2.5 (a little bit disappointed) stars.
I love soccer/football and most books related to sports in some way and I wish I would have loved this one, but I didn´t, I´m in between "ok" and "liked it".

This book was really great 😍❤!
I have to admit that is one of my favorite NA books this year and if you know me, you know that I'm obsessed with this genre 😅!

Pretty good.

These two shouldn’t really fit, but reluctantly they do. Aria wants to focus on the nonstop work life she’s established and Jude wants to make her dream bigger. So all in all a good read. Jude is a bit of trouble and Aria is a bit of calm.

Jude Davies has been playing soccer for the Rogue Academy for as long as he can remember, always destined to become famous. Now that he’s 20-years old and already signed on to go to the pros, Jude is practically set for life. But Jude and his teammates always get themselves into trouble and Jude’s bad behaviors are starting to catch up with him.
Aria has the world on her shoulders for only being 19-years old. She works two jobs at the Rogue Academy—seamstress and groundskeeper—instead of attending college. Aria never got the luxury of going to college since she is caring for her sick father with cancer alone, supporting their family on her own. She tries to stay under the radar, but for some reason, Aria catches the attention of the most elite member of the soccer team, Jude Davies.
Jude and Aria are complete opposites and come from totally different worlds. But Aria isn’t like all the other girls Jude’s dated; she’s a breath of fresh air. But Jude’s bad-boy ways could cost him the only real thing he’s ever had in his life.
The Second Coming by Carrie Aarons is book one in the Rogue Academy series. Although this romance is classified as new adult (set in college), I found the characters in this story to be extremely immature. If I hadn’t been told their ages, I would’ve been convinced the Rogue Academy was a private high school. I wanted to love this, as a soccer romance sounded amazing, but I couldn’t connect with this one. I’m not a huge fan of overly cocky ass holes and Jude fit that to a tee for most of the book. And the “not like other girls” trope is getting old for me and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure if I’ll continue with the series. 2.5/5 stars.

The Second Coming was the perfect mix of angst, steam and drama. Loved the characters and their portrayal. The Rogue Football Academy hooked me from the very first page.
Jude Davies is a football legend in the making. It’s no surprise he’s the academy’s golden boy. He’s charming and reckless and when he and his friends get together there’s no doubt they’ll make trouble wherever they go. But things change when she appears.
Aria is every bit independent and compassionate. She’s different from all the other girls and exactly what Jude needs. Though Aria can’t get distracted, especially with the likes of him. There’s a lot on her plate and that’s why those things are her main focus.
Aria and Jude couldn’t be more different. But at the same time they also shared similarities. I couldn’t get enough of their banter or their scorching chemistry.
Overall, The Second Coming was an easy and enjoyable read. A great start to the Rogue Academy series. Can’t wait for the next book.

GAH! I absolutely loved this story! It was highly entertaining with the perfect mix of steam, angst and drama. The characters were well portrayed with enjoyable dialogue. The writing was top-notch and engaging. I was hooked from the very first page, lost in the world of the Rogue Football Academy.
The Second Coming follows the story of Jude Davies who is a football legend in the making. He is the academy's golden boy who is sexy, loaded, charming and a bit reckless. He and his band of buddies seem to stir up trouble wherever they go. Then everything changes the day he meets her.
Aria is beautiful, compassionate, independent and so different from all of the other girls. Not only is she good for Jude's image, but he just can't seem to stay away. The only problem? She's got a lot on her plate and distractions like him are out of the question. Will he be able to wear her down?

The cocky soccer player met his match and I was all for it. Jude was an up and coming star ridiculously cocky and never took anything seriously. He then meets Aria who turns him down every step of the way which intrigued him even more. As a matter of fact someone else gave him her name because she couldn’t be bothered with his arrogance. His pursuit started out as a means to get in her pants but as time passed he really wanted to know the hardworking young lady. Aria wasn’t your typical youngster. She was super serious and hardworking. She had her dad to take care of and she had no time for the arrogant, cocky player. But as time past they realized they had somethings in common and she saw beyond his facade. These two had their ups and downs but they balanced each other out. Jude underneath all his cockiness and arrogance had a heart of gold when it came to Aria. Aria was just simply amazing and admirable. Even when she finally gave in to Jude, she was still super independent. I was excited to see glimpses of Killian and Leah, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I can’t wait for book 2 in this series.

