Raging infernos. Widespread destruction. Nuclear disaster. And that’s just the first weekend.
As the United States reels from a devastating attack on California, terrorists move ahead with their next strike to trigger the American apocalypse. New York is ground zero.
Katie and Zach, who spent Saturday fleeing the fires, now spend Sunday running from the feds. And trying to figure out why they’re the target of a massive manhunt.
Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., Basilia and Alana struggle to protect the country from utter devastation.
Is the worst finally over? Or is it just getting started?
NEW YORK is the second book in the apocalyptic thriller Daughter of Babylon series.
Living in California the fire threat is real and the ease of starting one just happened locally with three fires in a few minutes. They actually caught the suspect within a few hours. The term remanent jumps out. The author as a woman has a real handle on the challenge of leading the government but add in the liberal Godless spin and you have a great look at what can happen here. All the story lines of threats and actions is right on. Her knowledge of scripture is even better
Book two, a KU library selection, is the continuation of the overarching storyline about an assault on the USA by foreign and domestic actors. California is burning and a pastor/blogger has been selected by POTUS to be the fall guy so that the real enemy, Iran, is not implicated. He and his family have fled for their lives. Then NYC's business district is nuked. As radiation contaminated people scurry to get out of the city, martial law is invoked. No-one knows what is really going on or why, until the ambassador to Israel calls for an emergency meeting with the President. He tells her what the prophets foretold centuries ago, but she thinks he's a kook and dismisses him.
"There are prophecies in the scriptures on a promise to defend Israel from her attackers, and scriptures that we believe describe the United States and her final destruction, not too long before other end times events,” he had said. “They indicate that the U.S. reneged and is punished by swift and permanent demolition.” What if it was true? If no one ever learned the truth? If it was buried forever by people who opposed it?
I was riveted from the 1st paragraph of book 1 California to the last word in Alaska! This series has been a balm to my soul and excitement for my senses. Jamie Grey is an amazing author, clearly a woman of God and her storytelling ability is truly a gift. The way she shows the humanity , the evil the strength and the frailty of all the main characters is astonishing. I could see myself in each character at different times throughout the stories. I could see myself standing strong in my faith, I could see myself stumbling and doubting, I could see myself at the end of my rope not knowing what to do. I am recommending this book to many Of my Christian friends and fellow book nerds. Thank you once again to the author this series has been a blessing to my life .
Daughter.of Babylon continues and only gets better
Pastor Zach thought he had survived the fires of California ,He had after all literally driven through the fire to get out of California , but this time He would find himself out of then fire and into something far worse ... While California continues to burn , New York will be thrust into the spotlight as America becomes the Daughter of Babylon and may very well be under the wrong end.of.Biblical prophecy . Jamie lee Grey will.have you waiting every page turn as she continues her beautiful saga
This book picks up pretty much right where the last one left off. It's just as fast paced and had me just as engrossed.
Katie and Zach are still on the run, but this time instead of fleeing the raging fires, it's the feds they're trying to evade. They're falsely accused of a horrendous crime, but with a nationwide manhunt underway, is there any chance of them escaping?
I'm completely invested in these characters and am so eager to find out what happens to them next!
I am enjoying this series most of the time but there are moments pr bordom due to excess writing, or O just want to get through these moments to get to the exciting parts. But over all ot is a good read and I love the way the author weaves in the Word of God through out the book. I like the spin on the prophetic Lesson on the United States and end time prophies Keep up the great work.
*Spoiler Alert** New York and the financial systems fall. Martial law is enacted to keep the contaminated people from fleeing. Katie and Zach are still being pursued and only with God's guidance can they avoid capture. Zach' s family flee the USA; their trip to Canada is harrowing. The President wilts as the VP glories in the power of evil. America is collapsing and there is noone to stop the fall. This is a very plausible destruction of USA story. I have no clue how Jamie will end this story. Will it end in the Rapture? Will it end in further bombing of America? Will it end in global collapse? Will it end in the rise of the anti-Christ? I think yes.
