He was born into the struggle, a place where love was sometimes considered a luxury and most certainly couldn’t be taken for granted. Being the sole provider of his household before he was old enough to get a job, it was no surprise that he maintained that position when super stardom landed at his door…Kenny She was born into the struggle, a place where abandonment was just one of the many things that could fall into your path. She learned early on that it was her responsibility to protect herself, and sometimes the ones she loved. In her eyes, pain was not a thing to be shared. It was better managed alone. And the weight of it, though crippling, was hers to carry and no one else’s…Tashena They were born into the struggle, separated by a few blocks of concrete and heavy doses of pain, somehow finding their way back to each other after life and its perils pushed them apart. The truth needed to be told before either of their hearts could mend. Healing was needed on both ends before reception was an option. Trust needed to be established before love was a possibility. Such heavy burdens to bare for souls that were already carrying too much. Plus, a story of love...through the struggle.
Sabrina B. Scales is a national best-selling author of vibrant and passionate romance whose unique style of writing highlights real stories about real people falling in real love, and can be attributed to her humble upbringing in a small town in Southeast Texas, where happy endings were usually the result of hard work.
I finally read the Kindle version and Plus was a really good book. That just goes to show you how a great book can be ruined by a horrible narrator. If you're into audiobooks like me, give this one a hard pass and just read the book. The female narrator will have you wanting to punch the walls.
I’m going to assume all of the 5-star reviews on this book are for the Kindle or paperback versions because, the Audible version is trash! I have listened to a lot of books with bad narrators but, Machelle Williams just took the crown. She was HORRENDOUS!!! An 1 ½ into the book, I stopped at least three times and almost gave up. Machelle Williams’ narration was so bad, I could hardly focus on the storyline. Her attempts at doing different characters were mediocre at best. That high pitch screeching tone she used to voice Chardonnay was so annoying, I had to skip those scenes. Her tone was monotonous, emotionless, and all of the female characters sounded exactly the same. I couldn’t tell who was talking when she voiced Tashena, Phalin, Taya, or Aunt Rhonda. And, both of them consistently mispronounced Phalin and Nedra’s name. Oh, and don’t get me started on how bad the sex scenes were! The way they read the sex scenes was so juvenile. It didn’t even sound like they were being read by an adult. It's disheartening when a good book is overshadowed by a bad narrator. Leon Nixon killed his narration and he's the only reason I gave the performance 2 stars. But, Machelle Williams ruined this book. Was Wesleigh Siobhan not available?!!! I may have to buy the Kindle version and read it just to see if the book is as good as everyone says it is.
You all need to listen when I tell you, this author tells a story like it's no ones business. Kenny and Tanesha made love look simple. Even though they endured some tough stuff, they will be alright as long as they keep outsider looking in. The sexy, erotic scenes met all the hotness check points. And I can't wait for next time. Plus was a symbolic story in this highly anticipated release. A typical unconventional SBS love story. Great read!
3.5 ⭐️ Kenny & Tashena 👏🏾👏🏾!!! On thing Sabrina Scales is going to do is portray a very beautiful couple through writing! I loved them together!
This was a decent story! Although, the beginning of the story was a little on the heavy side, & despite the ending feeling a bit incomplete & rushed.. the book was beautiful!
Plus was a great story I have been interested in Kenny since meeting him in the previous book. The chemistry between him and Tashena was off the charts. The storyline was perfect with the right amount of sex, love, drama, communication and progression. Add in Seth, Dwight and Posie and I fell in love. I’m not sure what’s next but I’ll be one of the first to read it.
Interesting and entertaining...Shena was too hard in Naughty and Nasty and now I understand why. Im glad that Kenny had the persistence to be relentless in his pursuit and he had support when he almost gave up. The passion was fire!!! The relationship exploded when Kenny turned up the heat. I feel like there is more the story was incomplete it didnt feel like THE END!