I needed a good sports romance to start my summer off right, so I was pleased to find Carrie Aarons was giving us a NA/Adult football (soccer) romance with The Second Coming. The Rogue Football Academy houses the elite British footballers, the boys and men of the league are meant for stardom on the pitch. Jude is the talk of the town, heralded as the second coming in football and swooned over in the London scene. He's a cocky charmer that likes to push his luck, but he's also a sweetheart and it was easy to fall in love with him as the hero. Aria is our heroine, a young woman with the world on her shoulders and the difficult role of caretaker for her ailing father. She's not your typically football fan, no swooning for her, she sees the men as egotistical, spoiled, and in particular, unaware of the world's difficulties. Her arranged time with Jude is meant to help them both, his reputation and her wallet both need padding, but neither expects the bond that follows.
"Once she relents and falls into my bed-because let's face it, that's how this is going to end-I'll be instantly bored and abandon ever seeking her out again."
I loved that Jude was aware of his womanizing ways, that he was even more aware of how different he felt about Aria. I only wish she had been more open to him, more perceptive to the things he was doing that were so out of character. I sometimes struggled with Aria, she is so jaded and it really made things more difficult for her, more so than she realized. I honestly think that had Jude not been so persistent and had several secondary characters not intervened that this romance would've never happened. We are treated to a wild ride though, Aria's personality and Jude's clash right away, and yet the spark between them burns even when she is stand-offish and he is a prat. They not only share attraction, but as they spend time together both for the arrangement and by choice they discover their similarities. Jude isn't what Aria had thought he was and Aria, she's the girl to make Jude realize it isn't all fun and games and bedding hot women. Their relationship is good for them both and through out the lengthy The Second Coming we are treated to character growth and a couple with stronger bonds than your typical romance read.
"Why did I try to trick my mind into thinking that this wouldn't be life changing? That kissing Jude would be mediocre, or okay at best?"
The Second Coming may be a sports romance and it may have a hot footballer on the cover, but inside the pages Carrie Aarons has weaved a tale filled with angst and tough love. It's a story about growth, self discovery, and forgiveness. It's the story of Jude and Aria and the arrangement that rolls the soccer ball in a new direction. I can't wait to see what Carrie Aarons has in store for us with the Rogue Academy series, The Second Coming was a solid introduction to the boys and was such a good read for me.

Yeah I don't think I can finish this book.
I tried, I really did try.
First things first... you can always tell when a "British" book was written by an American writer. It was awful.
The language/words used were all over the place. It was like a mixture between cockney and what I'd call "old people slang". A lot of the words used, a 20yr old man in PRESENT day would never say...especially if they're from London. If the author consulted someone while writing this book, I think it was probably someone older which made it really cringey to read. It was like the author was trying too hard to sound British by overusing so many words. You should be able to get across someone's British without using knob or shag or prick every other word. I think it's just a typical case of what Americans think British people sound like and what actual British people sound like.
It was also really choppy. To me it didn't flow very well and I think that's one of the reasons I found it so hard to get through this book.
Secondly, the characters.
I HATED Jude. He's has literally every bad character trait of a guy you hate.
There was nothing i liked about him. I didn't even feel sorry about the fact that he lost his parents at a young age. He was too immature and every time he got into trouble, he blamed it on being young and rich. He never took responsibility for any of his actions and it was just so off putting.
Also, bringing it back to the language. I really didn't see Jude as being British. He read as if he was an American that threw in a couple of English words now and again. It was bizarre.
I also didn't get Aria's attraction to Jude. I mean it's nice seeing a pretty face but as soon as he opens his mouth that should be a turn off. And he reputation wasn't that good either.
This review is kinda all over the place, but I just thought everything about this book was forced and awkward and I really couldn't finish it.

This was a quick sports romance that delivered on the chemistry and romance. I have previously read Carrie Aarons before so I knew that I would enjoy her writing and storytelling. However, even though I enjoyed reading it I can’t say it’s going to be favorite.
What I did really enjoy about this book were the characters. I thought they were great and had some awesome chemistry. They are from different worlds but we know love doesn’t care about that. Jude helped Aria be strong and chase her dreams while she helped Jude change to someone who actually cared about his future.
This read like any basic New Adult novel. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! It just didn’t give me the sparks and the feels that I was expecting. Some of Jude’s actions got tiresome because he literally just kept making the same mistakes over again.
Like I said before, even though I didn’t love it, I did enjoy it. I’m actually excited to see who the next book is about. I have an idea about who it is and if I’m right, then we will be getting a lot of enemies to lovers vibes!