This is a good, clean book that is fast moving and easy to follow along with. I enjoyed reading it and I think he will too.
I enjoyed reading this book just as much as I did the first one in the series. I’m going to hurry through this review because I’m ready to read the next one in the series. I would recommend it to anyone who stays up-to-date in the current events of today and likes reading apocalyptic or dystopian books with a conservative twist that are clean.
3.5 rounded up. I wasn’t particularly in the mood to read this one but it was what I had to read, so I did. While I did enjoy it, at times it is a bit slow. It is very much a single TV episode kind of book. The lack of advancement (or rather slow advancement) is fine for a 45-minute show but a little low on return for a book, even a quick read like this one. I do plan to continue the series, however, because it’s interesting. I just might have like watching it in short installments more.
...because my mom always said, " If you can't say something nice...". And I've got to tell you, there are some serious problems with a few plot points and it made it increasingly difficult to get to the end. Mainly it has to do with Zach and Katie's drive from Nevada north (no spoilers). Maybe I just want my protagonists to be a little more intelligent or savvy and neither of them were. Sincerely,
I stole this review but it fit so well that I couldn't have said it better myself "What a compelling, fast-paced, story of intrigue! With miracles and twists to keep the reader engaged. This author is a genius in her storytelling and suburb in weaving a tale that makes you want to read faster to find out what will happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries and Christian reading. This book will not disappoint.
This whole series captivated me, it was slow in parts especially the driving in the first book but the overall story was so interesting I had to know what happened. I don't think I have ever read a book with a storyline like this one and that made it special on its own.
Some of the characters are "lame' especially the brother but you needed all the characters to bring the whole story together.
This is a page turner! It is wracking my nerves because the action is on three fronts and each time I see one area calm down a little the action breaks out in another! JL Grey has a very good working knowledge of the things she writing about making the story very realistic!
Awesome continuation from California. The author is so good at stories that lean towards the end times and I love that genre. Please read if you are a Jamie Lee Grey fan and if not, start reading the Daughters of Babylon series and you will become one!
This book was chilling, thought provoking, exciting, and just plain great!! I went straight from California to New York, with the excitement growing each step of the way. Haven't read anything this good in a while. Can't wait for America!!
Wildfires, nuclear bombs and trying to pin fires on someone and attempting to arrest and murder him and his family instead of investigating who did this. Read to figure it out.
Christian books written in a crazy time where other countries are trying to take the US down. Great characters and following these 3 sets of characters in different places and how it affects then in their situation.
The tension keeps building. Battle lines are being drawn between the camps of good and evil. Who will be among the casualties? This work of fiction actually does not seem all that far-fetched considering the crazy reality of our COVID-19 world in 2020.
Great story line, very realistic. However, all the exclamation marks make me feel like I'm reading a YA novel. The scenes seem to drag on forever too. Nothing really gets solved or happens during these books so far.
I love her writing her story telling. I can not stop reading. The characters seem so real to me. Katie and Zack. Sacks brother Evan, the ambassadors daughter. What new characters will appear in book 3?
This story puts your imagination in high gear. Takes biblical facts and tidbits, gives them life in the present times. This one will have you double checking the facts.
3 stories simultaneously going on. Easy to follow, could not put the book down! Exciting and yet realistic! Highly recommend all books in the series as each flows into the other.
This book is terrorizing as the attacks on America are all too probable at this time in America. Making a scapegoat of a totally innocent man is also scary and could happen. I recommend this book, no this series to all Americans. God Bless us all! Amen
If you enjoy a story about prophecy and the end times, you should love this author. Book 2 continues the story of Book 1. Well developed and believable characters. The author is a great story teller.
Overall: Good read with a fast-paced storyline. I couldn't put it down. Likes: Thought-provoking, End Times fiction, so suspenseful! Dislikes: Some cheesy dialogue. Recommend? I would. Warning that it may cause distress for those who find End Times to be an anxiety-inducing topic
I like reading a Christian’s perspective of the end times. This was a much more suspenseful book than the first one in this series and much more interesting. It also included some of the Biblical prophecy about the end times.
