As the daughter of an Inari Fox, celestial messenger to the gods, I should have been reverent, wise, and collected like my father. As the daughter of a kitsune queen, I should have been poised and delicate, with just a hint of playfulness to pay homage to the fox spirit within, just like my mother. Unfortunately, genetics can be unpredictable, and they ended up with a hot mess dipped in sarcasm, rolled in spunk, drizzled with sass, and sprinkled with pop-rocks. Hi! My name's Kaede, and I'm that mess. Life was a never-ending series of clubbing and drinking with my bodyguard, Hiroki. That was his official title, but he's more of a babysitter. He's a nogitsune, kind of like a kitsune, but more physically badass with a little less spiritual oomph. I have the hots for him, but he's afraid of losing important pieces of his anatomy if my parents catch him touching their daughter. I enjoyed my life, except for the hangovers and vomit. It was good. Until I decided to save a human from jumping off a building, just because he saw dead people. The supernatural community had one rule. Don't get caught. I ended up on the six-o'clock news and shipped off to boarding school to learn how to blend in better. Good times. The kicker is Aesir Academy is in Iceland. Know what's in Iceland? Ice, land, and ancient Norse gods. Some of which are sleeping. For a damn reason. Like wanting to destroy the world. Know what wakes them up? Celestial messengers. Know how to keep them from waking up? Kill the messenger. School should be about fitting in with the popular kids, not destroying the world and staying alive. At least I made some friends to help me save the world. Dogs love foxes. Especially hellhounds and werewolves… This trilogy is intended for mature audiences only. It contains graphic language, puns, and sexual situations. 18+ readers only! Harem members are added as the series progresses. Includes M/M themes. This is a medium burn reverse harem where the girl gets all the guys. Why Choose?

VERDICT: Hilarious heroine and great banter, but thin plotline and forgettable heroes. Think I'll try the sequel.

✔️ The heroine is genuinely fabulous. (Though I've forgotten her name already...) She's not terribly bright, but she's hyper and witty and the exact personification of 'feisty.'

✔️ I loved her relationship with her manservant Roki. He's the patient, long-suffering type, and they complemented each other perfectly.

✔️ Spectacularly funny banter - mostly between Roki and the heroine.

❌ The plot was random, ill-explained, and unbelievable.

❌ One of the heroes is totally forgettable and without personality - so much so that when he disappears, the heroine doesn't even remember to look for him. This is after they've declared their love for each other. At the end of the book, I didn't even realise for ages that he hadn't returned to the story.

❌The heroes all talk very similarly, in a weirdly stilted dialogue. This formality is great for Riko, because it fits his personality, but it didn't work with the others.

❌ This is a personal pet peeve, but... IT'S WHOA!!! NOT WOAH!! The fact that this is actually IN THE TITLE is driving me up the wall.

I absolutely loved this hilarious book. I wanna be bff with Kaede! She's a feisty ball of hilarious energy.

I loved the way the author brought together two very different mythologies. I couldn't stop reading so now I'm seriously sleep deprived. I can't wait to read more about Kaede and her hot guys.

If you love a sassy and slightly crazy mc and panty melting book boyfriends, then this is the book for you. I must warn you that you might need a cold shower after reading this book.

Good read

Good read with a decent plot. I loved the blended cultures of Japanese and Norse mythology- you don't see that combo every day. Only draw back was Kaede needed a chill pill at times. I mean I love her personality but her witty mouth and nonsense got old when they were in a perilous situation. I mean even some of the guys encouraged her way too much. Other than that I loved the book. Snark and witty banter is good, but tiresome when it's just not appropriate. Definitely worth the read though.

I could not even finish this book. I like a female lead with some snark, some witty sarcasm, but this one is terrible. Kaede is the female lead of this story.
Kaede is a 22 year old childish, selfish, self centered, sarcastic, witch with a capitol "B". I can't get past my extreme dislike of the main character witch starts with the very first chapter. She knows the crap she does wrong gets her best friend and bodyguard punished, sometimes brutally, but doesn't seem to care. NOPE, can't get interested in this one, sorry.

