I have secrets--old, ugly ones that can destroy the fragile bond between me and Ivy. So I stay silent, feel them fester and eat at me. But Ivy's ignorance isn't anyone's bliss. It's making her vulnerable to our enemies. And my keeping the secrets is nothing less than a betrayal. When she finds out, I might lose the only thing I've ever wanted... ...Ivy's love.
Bilingual former management consultant Nadia Lee has lived in four different countries and enjoyed many adventures and excellent food around the globe. In the last eight years, she has kissed stingrays, got bitten by a shark, and petted tigers.
She shares an apartment overlooking a river and palm trees in Japan with her husband, winter white hamsters and an ever-widening pile of books. When she's not writing, she can be found digging through old Asian historical texts or planning another trip.
Secrets by Nadia Lee is aptly titled as book 2 sheds lights on past secrets and more secrets are uncovered. Secrets picks up where Sins ended. Ivy learned more of the truth about her past and it breaks her apart. Tony made some big mistakes that cost him big time and he didn't realize how much it would come back to affect him later and hurt him with Ivy. In book 2, there is huge drama, rollercoaster emotions , big breakups, happy reunions, murder, devastating secrets, twists and turns, steamy romance and more twisty secrets. And yes - one epic cliffhanger. Tony and Ivy's emotional rollercoaster romance had me rooted to my seat, riveted as their story continues. I can't wait to read and find out what happens, the secrets that still remain and if Ivy and Tony will get their deserved HEA.
I am a bit overwhelmed with book two. Honestly I caught myself at 4% thinking that Tony's love was just too...everything. How could a man love that much? Then, these words slammed into me, "You are the compass of my life. You give me..." I GOT IT! Such great love in between Tony and Ivy. With great love comes the vulnerability of equal hurt. There's all of it and more here in this second book. The need to keep secrets; the outing of said secrets with a spectrum in between of danger, death and dearest of friendships. Friendship. I want a friend like Ivy has. True and solid enough to bridge the gaps of loss and joys of reconnection. I can see that book three is going to answer all our questions and tie up loose ends. Can I just say that the last sentence of this book had me saying WTH! Aloud, as it ended. I was so not ready for that Ms Lee! Solid five stars again! Loved it.
This book was an exercise in futility. 1) Waiting for the H to stop lying and tell the h the whole truth? Fail. 2) Waiting for the H to stop asking other people to lie to the h about who she is. Fail. 3) Waiting for both MCs to stop assuming guilt for things out of their control? Fail. 4) Waiting for both MCs to stop being drama queens about everything? Fail. 5) Waiting for the h to stop believing the lies told by people who she knows are liars? Fail.
This was, of course, told in Nadia Lee's engaging style, and of course I'm going to read the third book of this series. But honestly, this installment could've been a whole lot shorter. All the self loathing, breaking up and making up, and the silly heroine who believed everything everyone told her? I just about couldn't with this book. Sigh...I hope the heroine doesn't get ever tstl in the last installment. The only redeeming quality was the safety.
“Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!”
Sir Walter Scott was dead on when he wrote this in “Marmion,” a line Tony Blackwood would have done well to remember in SECRETS. One lie begets another, and another, and another. Soon he’s so swamped with lies and deceptions Ivy/Iris is devastated when she discovers his perfidy four fifths of the way into this second installment of Nadia Lee’s epic love story trilogy. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
SECRETS, like the first installment, SINS, is an emotional roller coaster, and I couldn’t put it down for more than a few minutes at a time. (My usual Sunday chores took a back seat to reading.) Tony and Iris/Ivy’s relationship is incredibly moving, and at the same time like a train wreck waiting to happen. Though we see it coming, we can’t look away.
We want them to make it, to win through all the missed opportunities on both sides to come clean, and to build a relationship based on honesty and trust. And yet, like us, the hero and heroine are human, each wanting to protect themselves and their loved one from what they see as their moral failings.
Did I yell “Don’t do it!” to them? Oh yes. More than once. My heart broke for Iris/Ivy when she learns a twisted version of a devastating secret about herself, one she can’t refute because she doesn’t really remember. My heart ached for Tony every time he lied to Iris/Ivy because his view of himself as “tainted” stems from something for which he should never have been blamed. He wants to keep her safe, which means he wants to keep her with him. He loves her, of course, but it’s so much more than that. And she loves him, but…
Minor issues kept this from being a flat-out five-star read for me (why oh why did the heroine trust Sam after what he did?), but I have no hesitation wholeheartedly recommending it.
As for cliffhangers, this one was a doozy I did not see coming. Now I’m so looking forward to the concluding episode, MERCY. I won’t rest easy until I know how everything is resolved.
