The Uninvited: The True Story of Ripperston Farm

Rate this book
Originally published in 1979 – The Uninvited is the true story of an ordinary family living in South Wales who found themselves entangled in a series of unearthly encounters in 1977.
At first the manifestations were minor. UFOs were sighted in the area, huge burnt patches were found in the fields, television sets and cars blew all of their wiring…but before long the Coombs family was visited by weird lights, huge white figures and a glowing disembodied hand.

Their lives were disrupted and they were terrified by something unidentifiable and unimaginable. They were a focus for The Uninvited. The story you are about to read is true, though you will doubt it. With good reason.

This is the story of an ordinary family caught up in the extraordinary, for whom the impossible became possible, the unbelievable became believable, and science fiction became science fact. You will find no explanations for the events reconstructed here, for there are none.

What took place was as beyond explanation as it may seem unbelievable. It still is...

A fascinating and very British account of a down to earth family's UFO experience.

Its told in a very British way. Very matter of fact and plain but this adds to your empathy towards the protagonists and their children. Billy and Pauline in particular come across as very credible and honest people so its far more difficult to deride them as unhinged or fanciful.

If you like the UFO genre and want a more convincing account than some of the more sensationalised stories that appear this is for you.

Do I believe them? Read the book and I assure you it will be very difficult not to!

Re read this book after 30+ years.

I first read this book as a young teen in the 80s and it terrified me as I knew the area it happened very well. On this more recent reading, the story was spoiled by the appalling typos and formatting errors as an ebook. Disgraceful version that I paid for! Have made countless reports to Amazon about poor reproduction. Source a print copy and enjoy this weird story!

It’s very interesting but.., and how do I put this nicely,.. at some points in this book entire chapters read as if it was generated by google translate. Proofreading was obviously not within the budget if the writer. Once you get to a block of word so garbled they look like they were generated randomly you kind of give up.