3.5 stars. Thoroughly entertaining funny, snarky, word vomit, hotmess heroine ahead. Proceed with caution. Lets be honest here.. the FMC totally made this book for me. I was in it to win it cover to cover and read it in one sitting. Romance wise and chemistry between the characters could really use some help, but the hilariousness of the heroine really pulled out any negative thoughts I might have had about the story. I do like that we have a mashup of mythologies here Chinese, Viking, and many more. I like how its all being incorporated in.

FMC Kaede has just made tore out her parents last nerve. 1/2 Kitsune and 1/2 Inari Fox Kaede is going for the most reckless, impossible, irresponsible, and most drunken daughter ever. Kaede really takes the cake when she saves a human, on live television and almost exposes the supernatural world to the mundane. Now she and her babysitter/side kick are being shipped off to some obscure academy that her uncle runs, in order to learn to integrate with humans. Well I guess she will just have to figure out how to get expelled then. So Kaede sets her plan into motion as she starts ticking off everyone possible, including the gorgeous twin boys of the headmistress whom she quickly dubs Jacques (for jock strap) and their psycho sister. Her quirky ways however quickly endear her to some of her enemies just in time to thwart the apocalypse.. well almost. Now Kaede has roused the sleeping Fenrir from his slumber and is slowly realizing that the students at this school may just be fodder for a war of the gods...

It was funny, seriously smutty, and a little eye rolley but all in all an entertaining read where I will probably read the next one just for shiggles... Because that's how I roll..

Bloody hysterical!!!

This book packs a punch - it’s sexy, action loaded and so funny I literally laughed out loud too many times to count. It’s an academy setting, but with full on adults (thank god!) and presented differently than the standard academy fare. It’s kinda sweet, a whole lot Steamy and flush with mythology of multiple cultures. Perfect!

Pros:
- So, so funny!!!
- Love the mythology!
- Great world building.
- No info dump.
- Ends with a few answers, but far too many questions.
- Episodic ending, not a cliffhanger.

Cons:
- Seriously.... I’ve got questions. One BIG one... you’ll know it when you finish (no spoilers here!)
- Book 2? Need... need.... need!!

I was torn on how to rate this book; there were things that I really loved, but there were also things that I didn't like. The FMC is often TSTL in my opinion, but that works with her brash, impulsive character. However, she is also supposed to be super funny, and I just really didn't get that. It felt like a sitcom with a really loud laugh track - what I was supposed to find funny was completely obvious and clearly pointed out, but it often fell flat to me because it was so underscored. There also seems to have been multiple attempts at building mystery for no good reason, and many of those were never resolved (for example, why is she suddenly unable to tell the brothers apart? Their look makes it seem like this is a thing - why does it matter? Why should I care? Because right now I don't). I assume we'll get more answers in other books, but some of it just felt like secret keeping for no good reason, which I don't like.

I did like Tatsuo, though I suspect he deliberately brought the FMC to the school to set these events in motion. The guys feel one-dimensional, even Hiroki. I do not at all believe in the romantic developments that happened between Kaede and the guys aside from Roki; we barely saw any interactions, much less development of their relationships, and we don't even have fated mate attractions to explain the lack of development.

This review may read harsher than I intend, because there were things that I liked as well. I did find the book funny when it wasn't trying so hard, and I do like the integration of mythologies. I think the FMC has a lot of potential to be a fun leading lady as she develops more. I hope to see more fleshing out of the characters in the next book. The book was quite short - only 206 pages - which is likely part of the problem with lack of plot and character development. Oh, and there is absolutely no tie-back to the events that take place at the beginning of the book as the catalyst for her move to the academy. How is that possible? This issue leads into a plot flaw.

Took me a while to get into this book, the second half was more enjoyable for me than the first. Kaede, the main female character has a very impulsive, and over the top personality, and unfortunately I didn't find her to be amusing, as she was intended to be.

I enjoyed the paranormal aspect of the story, the interest in that was what made me want to finish the story rather than DNF. The relationship development between Kaede and her harem was basically non-existent except for Hiroki, the long term bodyguard.

The plot and the h start as interesting, she's super strong and outrageous. She annoys everyone with her narcissism and arrogance. The guys were all OK, just all so young and brash and they all seemed the same to me, no depth to except for Hiroki. I can't even recall much of the plot, seemed to be all shock value and that too became boring like the characters. It must be me, coz the ratings are great. Don't understand why.