Tony and Ivy’s story that began in Sins continues. Now that Tony has found her again, he will do anything to protect her and keep her by his side even if it means keeping secrets about their past. As the memories about her past are slowly revealed it shakes her to her core and has her questioning what kind of person she is and what really happened that night.
This story takes us on a wild ride as some questions are answered while many more remain. It is an emotional journey filled with twists and drama which leads up to a cliffhanger that leaves us needing to know if Tony and Ivy will be able to overcome all that life has thrown at them or if the past is too much for them to overcome.
This 2nd installment is just as intense as the first book. Secrets abound and in the the midst of insecurities, there was so much doubt. Tony and Iris/Ivy truly love one another and there is a dark force determined to keep them apart. I am highly anticipating the final book in this trilogy. Tony deserves happiness as well as Ivy and even though I've tried, there is just no sympathy for Margot Blackwell.
Oh to all the stars shining above this earth!!! This story absolutely is mind blowing!!!! The title should be secrets, lies, betrayal, lust, angst, love and passion! This story has it all! The storyline from the first book continues with Ivy finding some damaging truths and Anthony making some crucial decisions that will turn their world upside down once again. Nadia Lee’s writing skills will take you another level of wanting more. We are anxiously awaiting the next and final book of this amazing story of beautiful Ivy and mind blowing handsome Anthony Blackwood! Amazing and beautifully written dark romance 💕🔥🔥🔥
And the awesomeness continues! Picking up right where Sins leaves off, my heart hurt for Ivy as she learned more truths about the past, and my heart hurt even for Tony, as he began to realize how his actions eventually affected not only him, but how Ivy was also affected. This installment kept me glued to my iPad with all the drama, secrets, lies, approximately 8793243 emotional moments, and plenty of sexiness to keep it evenly balanced. I can't wait for book 3!
This book is the second one in the series about Ivy (Iris) This book is so good and kept me on the edge of my seat. There is intrigue, and romance and yes...secrets. I can’t wait for the next book!
Don't get me wrong. I love a good, solid love story. But this book goes far beyond that. Tony, Ivy (Iris), and all of the secrets and scandal pulling them from each other will have you cheering for them one minute and screaming to the book gods the next. Just when you thibk you have it all figured out and happily ever after is in sight, Nadia Lee throws another curve ball in your face. This is definitely a page turner that you won't want to put down!
I didn’t think I could be more heartbroken from this series, but, I was once again left a blubbering mess. I was shocked. Sad. Scared. Mad. Happy. Devastated. Confused. Delirious. The list goes on. Now I’m just anxious to see how this story plays out, and I swear if Ivy and Tony don’t get a HEA I will riot.
The second book of the series has kept me on the edge the whole time! There was a moment when I just wanted to strangle and hug the characters at the same time! Absolutely in love with this couple! Hook, line and sinker! A warning to everyone though: Once you start reading, you wouldn’t want to put it down!
Secrets picks up where Sins ended. Tony is anxious to get to Iris, and Iris is being manhandled Sam. And the drama doesn’t stop there. There are reunions, breakups, breakdowns, and murder.
The raw emotions that were in every chapter of this book hurt me to my heart. Even the happy times made me nervous because I knew they would end. Eventually secrets will come to light, and everything Tony has been fearing comes to fruition.
I cannot wait for the conclusion to this epic love story.
This book is so perfectly titled. Secrets are definitely reveled. Ivy learns more of the truth about her past and it tears her up inside. Tony makes some mistakes that cost him more than he realized it would. The storyline definitely progresses, but we still don’t get all the answers. Nadia Lee has woven a complex web that is still being untangled and I am dying to see how it all plays out. The writing is riveting and I highly recommend this series. This is one that you must read the first book before this one and you’ll love it.
Book 2 of the trilogy. Aptly named Secrets, everyone is keeping them and you know it's going to cause problems. You do sort of feel like shouting "just tell him or her" but this part of the plot and they all have their reasons. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating. Other man interested but heroine shuts it down. Series must be read in order. Cliffhanger ending.

Secrets is the perfect name for this book as everyone seems to be keeping secrets and lying to each other. In this book you see the ruthless and manipulative side of Tony’s personality and it isn’t pretty. Tony and Ivy/Iris’s turbulent and steamy relationship continues but is there really any hope for true love with all the secrets between them? There is an active cast of secondary characters that adds to the drama. As with the last book, it ends as a cliffhanger. Now I am ready for Mercy.
Such a good book. I'm not sure what I would do if I found myself in the same position. I really enjoyed this book and again, I immediately jumped into book 3. It is now 6am and I have yet to sleep.
