skip any Goblin scenes. Leaves you with about 30% of actual content.
This is one of the funniest books I have ever read. So, please don't be tempted to read it in bed with your sleeping husband next to you. It's a real struggle to gag your giggle whilst trying to stop the bed from shaking... Be warned.
The crossovers with Cooper's various other series are just fantastic, as they fit in perfectly, and they are so beautifully done (and emotional - it can't be just me, surely?). It's like reading a cozy comforting blanket with a surprise gift inside. There's also the appearance of a guest star that I'm guessing most of the readers will recognise. A certain goblin? Love or hate him (I love him!), he's a force to be reckoned with, but NEVER underestimate him. On this occasion he is needed by our Monster Hunt team. Yes, needed.
As Hiccup himself would probably say, this is a ferocious fight and fun-ficked frolic, fick-tastically facilitated by the fick-tionist, Cooper.
The author writes really well, he hooks you right from the first page, and you've no idea where the story is going next. When you add Hiccup to the mix, of course, any of the characters could end up anywhere, upside down, and probably covered in pepper wing sauce.
Wonderful. Don't miss it.
I chose to receive a copy of this book, which I voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.
The hunt returns as new monsters, new tournaments and the return of some old faces from Coopers other Proxima Galaxy series gives a great boost to the humour. There is a nice weave of a lot of previous series in this book and for those fans who have read these then they will love it. For those who haven't then their curiosity will be peaked either way I loved this book
This is probably the most fun and silliest of Harmon Cooper's books/series. I love it for that. I need light, fun, silly stories. The world gets grim some days and Harmon Cooper 's type of weird is great to chase the grim away. And bringing a monster from Dogma? That and Hiccup made my day. And using music to fight with seriously rocked. Get some monster Hunter NYC today. I want a monster hunter app.
I really enjoyed this series so far, plz cont I need to know if mc and his partner get together finally. They have been dancing back and forth to long to just end. He like her and she likes him, not sure why it hasn't gotten any further than kisses. Him and lady c is cool but I believe his truest friend and love is his co alpha partner.
First off, the production is fantastic. Everything you would expect from SBT. As for the book, Harmon Cooper is a fantastic author and largely does an amazing job at building out the proxima universe, character development, and plot shenanigans. This book was just a little too cringy with the young adult love triangle drama. Not a deal breaker, but meh.
This book continues our heros’ journey. New tournaments and new monsters. It takes an interesting look at the society of the era. I think it was well done and I look forward to the 4th installation
I really like the series and wish the author would write more. This is an interesting work that ties in his other world's. There are many adventures that Chase and Iris could go on. Please continue the series.
Liked House of Dolls. Loved CBG. But Monster Hunt NYC is way cool. Loved the virtual world the protagonist and sidekick(s) travel in and the INSANE cast of characters. I truly hope this author decides to extend this story further - I think it’s one of his best!
Monster Hunt NYC by Harmon Cooper is just a fun read. The characters are entertaining, the Goblins a riot, the woman warriors sexy and deadly. The novel is just an entertaining read.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but it is a very entertaining story. I may be biased due to my own love of games, but the book is written very well. Good mix of action, amd.humor.
I really enjoy the series and the back and forth between the game world and the real world. I look forward to seeing what else the author comes up with
Easy to read like the other two has tie ins to his other books. No spoilers I hope he puts together more of these in the future. Reminded me a lot of the Loop series, similar narrrative.
While the story was still decent, it almost seemed to steer completely away from what made Monster Hunt NYC so interesting. After Chase is "rewarded" for his journey, the story becomes as laxxed as Chase does.
The tournaments and hunts are still enjoyable to read, but they become an after-thought to another trial that presents itself "unethical love". It feels like this book needed to have a sequel, so it would be a new chapter to a broader story, rather than an ending that brought as little fulfillment as it did closure.
Book three of Monster Hunt NYC delivers a solid and satisfying continuation of the series, maintaining the blend of action, humor, and character-driven moments that made the earlier entries enjoyable. The story feels more assured, with the world and mechanics fully established, allowing the focus to rest on escalating stakes and evolving relationships.
The character interactions remain a highlight, especially the way personal connections intersect with the demands of hunting and survival. There’s a sense that the narrative is building toward something larger, with threads that suggest future growth and deeper exploration of the world.
That’s also where the sadness comes in. While this book stands well on its own, it clearly feels like a midpoint rather than a true ending. Knowing the series did not continue leaves a bittersweet note, as there was real potential for further development that never got the chance to unfold.
Overall, this is a strong installment that reinforces how enjoyable the series was at its peak. Monster Hunt NYC book three is a good read, but also a reminder of a story that ended too soon. I would have happily kept following these characters and this world if given the chance.