Let me start off by saying, some of the content of this book is a hard pull for me! However, Sabrina was able to exert equal amounts of romance, drama, ravishment, and carnal abuse. She brought awareness to situations that we long to keep secret but the story of truth needs to be told. We are not helping by hiding it! Help someone else and be light unto the next person. Tashena was that for Kearston, Bella, and Bryan! As well as the contribution of Kenny! Sabrina I needed a little moe justice done to Rodney! I’m just says! 👠👆🏾where the sun ☀️ don’t shine! 👈🏾👈🏾
Kenny MCKINLEY.... is that *****! That can handle the best of them! He definitely handled Tashena! The pages was sizzling hot 🔥! I didn’t know a life of celibacy could be so good 😋! Kenny was definitely down for the count!
I absolutely love Taya, Tashena, and Rhonda’s relationship! Taya mouth is reckless thou! Family is everything! Jamie needs a lesson in this department! Chardonnay is a beast with the skills!
It was great catching up on Seth and Phalin, Justin and Nedra, and Dwight and Posie! Another five star ⭐️ pen 🖊 menship is a beast!
I have a ton of words to describe just how much I loved this book, and they still wouldn't be enough!!!
This author has yet again taken a heart-wrenching life occurrence and painted a beautiful story that shows despite the scars of one's past the struggle is real and success, happiness and everything good in life is attainable. McKinley 'Plus' Washington and Tashena Maxey did not present themselves as victims nor did they look like what they had been through and most certainly refused to allow their past circumstances to block what they should have had so many years ago. Both Plus and Tashena were amazing people who could have so easily focused on themselves but they did the complete opposite - they never failed to help those they were connected to sometimes even denying what they wanted and/or deserved. I loved this couple so much!!!!
This book will tug at your heart, have your eyes sweating, move your spirit, make you laugh, make you fan yourself but most of all fall in love with this couple as they finally get to tell how their future will turn out.
I simply adore this author's style of writing and her story telling skills. Her books always touch me and this one will be another Plus to the growing list!!!
I read this book because I follow another great author Mrs. Monica Walters and she suggested it. Mrs. Scales did not disappoint. This book had my attention from start to finish. It was a page-turner. It was so many sensitive issues and topics touched throughout the book.
For a man to have a crush and to know a woman was 'his rib' for twenty-two years were just mind-blowing. McKinley knew that Tashena was his wife and once he started to pursue he went for the win. They made a beautiful couple because they both grew up in 'the struggle' as well as the hood. They knew where they came from and how hard to work to accomplish their goals in life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would not mind a sequel. I would love to see McKinley's mother finally admit all of her demons, how the tour goes with 'The Crew,' if Tashena is pregnant with more than one baby, Taya and Jock's relationship unfold, and how Phalin and Seth's pregnancy goes. I most definitely recommend this book.
Plus (Kenny) was my fav. It was this sweetness about him and that's what it took for someone like Tashena. His sweetness grew on her. She couldn't help but to start tearing down those walls for him. Loved the way he'd say "Bet". Loved how he was willing to wait and not push himself off on her because he was this millionaire. Just read--you'll enjoy it. Matter of fact I'm about to revisit that lil part right now...lol.
After reading other books by Sabrina, I had to know more about the characters that were briefly introduced and Plus was one I for sure needed to know more about. This was not one of the favorite, tbh, yet it was good to know more about the past of Tashena and McKinley/Kenny 'Plus' Washington. I enjoyed learning about the long history the each had and how it all came to a head. These endings keep you wanting more. Really good read.
I just adored Plus’s story! I devoured this book so fast, pretty sure I didn’t get anything done. What I loved was how there was a good balance between the heavy topics, the romance, and the dramatic things. This touched heavily on sexual assault, rape, generational curses, and substance abuse. Those parts were raw- my heart ached. I loved how Plus knew Tashena was for him, although, she tried so hard to not give into being with him. The chase was cute and much appreciated. Very good read!
We met Kenny aka Plus, and Tashena in The Fold series. He is in charge of The Crew, which Tashena's daughter Taya, is a member of. There was a connection from the first sight, which continued to blossom until…the past comes back to rear it's ugly head. Until they both deal with their secrets, they won't be right.