Sometimes authors try to hard to make their characters funny, but I thought this book had very witty dialogue! The main character is extremely funny, but honestly she is also a little too hyper and a little too much at times. I totally understood why other characters wanted to throat punch her at times. What made this work without being too much, though, was that the main character also understood why others would want to throat punch her. She knew she was too much, but didn't care. She was just her normal hyper self and dealt with the consequences.

The plot was interesting. I don't know enough about Norse mythology to automatically guess what will happen next in the series.

Minor complaint:

Otherwise, I enjoyed the story. I liked the harem members and how they slowly developed their relationships (slowly in comparison to other RH relationships develop). I loved how the author started making it difficult for the MC to tell which twin was which when she was only dating one - that was so much fun to read!

I look forward to the next book.

I loved this book!! I loved Kaede. I think the blurb summed her up perfectly, “Hi! My name is Kaede, and I’m that mess.”. I absolutely loved that she was a little bit crazy and I’m telling you guys, she never stopped talking and it was all hilarious. I feel like we didn’t get to know her men all that well and I am looking forward to learning more about them. If you want a good story that will 100% make you laugh, then you should pick this one up.

And if you like audiobooks then this one is a good one! I enjoyed her narration so much. Kaede was crazy and the narrator did a fantastic job and making her sound eccentric with out sound actually crazy.

The 23-year-old mischievous half kitsune FMC Kaede was really annoying to me in the beginning with stream of consciousness dialogue and a lot of jokes and immaturity, but her character slowly grew on me. It was an overall entertaining and light read packed with action, but there wasn't much character development or logical reasoning for many of the decisions in the story.

The mix of Japanese and Norse mythology for the setting was interesting, and I'm curious enough to check out the next book to see what new shenanigans the harem gets into in the academy.

2.5 stars.

This was a good world and story, but I'm sorry . . . the only reason the heroine is the way she is (which is bratty) is because *checks notes* she's bored with her rich perfect life? Really? That's it? Boredom and some parental disappointment and we're supposed to feel bad for her?

Also, there was her first horrible reaction to seeing someone about to commit suicide, which was "how selfish". I'm sorry, but how can you say that when someone is so miserable that they would rather end their existence than continue? And you call that selfish? I'm just not okay with that kind of mindset.

That was almost the end for me, but I usually have a 3 strikes rule, and I made it the end of the book, so only 2 strikes, but they were some major ones.

I will not be continuing this series as I'm just not sympathetic to the heroine at all.

Funny and over the top with booze and sass. Maybe a little too much as at some points Kaede just came off as annoying and it did feel overdone. I liked the guys, the forbidden best friend, the twins and the twins’ friend.

Roki and Kaede’s relationship was the strongest but it was nice to see an MC that can’t tell twins apart. David was sweet but fell in the others shadow.

The blurb pretty much gives away the plot going to 50%. Japanese culture with Norse mythology. Loved the story and the characters, it just felt a little too much too fast. Definitely looking forward to the next one.

Can’t enjoy the book when you can’t stand the main character

She was just beyond annoying and childish. I wanted to slap her half the time. How any man could want her let alone four guys is beyond me. You know you’re in trouble when you’re cheering for the villain.

If your having a shit day this is seriously the book for you even if your not having a shit day still read it, unless you have a toddler... what that’s me and he got mostly ignored because I could put this book down. Kaede is the ultimate heroine, a bit of a drunk, bit of a rebel and just epically bad ass. Of course she needs more than one man, she would drive just one crazy... couldn’t.....put....this....book.....down.... so just pick it up and read it
(maybe when the kidlets are asleep though, don’t make my mistake) 😉😉

