OMG Yet another fantastic story that I fell into and wanted to stay. David A. Gray has written a weird, wonderful, gritty dystopian/fantasy story that grabs you, throws you around a little, shakes up your perceptions, and has more twists than a Trump administration!
The characters are all wonderfully flawed. The story simply couldn't happen without that. The "racism", the distrust and put-down of those that are different - and forced into work they don't want to do. Love and hate. The privileged and the downtrodden. Reflections of some of the flaws of the world we live in.
This was pretty good. It is about Armageddon not quite happening. The world has angels, demons and special humans called Moonflowers. My only pet peeves were that the narrator kept saying he didn’t believe in heaven and hell EVERY time either was brought up. Also it was mentioned quite a bit that the main character isn’t a moonflower but that isn’t resolved in this book. There are also minor editing mistakes scattered throughout that make it a less polished piece. The pacing was nice and the characters were interesting.
I can't wait for the sequel. This is set in a witty sci-fi/fantasy/cops/angels/demons fascinating world. It casually challenges religious dogma in a very charming comical manner. Even tho' it is deeply thought-out and detailed it seems effortless as tho' the author has lived it, not invented it. There are so many exquisite details. I grew very fond of the main character I miss him and his motley crew already. This will get picked up by Hollywood... Maybe not a Spielberg because it is rather gritty (yet delightful, imagine that).
