The Gilroy Clan #7

Reaching Ryan

Rate this book
Ryan is broken.
Damaged beyond repair.
Angry and hostile toward everyone around him.
Everyone but me.
It makes no sense. We’re strangers.
We barely know each other.
But there’s no denying the way I feel when I see him.
The things I want when he touches me.
He tells me those things are impossible.
That the way I feel is wrong.
That what I want will never happen.
Can’t happen.
I should be afraid of him, but I’m not.
I should stay away from him, but I can’t.
Because I know Ryan isn’t as broken as he seems.
He isn’t as unreachable as he wants to be.
And if he’d let me in, what we could be together could
fix us both.

So far, I think I like Ryan's the best, surprisingly. He's a wounded military veteran who has a TBI and some serious bodily injury that will affect his life forever. He's brooding and moody, and a debbie downer, but its easy to understand. He hasn't had it easy - as a kid or otherwise as an adult. He had shitty parents, a shitty home life, shitty abandonment by his sister Henley, and shitty circumstances in the military that get him discharged and back home for good. In the midst of his asshole-ish behavior, though, you see a good character underneath - and I really like that. I also wouldn't say he's unhinged like the others, but maybe that's because that's just a Gilroy thing and he's not Gilroy blood lol

And again with a solid non-romantic relationship in a romance novel - I LOVE Ryan and Molly's relationship. I've found in general I love kids in the dynamic surprisingly, and Molly is no exception. She's adorable, well written, and totally smitten for Ryan which makes it so believable and easy for him to be smitten with her. I just love their interactions.

AND AGAIN with my complaints - not only were there some typos and grammar issues, but one part of the book literally had duplicated paragraphs. Like 3 paragraphs copied and pasted right behind the same 3 paragraphs. Ugh. These books really needed some good proofreading before they were published - which they obviously did not get. Still I love this series overall.

Reaching Ryan

Geezo talk about getting a raw deal!! Ryan absolutely gutted me in this book, yeah he is grumpy with a massive chip on his shoulder and yeah he uses violence as a coping mechanism but can you really blame him? He deserves another chance a clean slate to a better life he just needs to get by all his own issues first. I agree with Grace he wasn't ready for more.
Grace hasn't exactly had an easy straight forward path either, controlling parents, stuck with no further education in a dead end job her and Molly absolutely 100% deserve a chance to a better life.

Can't wait to the next installment I'm ready for all the feels but so not ready to let the Gilroy clan go.

What an amazing series from an amazing author totally recommended you won't be sorry.

Love this series. Waiting for Ryan and Grace's story for a while and was not disappointed. This is the first half of their story. If you read the series from the beginning you get a glimpse into these two. Ryan is broken and angry and has an instant attraction to Grace (Cari's sister) a single mother, he struggles to fight it because he thinks because of his injuries no one would love him. Grace has an instant attraction to Ryan and because of her insecurities thinks there is something wrong with her and that is why Ryan doesn't want to be with her. We know Ryan's background, but in this half you get a glimpse of Grace's background I know there is a story from her youth and how she became pregnant and hopefully we get it in the second half. Loved the story so far, Love the characters, Holly Grace's daughter is so adorable and there were some funny moments this story. I will be anxiously waiting for the conclusion of Ryan and Grace's story.

Oh Ryan

I have to say this is the first Gilroy that hasn’t earned a 5 star rating. It’s a good concept as far as the story goes but it’s lacking something, no it isn’t the sex either. Every other Gilroy had a story that you fell in love with, were vested in, rooted for them, cried and yelled at your tablet. This one just doesn’t have that. It’s just a pissed off man taking it out on everyone else, and I get it, but there isn’t any reason for grace to want to be with him and maybe that’s it, he’s just such an asshole that you can’t wrap your head around why. Hoping Grace’s book will make it all better

So good!

I love this author and I was excited for Ryan and Graces story. They are both obviously wounded in different ways and could really use each other to heal and grow.
On an aside as a nurse I really wanted to beat the piss out of the orderlies and their abuse they bestow upon Ryan for the injuries he sustained while serving his country. I was ecstatic when he put the one on the hospital. That sounds bad. It I don’t care. How dare they do that. I hope grace and everyone else figured out the why behind that situation so that Ryan is painted in a different light. Can’t wait for the rest of the story.

Ryan is Henley's big brother. That was basically all we knew about him other than he was a good friend of Connors. Although not blood he's counted as a Gilroy brother. I was intrigued as to how. This book explains the whys & wherefores. We also see more of Carrie's little sister Grace & her daughter Molly. As well as continuing appearances by the rest of the characters from the previous books. I really love the way they all remain present in each new story. It gives the reader a real sense of the structure of the family & relationships between all the characters. Once again often aggrieved by the poor editing though sadly.

Why do I read these?!?!?!

I can never wait until the books are finished & tell the complete story of the couple of focus. So instead I read them as fast as possible & HATE IT when they end!!!

This series is good. Gut wrenching, make you cry, laugh out loud and sigh with relief when the good guy wins.

Come on, join the party - suffer with the rest of us as we wait for the next installment.

MEGYN - PLEASE WRITE FASTER!!!! Who needs sleep?! Or quality time with family?! ;) ;) ;)

Swoonworthy!