I'm the kind of person who hates giving one star ratings. It could be the worst book in the world and I'd still want to class it as a "low two stars". But the thing about writing reviews is that you have to think a bit more about the book than just clicking a button to give a rating. To me, this book was a struggle to read. I don't review books that I don't finish and I was so close to the end that I just powered through.
Negatives tend to come easy to me so I'll try and start with a positive. Yup, just one. I liked the idea. Out of all of the paranormal books I've read, I've never read one about an Inari fox (who was only a video game character to me), and I vaguely remember one with a kitsune. Chuck in a reverse harem in an academy with a plot for the gods of Norse mythology and this should have been perfect for me.
I'd say that my biggest issue was Kaede. She was meant to be sassy and mischievous, but it was just so forced. She came across as childish and spoilt. I suppose that's what gets her sent to the academy in the first place, but it doesn't endear me to her at all. I quite enjoy reverse harems but this one didn't really work for me. The relationship between Kaede and David was the most developed with Rome and Remy being put on the back burner. Plus, I'm not really a fan of the whole "I'm fighting my feelings so I'm going to act like a douche." I think that I'd have had more respect for the author if she'd have left Hiroki out of it; like if he'd stayed as her professional bodyguard because then she wouldn't have gotten everything that she wanted.
Plot-wise, to be honest I've forgotten a lot. It was a bit cliche to me that the mean girl ended up being the bad guy. Sometimes people suck without being evil, so it was a bit predictable in that respect. I'd already started to lose interest by the time the big finale with the gods came around so even their involvement didn't make me suddenly want to keep reading.
I think it'd pretty obvious that I won't be carrying on the series nor recommending it.

A Tail of Woah was intriguing in terms of the things mentioned in the blurb but it doesn't fully translate well in the book itself to uphold that unique premise.

I will admit the heroine is what's going to make or break this book for you. She has a strong voice that's either tips towards funny or irritating depending on the brand of comedy you like. Personally she was fine when it wasn't being overplayed or exaggerated. Hiroki was the character that stands out from the rest of the harem purely for his interactions with Kaede and the relationship feels like a better progression in comparison to the other three that she meets at the academy.

The guys really don't have much personality to have an impact and Kaede's confusion towards the end between the brothers didn't help the matter. There was a somewhat lack of variation in terms of her relationship with each guy of the harem. Fine we could have an easy sweet one with David but again the same easiness with Remy? Even the one with Hiroki starts abruptly. Just seems like things click into place too fast and linearly except for Rome.

The mix of mythologies was the selling point in me reading this book but there isn't much concentration on the powerful entities mentioned. The pace or the way things play out just adds to this hollowness. I'm still reading the next book since it's just a trilogy.

Uniquely wonderful

i almost gave up on this read because I felt our heroine was super childish, yet I carried on hoping for the best. I was not let down, I was cracking up so hard at times I was literally crying tears. The heroine is hilarious and so beautifully unique, she has zero filter and she knows this, can not fight, which is hilarious! Cannot cash them checks she's constantly signing, and reading her constantly running or popping out of situations was pretty great. I wouldn't say she's weak but she's no knight in shining armor. Kaede is strong and vulnerable in a way I haven't read and I loved it. I also loved how this RH progressed, I was not fast or slow, but flowed as it should. It was hot in a way I did not expect and it wasn't like most books were you know they will share, it just happens. I want to give a shout out to the author for an Asian beauty with a modest body and not all curves, blue eyes and blond hair, it was a welcome refreshment. Wonderful book, excited for things to come

I didn't disliked it but I won't continue with the series.
I liked the funny dialogues and mm action.

What I didn't like
- I didn't like the protagonist. The female was annoying, stupid and more like 16 years old that 23. I didn't mind that she was like a bunny on steroids but rather the way she acted before thinking even a little.
- The characters didn't have enough depth for my liking and like she couldn't separate the guys, I couldn't either.
- Also I didn't like the whole cliche thing that our female is sooo beautiful but she doesn't know it.
- The say the I love you words after 2 weeks and some pizza.
- The sexy scenes was more of a way for the guys to confess their feeling and show her how unique she was.
- It annoyed me how Roki was portrayed. It was like he was gay made bi only by our female's character uniqueness.
- Lastly what the f**k about keeping the other girl as slave? She didn't even try to say that was not right.

Overall was fast paced but still boring because even the reverse-harem and the sex didn't make it interesting.

So funny, my cheeks hurt

This book is a laugh out loud book. Just make sure your in a place where people won't look at you funny.
Kaede sake adventures remind me of my first sake experience. I don't know how I fell up a hill while walking. It wasn't a steep hill either 😁.
At first look, one would think Kaede is annoying, but she's just misunderstood with a huge heart. If you look deeper into her character you will see she acts out for attention and love.

I recommend reading this book with an open mind and heart. Plus start early in the day and not at 8pm, you'll have a hard time putting it away.

Slight spoiler alert...

Kaede's parents are loving, but express how often they are disappointed with Kaede's behavior. If the people who are supposed to love you the most in the world are always expressing how much of a disappointment you are then your actions are going to reflect her feelings of inadequacy. Plus many it difficult to trust others with your true self.