The Second Coming is the start of Carrie Aarons' sports series and she starts it off right.
I enjoyed reading this book and getting to know these characters. Carrie does a great job of setting up the series well but also not taking away from the main two characters and their story being told.
Jude Davies is the next football legend. While he may be a great player on the pitch, he and his friends (and fellow team members) tend to find themselves causing problems, whether intentional or not. None of them are ever in need of finding a lady and they make no apologies for the wild ways.
Aria's life revolves around one thing - being the sole income earner for her household and taking care of things. It's not something that she complains about but it is a lot for someone her age to take on. But she does it with grace and compassion. She knows that her life does not need any distractions and tends to keep her head down.
I love that both Jude and Aria are more alike than they realize. However, they still keep the other on their toes as they get to know one another. I love their interactions and banter. While there were a few things that did bother me as I was reading, the overall vibe was still amazing.
Carrie gives us a great blend of romance with the just the right amount of humor. One thing that Carrie exceeds well at is never undermining her characters and making them act like twits when issues arise. There was one area that I felt Aria could have reacted better, I love that Jude was the one to call her out on it and fix it as soon as he could.
Overall, The Second Coming was a really good read and nice start to this series. Carrie did a good job of setting up the next book in the midst of this one so I am quite excited to read about Kingston and Poppy.
I enjoyed reading this book and getting to know these characters. Carrie does a great job of setting up the series well but also not taking away from the main two characters and their story being told.
Jude Davies is the next football legend. While he may be a great player on the pitch, he and his friends (and fellow team members) tend to find themselves causing problems, whether intentional or not. None of them are ever in need of finding a lady and they make no apologies for the wild ways.
Aria's life revolves around one thing - being the sole income earner for her household and taking care of things. It's not something that she complains about but it is a lot for someone her age to take on. But she does it with grace and compassion. She knows that her life does not need any distractions and tends to keep her head down.
I love that both Jude and Aria are more alike than they realize. However, they still keep the other on their toes as they get to know one another. I love their interactions and banter. While there were a few things that did bother me as I was reading, the overall vibe was still amazing.
Carrie gives us a great blend of romance with the just the right amount of humor. One thing that Carrie exceeds well at is never undermining her characters and making them act like twits when issues arise. There was one area that I felt Aria could have reacted better, I love that Jude was the one to call her out on it and fix it as soon as he could.
Overall, The Second Coming was a really good read and nice start to this series. Carrie did a good job of setting up the next book in the midst of this one so I am quite excited to read about Kingston and Poppy.

Carrie Aarons really did a spectacular job with The Second Coming. I was particularly impressed with leading man Jude.
Talk about a character who grew and developed during the story. And the whole process of that growth was just so well written. He wasn't ever unlikable for me. But he was definitely walking around with a chip on his shoulder. He clearly acted like (and was often treated like) he was the second coming in soccer or football as it's referred to in this British setting. However meeting the leading lady Aria opens his eyes and forces him to really grow up.
Aria is also an extremely well written character that I couldn't help but respect and admire. Her dedication and willingness to sacrifice for her family makes it pretty clear what kind of person she is.
So that was probably my favorite thing about this book. The plot was great and obviously the twists and turns and the way the characters handle things contributed to my enjoyment. But the characters themselves were what really did it for me. In the end I loved them both so much and wanted nothing but good things for them.

The Second Coming by Carrie Aaron’s was such a brilliant read.
Sweet, swoony and cocky as hell Jude just drew me in from the start.
This book had a little bit of everything, drama, angst, smoking chemistry and banter. Everything I look for in a book.
If you love sports romances then I definitely recommend The second coming.

5 SEXY JUDE STARS!!! Jude is PERFECTION!! Jude and Aria's story was hot, sweet, sexy and a page turner. The author sucks us into her story land and you feel like you know these characters. What a great start to a new series. I can't wait for more story with the other characters.