Cannot recommend this book enough . Fantastically written and outstanding story . Really reels you in , I couldn’t put it down and am itching for the conclusion
I rarely read trilogies these days because who has time for that sort of commitment. But I am so invested! I will have to keep going. But this second book is painstakingly paced, and Iris/Ivy is impossibly naive and was well on her way to being as obtuse as Tony was in book 1. Still, quite a story Nadia Lee has spun.
I can’t get enough of this series! It just pulls you in. The story, the love, the betrayals and the characters are all so addicting. On to the next for sure!!
I didn't like this one at all. I wanted to know what the hell happened. I wanted to know why Ivy's car was hit intentionally, why she was "saved" and her identity was changed, and what the fuck Margeaux had to do with it. I wanted to know exactly what Tony did to Catharine. This whole book was a big ass case of the famous "classic misunderstanding" that's used to create conflict and tension between characters and it got on my fucking nerves.
Tony, and all his self deprecation got old after a while. He was ridiculous. He thought if he told Ivy any part of the truth he would have to tell it all. And then she would know it was HIS fault she was in that accident and she would hate him. And he couldn't live life without her, so he kept it from her.
1st if all, his reason for keeping her in the dark made a little bit if sense; once she knew who she was and it got out, whoever wanted people to think she was dead might target her. Ok...a reach, because you could have been clear about the danger she was in and how important it was to keep the ruse going. But that still makes sense. That's why he hired Jill so he could try and get to the bottom of it and deal with it without putting Ivy in additional harm. He has a bit of a God complex, but again, that makes sense.
That other bullshit about the accident being his fault is just stupid. He couldn't accept her love, so she told him to go to LA alone to see his friend. And the accident happened while she was supposed to be with him, so it's his fault. Oh, just shut the fuck up Tony! You sound stupid! We have enough stupid asses in real life, I can't have characters I'm supposed to be rooting for being fucking stupid!
Ivy's ass was stupid too. In her attempts to prove that she wasn't "fucked up in the head" (which...honey, it's ok. You had a fucking brain injury that nearly killed you and had you in a coma for a year), she kept drawing stupid ass conclusions and believing them. I get she don't know what to believe. And I get she was being manipulated by Sam, and kinda by Tony too, even though he truly loves her. But sis...you can play difficult classical pieces that you don't recall ever practicing just by relying on your gut. Stop listening to your brain. You SUCK at solving mysteries. Then all this "Ivy's so stupid...Ivy's so gullible...Ivy's so pathetic...Ivy is the fool...this whole thing was just a joke to make me feel stupid..." Bitch, who the fuck is going through all that just to humiliate your ass? For what honey?
These two annoyed me horribly in this book. This series did not need to be 3 fucking books. You could have skipped the part where Ivy and Tony were too stupid to talk to each other about whatever the fuck (that shit lasted for an entire novel 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️), and moved on to the mystery. Marty just blurted the shit out at Sam's funeral. That whole shit could have been tacked on to the end of book 1, skip all this bullshit from book 2, and move on to what I care about.
I don't give a shit about their love, which I dont think is good since this is a romance; the mystery is SUPPOSED to be secondary. I don't care if they end up together. I just want to know what happened with Sam and Margeaux and the accident. And it BETTER not be no bullshit!

The writing is technically sound. The characters are interesting, mystery itself is unique and fun to watch unfold. All in all I have enjoyed this series thus far.
I only have one complaint and that's the two main characters seem to be straddling the TSTL (too stupid to live) line pretty squarely.
In the first book it was established these were intelligent people. The main male character finished Ivy League school early because of how smart and ambitious he was. The main female character graduated from high school 3 years early and attended an exclusive music program for gifted musicians.
Not only are both characters presumably intelligent but both are highly sensitive decent human beings.
So I have really struggled with the consistent obtuse/blindness to things that are quite obvious. I won't give spoilers but suffice it to say, there are characters with clear motivation, there are investigators who supply names and things repeatedly and no one will acknowledge or question or even consider any of the evidence or natural conclusions most anyone would make. Because this isn't just one book, I have had to suffer my irritation with them for quite some time and most likely will have to in the third book, which needs to be read if you ever want actual answers when it comes to the mystery of what happened to these characters.
I fully understand there would be no television series, movies or books, if characters all communicated effectively and honestly and directly so I do get that some amount of cluelessness is required but these two just seemed really dumb.
Having said that, beyond their obtuseness, I love the story and I am very interested in seeing how it all wraps up.
Warning! If you have work the next day, you'll need a trowel to cover the bags under your eyes!
This. Book. Is. Amazing.