What comes out of this is a beautiful love story. One that has survived a lot of hurt and pain.
This story flewed effortlessly and the plot twist was good. My favorite character was Kenny and my least favorite character was his trifling aunt. You'll have to read the book to find out why. This is one series I wouldn't mind reading again, and I loved the cameos from other books. I can't wait to read about them.

I loved Kenny and Shena. Their back story or almost being high school sweethearts but never getting the chance because of tragedy really spoke to me. The way Kenny broke down the walls that Shena built up was enough to make anyone love him! Shena was the prototype of a strong black woman, but I was so happy when she let Kenny complete her. This book gives us a glimpse of past characters and who doesn’t live Dwight and Posey? I highly recommend this book if you want a dose of drama, real life issues, love and triumph!
I was such a fan of this story as well as the authors writing. Kenny and Tashena went through some thangs to get to their HEA. I’m glad Tashena stopped running and let Kenny love her. The author handled such tough topics in such a real and sensitive way.
Initially I judged this harshly for two reasons: 1. The female narrator was awful. 2. Kenny & Teshena had so much tension in the other book with no real reason on why that I created my own story line for these two in my head and I was disappointed.
I enjoyed Kenny and Tashena’s story. I should have read this book before Taya’s story. But either way, it was a good book. I understand Teshena a lot more. Kenny is a good man and they finally reconnected after all those years.
I just love all Sabrina's books that I have read! This one here is the icing to my chocolate cake. The sexual passion element combined with a serious note makes it a must read! Kenny and Tashena's love has finally became official. But not without obstacles along the way! An awesome book that covered some realistic subjects such as rape, secrets, drug addiction, getting rid of toxic people and forgiveness. I saw characters from Sabrina's other novels entangled in this one and it flowed so good. I definitely loved the music plugins!
All around this was a good read. It did miss reaction of "Aintee and Taya about the future. Shoot I actually want more. On how tour life and all these new editions to the fam.
When a man knows who he wants, he's relentless in his pursuit and will stop at nothing to make her his. This is exactly what Kenny does. Even with her attitude and smart mouth, his heart, soul, and body yearned for Tashena and vice versa, even though she hated to admit that. Both of them went through some serious issues, but finally getting all of the hurt and pain out frees them to heal and properly love each other right. Kenny made Shena happy and he shows her that he's not easily scared off. This is a good story and I have enjoyed reading this series.
This story opened all the roots to what a lot of families to through behind closed doors. People know but won't speak on it because of emb and shame on the family. It's a shame that it takes hitting home sometime for one to finally deal with the issues at hand. Glad taya wasn't scorned from finding out the truth of her father's identity and reason behind it she is a strong individual like her mother. Great story with a very powerful meaning.
If you love something let if go and if comes back that's how you know. Plus and Shena are good together. Their love shows that hurt people can grow and love each other through the darkest times.
Maaaaan, this book was so fricking good! The storyline, characters, and dialogue were all on point. It’s nice to read a book dedicated to mature dialogue where folks actually work through their issues and you can see growth as the book progresses—and not the last two pages of the final chapter. And, the cuteness of Posie and Dwight at the end had me smiling from ear to ear. What a great read! A definite recommendation...
I loved Plus and the way that he loved Tashena, who drove me nuts at times! I was glad that she was able to overcome the residual issues from her younger days and succumb to love.
This was a good book but it was more if a love story than erotica in my opinion. I hate that Rodney got away with his sickness for so long but I'm glad that his actions finally caught up with him. I LOVE Kenny and Tashena together and glad they finally get to be together twenty two years later. I wanted to know were they having twins and the gender and name of the baby.
I’m not sure but I think the title of this book should have been nasty because Plus was beyond nasty. LOL No wonder he and Seth were friends. Watching the journey of life unfold for Tashena and Kenny was beautifully flawed and inspiring. I loved some pop ins by some of the favorite characters from past books.