The Second Coming is the third book I’ve read by Carrie Aarons and so far my favourite book. I really loved the story, it was so good and I wanted to know how the book was going to end. I read this book in one day, it was just that good. I was hooked from the first page until the last one!
I love that Aria and Jude are opposites. Aria is beautiful and compassionate whereas Jude is cocky and hot. Their problem is that he’s a football player and she has to take care of her sick father. He has to travel to London and she has to stay home for her dad…

I know absolutely NOTHING about rugby - wait, I know one thing; it's pretty violent. However, I love reading books where a character is a rugby player, whether by trade or as a hobby. And without knowing how Rugby players might be, I feel like Jude and the others were a great representation of what they would act like, or really how any young professional sports player acts like.
I really think that Jude and Aria were the perfect compliment to each other. Jude needed to act more seriously and less like a playboy and Aria needed to have some fun. She was 19 years old but she had so much responsibility and she definitely needs some of that to rub off on Jude. And Jude needs some of that to rub off on him as well.
I can't wait for more from this Rogue Academy!

I love a good sports romance and this one did not disappoint in the least. This book was full of the angst, the drama and the feels and left me actively turning pages waiting to see what was next. The descriptions used in this book had me longing to go back to England as it was perfectly written.

Steamy and the right amount of angst! I’d call this a slow burn romance between a British footballer (soccer) and a seamstress. Loved the chemistry so much and looking forward to more in this series!

A terrific British romance. Riddled with all the British-isms, a woman can ask for complete with a hunky and cocky football player and a shy girl.
Jude is well on his way to being not only a professional football player but one of the greats in the sport. Too bad his hijinx and antics get in the way and causes doubt in the minds of his coaches and team owners. He has to calm down--Jude doesn't know how. He wonders if the sweet sew girl can help him. All the guys at the academy have tried to get her attention let alone bag her--she shuts them all down. Perhaps she's a challenge that can distract him enough to stay out of trouble.
Aria has a crap life while her classmates/former friends are off at uni--Aria is working two jobs in order to care for her ailing father. She's really not complaining--he took care of her all her life only fair she does the same for him. Working at the academy in the sew house and her second shift janitorial job, she has to deal with hormonal football players. One of the many ways she tried to discourage them is by wearing baggy clothes to hide her figure. Aria loves to sing while cleaning the locker rooms. This is where she literally walks into Jude freaking Davies showering. The rumors about his...were definitely true. But she refuses to be just another notch on his bed post. Besides he won't be at the academy much longer before he's called up to the professional league full time. He treats her differently. She doesn't put up with his crap. She doubts that Jude has ever taken anyone else to meet his brothers. But what happens when he moves to London? How can Jude keep himself out of trouble without Aria by his side?

Jude and Aria... what to say? I loved getting back to the UK in Carrie's perspective and the world of Killian Ramsey and British football.
The way Aria has an affect on Jude and his behavior was refreshing in the way Aaron's told their story. Aria is more worried about her home and caring for her father than getting caught up in the superstar lifestyle of Jude Davies, football phenom. She has to focus on working her main job, getting her father squared away for the evening, and then rushing back to the football academy and working more hours cleaning up after to boys and men.
"attempts to be invisible, all the while never realizing she's as forgettable as a bullet to the chest."
Jude had noticed Aria, but was too wrapped up in his own head to realize she was just what he needed to focus and be the best he could. A chance encounter in the locker room leads to sparks and a life changing ride for them both.
"you can identify those who mirror your kind of compassion. It's why you're interested in Jude; you can recognize that he is someone to take a chance on."
I so easily get immersed in Aaron's writing style and wit that she imparts onto her characters. I cannot wait to see what happens with Kingston and Vance!

The Second Coming is like my literary catnip - a sports romance wrapped up in the perfect amount of steam and angst and emotion PLUS phenomenal characters! Jude and Aria are the consummate example of how (seemingly) opposites can attract and ultimately complete each other by providing the factors and traits that the other is lacking. The setting and world Carrie Aarons created is utterly entertaining and I'm so happy that this is just the first book in the Rogue Academy world. I truly enjoy well rounded characters and Jude and Aria are definitely that, as well as multi-faceted and real (or as real as I can imagine a posh, in demand football player can be). Aria devotion to her family is inspiring and I LOVED the way that Jude was able to give her a measure of that devotion in return. I can't wait for the rest of this series. 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

I really enjoyed the interactions between Jude Davies and Aria Lloyd. I love how they both can be seen as 'The Second Coming', Jude is considered that in relation to Killian Ramsey when it pertains to English football and Aria is that in relation to Adele when it pertains to music. They both get a dose of advice from people who have come before them with the 'been there and done that', which gives them both what they need. Aside from Jude and Aria, I absolutely loved how Carrie Aarons created such great secondary characters. I'm super eager to read more about Poppy and Kingston. I have a feeling their story is going to be extremely entertaining if we are to go by their past interactions.