Wow! I couldn't image the twists that would come after reading Sins and this doesn't disappoint. The only time I was disappointed is when it ended .... and I'm patiently waiting for book #3. This book has it all... Rich dialogue, friendship, intrigue, and seeing Ivy (finally) take a stand for herself.
Tony (sigh!) continues to make the reader swoon. He's solidly in love with Ivy and it comes through in the dialogue and the fact that he's been heartsick for all those years (trying not to give away the story here). He doesn't care that he comes across as a bit of a loon when he is certain he sees Ivy and stands up to everyone in his way.
Friendship and intrigue are woven into the book.... Ivy's friend from Curtis and her current friend ... or are they really friends? We're left with wondering who did it ... and what are they up to now. Lots of really solid supporting characters that are further developed with the twists of this story.
Seeing Ivy in this book makes you realize that much of the character and personality is innate, yet able to grow and develop as one stretches out in the real world.
This is a really captivating sequent to Sins that both answers questions and puts new ones on the table. I can't read Mercy to see how this ends.
Oh My. I thought the first book in this series was good. BUT...... This book was crazy good. It tore at my heart strings even more. I do believe I was just as tormented as Anthony and Ivy. I just want to be able to make things right for them. I want to see Ivy get all her memories back. To be able to remember everything. I felt her torment in this book. I want for Anthony to have the love he has always been denied. Never have I been so invested in a book. When I had to put it down to go to work. All I could think about was this book. I was wondering what would happen next. The author is taking this slow but it is well worth what it is leading too. I do believe she is going to make things right in the end. I hope to God she does. Anthony and Ivy deserve it. They have been through Hell and back. I absolutely can't wait to read the next book. I literally will be thinking about it everyday till it releases. Nadia Lee, you have once again wrote a gem of a book. This is what it's all about. Reaching and keeping your audience. Also, making them want to come back for more. You are a superstar. You did the dang thing in this book, girl.
Well the second book in a series can sometimes be difficult to read.... NOT this one! This book was just as good at the first one and it still keeps me up at night trying to find out what happens next.
The ending of the book though... SERIOUSLY?! I was scared that I would have to wait for the last book of the series to come out, but thankfully I don’t. I am going to start reading it TODAY! I seriously love this series, I hope the ending is just as good as the entire book!
The only thing I can critique is that there are slight errors in the writing. For example, instead of saying “draining” it said “braining”. And there were a few extra words that shouldn’t be in the sentences. Usually that really annoys me, but I was so engulfed into the book, I just read past it and kept going.
The second book in the series waste no time in picking up where we left off in Sins. Throughout the book, readers continue the rollercoaster ride with Tony & Iris/Ivy. Of course, there were several emotional moments but funny one-liners did break up some of the drama which I liked. Oh, boy did this book live up to the title. I feel like I needed a notebook to keep up with all the secrets (joking, of course). I always appreciate an appearance or mention of characters for previous stories. I expect Tony and Ivy not to get there HEA just yet, but I wasn’t expecting some major twists. The author gave us more clues in this book and I have even more theories about if I right or way off. I can’t wait to see how the story ends in Mercy especially after that ending (You got us good).
Unnecessarily prolong plot with Iris being naive and weak. Insecure and annoyingly acting like a brat ungrateful woman. She thought she killed her bestfriend during the accident. When Tony proposed, she thought he didnt deserved a killer so she stayed at Yuna’s suite and torment Tony’s feeling. Finally when she removed the stick in her ass, she agreed to marry him. During their engagement party, Tony’s friend Jill died because of poison. Sam, Ivy’s so called uncle was also dead in a hit and run accident. She found out her real name is Ivy and ended things with Tony and Yuna. Luckily, Bobbie her bodyguard hired by Tony still stick by her side. Ends with she met Margot the evil mother of Tony.

This one is lacking something. I keep thinking...these people can't be that ignorant to keep believing the stuff they believe about themselves (self loathing). No-one can be as gorgeous as they claim these people to be and have that much lack of confidence. I'm not sold on that ideal at all. I'm hoping the wrap up in the final installment finds me just as intrigue with the 1st book of this series. It's almost like the author just didn't know quite what direction to go in this book; so she wrote in a way to stall (until she figures it out).
Story is interesting, but I’m not really a fan of either main character. He seems to have her in a vice grip and do every single thing possible for her. She just keeps taking it. Seems to me that 9 years of amnesia would basically be time to grow back into a “regular” life/person. And, really, having basically no control over her own life? Her “uncle” being so controlling and she doesn’t push him away? I’m reading the third one because I want to see how or if she’ll find out everything, but I probably won’t read any others from this author.