I’d like to first start off with a thank you to all of our active duty service men and women and to all who have served before them. I think this book does a really well job of describing the heartache that a member of our military can go through when they have gone through a traumatic experience. My heart breaks for Ryan, I am so hoping he really embraces therapy (the physical and mental) and tries to move forward so he can have a future with Grace and Molly, he deserves it!!

DISAPPOINTED

The plot was good, but these books are like a train wreck. Once you get started, it's hard to sop. The only reason I keep reading is to find out what is going to happen. There was a lot of duplicate text, where a thought was started and stopped and then started again. Megan Ward needs to learn the difference between your and you're. I'm glad that I haven't spent any money on these books. Please get a proofreader and / or an editor before submitting anything else.

I really liked this story, and now Giving Grace which I read a few months ago, makes so much more sense... Would have rated this 4 stars easily except there were so many small spelling mistakes, that it became a bit irritating (e.g. brown iso brow, so more proof reading needed than a simple spell check, and some sentences were not finished).
Still I love Ryan, Grace and Molly (and all the Gilroys) and it is a pity the series is finished after the next book.

Ryan & Graces story part1

Retired Vet Ryan, Moody a$$hat to his friends can't stop thinking about Cari's little sister Grace.
Who he met at Cari's art opening.
Grace can't stop thinking about Ryan at least she's got an excuse to use to see him because Molly her 4yr old is obsessed with him even let him sleep in her new little pony sheets.

Book just seems to get really started n its over n we've got to download next book Graces story to find out if it's a HEA.

I never thought much of Ryan when he has been mentioned in the background but I think he is my absolute favourite of the whole Clan. He is broken beyond repair, literally and doesn’t think he is worthy enough to be loved. Even if he did would he remember? Grace is also a kinda newbie to the group. She is Cari’s baby sister and a self proclaimed teen mum who has her own secrets and scars. Will Ryan be the one to finally get her to open up & can she love him beyond the “ugly” scars

Megyn Ward is a must read author!

Megyn Ward does it again with Reaching Ryan! She brings together the best characters Ryan and Grace have it all.
It's every bit the friends to lovers maybe a bit of enemies to O yes there's this adorable little girl named Molly who somehow pulls the heart strings of grumpy wounded Ryan. And yes there is heat and lots of it. Grab your copy of Megyn Ward's books The Gilroy Clan.!!

Loved it

This is a great addition to the Gilroy Clan books. Ryan is back are serving his country and getting seriously hurt. Grace is moving to Boston to go to college and create better opportunities for herself and her young daughter. I like that Grace likes Ryan as he is, she's not out to fix or pity him. Can't wait for Grace's book to finish telling their story.

I love Megyn's cliffhanger ways!

Ryan, Henley's brother, is broken & angry. Grace, Cari's sister, is a single mother with her own issues. Both of them are drawn to the other. And Grace's daughter Holly finds Ryan fascinating. They have a rocky start. Look forward to reading the rest of their story in August.

This has been the best series! I’ve loved every book of the Gilroy Clan. Every couple’s story is broken into two books but they are sooo worth the wait in between! I always purchase on the release day and say I’m going to read slowly but Megyn is just too good of a storyteller because I can’t help but get lost and read until the end. Hurry up August!! :)

So many editing errors

Great story, but the proofreading errors make it difficult to read. There are similar errors in the previous books, so unfortunately, it’s not surprising.

That being said, I love the Gilroy books. The characters seem to deal with real-life problems of self-acceptance and belief in others. Would love to read about Logan in the future.

Ryan, broken beyond repair and unworthy of love, that’s how he views himself. Until he meets her, the one that could change everything for him. Will he allow himself to feel, both mentally and physically? This is the beginning of a relationship between two people with scars that will tear your heart out- can she fill the black holes in his heart?

All the feels

Great story I have been waiting for Ryan's book and it did not disappoint. I love seeing things through his eyes we met him back in book one and his surly attitude gave me questions and we now get answers looking forward to the conclusion. I sure will miss the Gilroy Clan.

Tissues needed

I put off reading this story because I knew what Ryan went through was going to break my heart... and it did. But he also made me mad with his back and forth ways when it came to Grace.

That being said, it is an amazingly realistic story. Knowing that they are meant to be, I'm hoping they both find their HEA in the next book.

So good

Ryan is a wounded veteran and Grace is new in town. They have an instant connection, but Grace isn't nearly settled in with her little girl yet and Ryan is still brooding over his new disabled life. So starting something isn't a good idea at all, but most special connections like theirs, don't follow plans.

I've been patiently awaiting Ryan's story and it hasn't disappointed so far. I've loved the insight into all the behaviour we've already read about but had no context and I love the way his inner monologue narrates his feelings. The turmoil that he's suffering through makes me want to be there for him!

Reaching Ruan is such a fantastic read...It has more of a real life feel toward it. It was written so good that you can feel Ryan's pain and struggle. It pulled at my heartstrings and in keeping with tradition I cannot WAIT for the next installment

Started this book about 2-3 hours ago and finished it in one sitting. Now I’m kicking myself because I have to wait a little over a month for the next one in the series. This book was awesome!!! I guess I’ll have to start the series over to help me wait for the next one.