Well, that went to hel fast...

I mostly enjoyed the first part. I definitely wished that:
- the main character was more mature than bratty. I have a hard time imagining her bodyguard being attracted to this bratty child. ("Oh no my parents are too rich and people treat me like a princess so I'm going to blow stuff up and get drunk!!"). I would have emphathized with her more if the author had emphasized how aloof her parents are, how she doesn't rise to their expectations, how difficult it is to be a hybrid...
- 'I love you" 's were not exchanged so fast
- the antagonist and her motivations were more developed than this. Can we stop with the "beautiful mean girl hates main character because she's dating her ex" trope? It's getting boring, childish and a bit sexist.
- the last few chapters hadn't happened. What on earth was that? Honestly it felt so rushed and easy and made all the characters seem like idiots.

Hilarious! No spoilers here!

I love a good fun book. I love anyone with a sense of humor! I def have one and while my husband doesn’t appreciate it much I find life is way more fun that way... :) so finding this book has seriously made my year!! I love a good romance & I like rh but it’s hard to find one that keeps me entertained. I can read just about anything BUT I’ve become a bit picky. So I hope you take this as the compliment it is cause I finished your book and the 3 before it I didn’t... I get bored easily. I mean super easily! Anyway I love these characters and I’m super excited to start book 2. I might go stalk your fb first. Idk. We’ll see. Anyway I love your style & im super excited I found a new author to read that gets me. 💋

An exciting blend of mythologies

I adored this book! Kaede is the perfect sassy-heroine, she has full-on Buffy the Vampire Slayer level of banter throughout the book and it's honestly not annoying like with some protagonists. She learns throughout the book and her development as a person is fantastic to see. She's well-balanced by the male leads and Sabine is a fantastic enemy throughout. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens to her in the next book.

My only gripe about the book is that it felt like it ended too soon. I think I needed a chapter with Fenrir saying something ominous to tease the next book in the epilogue or something. It just kind of ended. But the whole book was exciting and hilarious. I truly recommend it.

The word that comes to mind to describe this book is unique. Kaede is definitely a one of a kind MC and she is really hilarious. Almost to the point of being over the top, but for what it’s worth, it works.

This is a fairly slow burn reverse harem, but there is a bunch going on besides building a harem. The world building is interesting- we don’t see kitsune’s too often as supes and it seems that they are truly tricksters. Relationships are being developed well and the story arc is building quickly. This is only book one so I’m eager to continue on with the next book in the series.

It really will make you snort out loud. ( I was in the grocery story listening on Audible with head phones and it was a bit embarrassing how many times people turned to look at me when I was apparently busting out with laughter for no apparent reason.....be warned)

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

This book was recommended to me in an RH group I'm in. I was looking for something funny and kind of fluffy. I wouldn't call this book fluffy, but it was hilarious. Kaede is sassy, snarky, and sometimes frustrating. You definitely see how she doesn't feel she measures up, and struggles with the pressures put on her. Roki's several different names were a bit confusing at first but he was really well developed as an individual character. Remy and Rome were well developed too, I wish David had a bit more time in the book. The plot is really interesting and I love the blending of cultures and mythos. I'm excited to see what comes next and have downloaded the second book.

My first impression was that the main character was sooooo condescending/witty/sassy, that is was annoying.... but as I listened, i actually found myself enjoying it and how she interacts with the men.

She is a fox, the two boys are hell hounds, and david is a werewolf. Her body guard is also a fox.
She starts by dating david, then Reme, then her body guard. Rome is still a mystery. He is more the asshole figure.

In this story, she is marked by a god to help him. I am intrigued to see what happens next.
Hotness: 5
Humor: 5
Action:4
Narrator: Female only, she does pretty good. no negatives.

This is silly and irreverent. You can tell by the first sentence if you have the ability to enjoy this book. If that first sentence annoys you, put it down: this is not the book for you.

The heroine is hilarious, if a bit shallow. The banter is spot on. I snorted a few times. She is self-proclaimed annoying, and is not able to take anything seriously, even when battling through hell or to stop the end of the world. Speaking of which, the plot outside of the school makes no sense. It pains me to say that because I enjoyed the book despite the lack of depth to the characters or story.
