Basic Infection Control for the Health Care Profession is a clear and comprehensive guide to occupational exposure hazards and ways of guarding against communicable disease. Provides the student with the history of modern infection control and how it relates to current practices and presents specific, practical strategies for self-protection. Provides timely and relevant coverage of OSHA and CDC standards and guidelines on bloodborne and airborne disease prevention and meets the revised Department of Transportation EMT curriculum requirements at the basic, intermediate and paramedic levels. Real life case studies reinforce the main topic of each chapter and review questions offer an opportunity for self-evaluation.
I bought this book to prepare for my new position as the infection preventionist. Way too basic. I would have marked it 1 star, but it's ok for people who have absolutely no clue. The information wasn't new to me and didn't prepare me for the challenges I faced.
