PURSUED, the second book in Liz Bradford's The Detectives of Hazel Hill series, is a Christian romantic suspense novel that will keep you chasing pages until the end.
I very much enjoyed this book. Liz Bradford is a fairly new to me author and I am enjoying her books. This series, The Detectives of Hazel Hill, follows the police force in Hazel Hill, North Carolina and keep you turning pages. Very good book and a very good series. Ready for the next book in the series.
This was one of those books that kept me from sleep and several tasks. I love the way faith wasn't just mentioned here and there, but was an integral part of the story. Oddly, there were many typos throughout the book, both grammar and word tense.
Amelia has been long been convinced that something happened to her Aunt Lynnette whom she adored. But Amelia knows that her aunt would have never purposely missed her promotion to detective for anything. But she and her boyfriend went away one weekend and were never seen or heard from again. Now eight years later it’s happening again. There aren’t any leads until they find out where the one couple were scheduled to stay for a weekend. So the detectives from Hazel Hill know the roads that they would have traveled. Part of the area has no cell phone service at all. There are also high mountains in part of the same area. Because of new information, Amelia and her good friend Caleb Johnson, a Paramedic and the brother of another detective, take an evening trip to Martinsville to follow up on it. But somebody messes with Amelia’s van while they eat pie in the small town. The van breaks down and a man in a tow truck stops to offer help. But instead of offering help, he has help kidnapping them and disarming them of their guns.
Amelia knows that God has been trying to get her attention for quite sometime, but she doesn’t believe He will forgive her of her horrible sins. Caleb has been praying for her since the day he met her. But now it looks like they are both going to be killed by these awful men. This was a difficult read for me because it doesn’t mince pain and brutality. But it will keep you reading!
I have read many, many Christian suspense books through the years, and this premise was completely unpredictable. Because I want to avoid spoilers, I am not going to say anymore. The characters are flawed and real which made me want to understand their motivations. While the book did have a bit of a sensational story line, I found it believable.
I am really glad that I discovered Liz Bradford's books. Her suspense books have unexpected themes with a clear redemptive message. I can't wait until book # 3 comes out later this year!
Note: I checked out this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription!
Second in the series Detectives of Hazel Hill. Amelia Banks moves her and two young children back home to be near her parents after losing her young firefighter husband. Amelia had been a detective and got a job at Hazel Hill police Dept. her first assignment was going through stacks of missing people reports.
This was a good story because it holds your interest. The characters are real and have baggage and flaws like everyone. Theses flaws help with the understanding decisions they make.
In His Hands I might be able to take a breath now! Some of the scariest most evil men I've met in suspenseful stories are on a hunt but not for animals. Their dad taught the brothers that human prey gives more of a challenge. The overflowing love and forgiveness of God is beautifully woven through this story of the Hazel Hills PD.
I really liked it. I was curious about Caleb since the beggining and his story was full of love, strength and patience. It was really beautiful seeing their friendship turn into more and seeing how much Amelia wanted him but was strugling on how she could have him. They coming together in a moment of need and realizing they really belong together was amazing. Love really conquers all
This book was even better than the first. I figured what happened to Caleb and Amelia was going to happen, but it still had me biting my nails.
Caleb was an awesome character. I liked him in book one, but he was even better in this one, and his backstory made him even more likable. He and Amelia were awesome together
Pursued is a fabulous book!! Mystery, intrigue and true devotion to another person are all incorporated here. Bradford has taken the worst life could throw at a person and used it to draw back a faith that is never ending. Love, in all forms, can brighten the journey and she has used that in every way.
Loved the story of Caleb and Amelia. So much guilt on both sides and fear of sharing. See what happens to them that brings out the love for each other. A lot of suspense when couples who have disappeared and are currently disappearing and how are the police are trying to solve cold cases and new ones. Great read.
I just read the second book in this series. The story line fallows after the ending of the first book. It will keep you in supence till the end. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
So many typos! Whoever the editor is, she needs to get some proof readers! So many times the verbs were missing the endings like ed. You don't know when to use they're instead of their or there! Come on! Too many errors to count!
One of THE best books I have read! Liz has a way of keeping her readers on the edge of their seats! The Christian theme is very realistic and is not just put in where it might fit. Can't wait to read the next one!
This is an amazing book!!!!! It contains all the intriqu e and mystery anyone could possibly want. I can't wait to read more about this fictitious town and its police officers.
This was such a good book!!! The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved that the same characters were in book 2 because I grew so fond of them in the 1st book. I feel like they are real people. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
This was an awesome book! Lots of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. I really like the way the characters bring their faith into their everyday lives and the fact that while bad things do happen they are still able to see that God is good.
I am loving each book in this series even more than the ones before it.... and I realllly loved those books! I cannot wait to start the next book. I even enjoy reading the Author’s Note, something I don’t usually do.
There is a lot of evil in this world and sometimes it may seem like Satan is winning but when God is pursuing one of His children (like the lost sheep) He is not going to give up! We can be thankful for that!!
Another great story by Liz Bradford but super intense. While it was easy to figure out who had done the crime, how they would escape was kept till the end. I love how forgiveness from God was tied throughout the entire story of Caleb and Amelia.
This 2nd book in the series had a little of everything. Detectives at work, serial killers, love, romance, sadness, and a reverence to God. I enjoyed this book and I want to read the rest of the books in this series.
Really impressed by this story. I like the author. She's doing a really impressive job of additional g am a danger and mystery, not to mention humanity to a book that's not embarrassing to read!
